New Chao Garden inspired indie game, Star Garden, launches Kickstarter and downloadable demo

Hey, Sonic fans. You miss the Chao Garden. I miss the Chao Garden. We all miss the Chao Garden. Game Garage misses the Chao Garden too, so they made a whole new game based on it.

Star Garden is an all-new 3D action racing game from indie developer Game Garden. Taking the cuddly creature customization and caring aspect of Sonic Adventure 1&2’s Chao Gardens, the unconventional, yet fun racing action of Nintendo and HAL Labratory’s Gamecube classic Kirby Air Ride, and the cute and whimsical Y2K stylings of many games on both the Gamecube and the Dreamcast, Star Garden promises a unique racing and exploration experience for you and up to 5 other players in multiplayer. Now the game is ready for the big time, with a demo now available on Steam and a Kickstarter which has burst WAY past it’s initial fundraising goal of $35,000 USD. As of this writing, the game has raised over $140,000, 4x their goal, with no sign of slowing down and more and more stretch goals coming in. People seem to think this game’s kinda neat.

Currently, the game is only planned for a PC release on Steam, with Nintendo Switch 1&2 ports being considered as a potential possibility. A stretch goal was added later on to guarantee PlayStation and Xbox ports when (At this rate, there’s no point in saying “if”) the Kickstarter raises $165,000.

EDIT: Sure enough, that stretch goal was reached. PlayStation and Xbox ports are happening now.

To find out more about this game, and its surprising star power that Sega fans may be familiar with already, as well as directions to the Kickstarter if you got money to spare, you can race past the break and learn more.

Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake Announced; Playable Demo at Tokyo Game Show 2025

The long-awaited remake of Panzer Dragoon II Zwei has been officially announced by Forever Entertainment and is heading to Nintendo Switch, Steam, GOG, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S for $24.99 with a release date to be announced. There will also be a playable demo at Tokyo Game Show held on the booth of Rainy Frog, a part of Forever Entertainment’s group.

Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake is a refreshed edition of the second entry in the legendary rail shooter series, taking you into a unique world where ancient ruins, imperial power, and mysterious creatures shape the fate of an entire continent. Step into the role of Jean Jacque Lundi, a young rider who, together with his extraordinary companion – a dragon named Lagi – embarks on a dangerous journey filled with battles, discoveries, and the secrets of ancient civilizations. The gameplay remains a classic on-rail shooter – fast-paced combat where you strike down enemies with both Lundi’s gun and Lagi’s devastating lasers. With the Berserk Attack at your disposal, even the toughest encounters may turn in your favor. Key features include:

– Series prequel: the story takes place 20 years before the events of the first Panzer Dragoon game.
Dragon evolution: Lagi’s growth depends on your playstyle and combat performance.
– Dynamic rail shooter: fast action, intense encounters, and epic boss battles.
Branching routes: multiple paths on the levels increase replayability.
Berserk Attack: unleash devastating power to turn the tide of battle.
– Pandora’s Box: unlock additional gameplay options, modifications and mission variants after completing the campaign.
Remastered music: includes both the original soundtrack and a remastered version arranged by Saori Kobayashi.
Enhanced visuals: modern graphics faithful to the original style.
Two control schemes: choose between classic and modern controls.

Rumor: Leaked Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Box Art Reveals NiGHTS’ As Playable Character

It seems unsurprising that NiGHTS, the SEGA Saturn mascot from Sonic Team, will likely be a new racer in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds. This is based on a leaked physical box art image, assuming the image isn’t a clever hoax.

I believe the leak is legitimate for a few reasons:

  • Sonic Team has a history of including NiGHTS in their games.
  • A NiGHTS-themed vehicle was previously spotted in an official SEGA trailer.
  • The leaked art reuses the cover art from NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, which, while good, has been in use since 2007. Just seems like Sonic Team would continue to re-use this art, since they love it so much (get married you two).

It’s exciting to see NiGHTS appear alongside two of SEGA’s modern-day icons: Joker from Persona 5 and Ichiban Kasuga from the Like a Dragon series. Considering that the last NiGHTS game was 20 years ago, its crazy that he’s on a box with two characters have had more recent, high selling games.

LEGO Reveals a New Sega Genesis Controller Set

LEGO is dropping a new set that’s a throwback to the classic Sega Genesis Controller. This isn’t just any controller replica; the front looks just like the real deal, complete with A, B, and C buttons. But the real surprise is on the back, where you’ll find a miniature scene from the iconic Green Hill Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog, featuring Sonic zipping through a loop!

Curious about how to get your hands on this set? It looks like it might be a special gift with purchase (GWP) item, as the official LEGO site has it listed for $19.99 with the price crossed out (edit: Seems that the item will go live on 9/9/2025). However, it’s currently marked as “not available” and isn’t on the offers page just yet. The set is also a pretty accurate, miniature version of the original controller, measuring 3.5 inches tall and 5.5 inches long. So keep your eyes peeled for an official announcement on how you can add this cool piece of gaming history to your collection!
