Thor game to have Shadow of the Colossus type boss battles

1up is running a article titled, “Five Things You Didn’t Know About Thor: The Video Game.” Some of the stuff is already known, at least I already knew. But they have a few things I didn’t really know about. One of those things is having big boss battles, SEGA hinted that Thor will have a grapple ability to climb them and strike their weak points, like Shadow of the Colossus. It makes no sense to do this, since Mjolnir lets him fly.

As for the Wii version of the game, that version is being developed by Red Fly, who specialize in porting HD games to Wii. They did the port for Ghostbusters game and it didn’t turn out awful. The Wii version will also be more kid friendly, to go with what everyone assumes the Wii fanbase is and will have a more comic book like presentation. Yes, you will be able to swing your hammer with the wiimote.

The DS version is sounding the best. It will be developed by Wayforward (A Boy and his Blob and Contra IV) and will be a Contra like sprite arcade side scrolling game.

Sonic Colors OST detailed and priced

I know that on SEGAbits we try not to post too many Sonic related articles, but I thought an exception could be made. If you haven’t heard, Sonic Colors will be receiving an official soundtrack release in Japan. The name of the Sonic Colors OST is “ViViD SOUND X HYBRiD COLORS”.

“ViViD SOUND X HYBRiD COLORS” is a 3 CD soundtrack with 82 pieces of music. There will also be some pieces that were recorded with a live orchestra in Amsterdam. The OST has a release date of December 22nd, 2010 with a price tag of ¥4200 / £35 / $60.

If I have enough money I will personally be importing the soundtrack from Japan. If you haven’t heard any of the Sonic Colors music check out this beautiful Planet Wisp Act 1 music. Is there anyone else that will be importing “ViViD SOUND X HYBRiD COLORS” from Japan? Let us know in the comments!

Sonic 4 – Lets make Episode 2 perfect

I’m not going too write a second, conventional review for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1. We already have a good review by Barry covering the iPad version of the game. His review touches upon most what you need to know about all versions of the game and I feel I’d just be echoing most of what he has already written.

Instead I want to make a list of all of the things that, after finishing Sonic 4 (and getting almost all of the achievements) I feel could be fixed or improved for Sonic 4 Episode 2.

So, hit the jump for my Sonic 4 Episode 2 improvment rundown!

Sonic 2 3D fan project getting demo next week

Sonic 2 3D fan project has released YouTube videos and we all assumed that we would never actually get to try it. There is a thing about Sonic fan projects, most of the time the users give up on them.

But it seems the guys behind Sonic 2 3D have bigger plans and are thinking of releasing a demo next week, according to a user from NeoGAF. The Demo will be for PC of course.

To help with the wait, have some screenshots.

Sonic fan does a 20 minute YouTube rant about Sonic 4 physics

Here is a 26 year old Sonic fan, AGwolf2097, who was so pissed off with the physics in Sonic 4, that he decided to go and make a 20 minute YouTube video rant. The video comes in a epic 2 part Saga. YouTube can’t contain it in one video.

I know our forum members aren’t too happy about the physics, there are issues, but I want to know what you guys think of this guy’s point of view? Agree or disagree?

SEGA has 2 new Phantasy Star trademarks, we get excited anyway

There are two things that excite me in the world, a good looking girl holding a bottle of beer and upcoming SEGA games. Actually, a good looking girl holding a bottle of beer and a upcoming SEGA game would be ultimate.

SEGA has trademarked two video game names for the Phantasy Star series, Phantasy Star: Eternal Planets and Phantasy Star: Eternal Hunters. Sounds like they will have two versions of the same game? Like Pokemon?

Who knows, but I would not be shocked if this turns out to be a 3DS game. If it is, can it be a RPG and not an online RPG? We have plenty of those!

Game Informer: Vanquish Campaign lasts only 4 hours

Game Informer gave Vanquish a 7.75 out of 10. No idea what the difference between a 7.75 and a 8 is on their scale, but seems like its a ‘good game’ with some flaws, according to them.

Platinum Game’s Kellam tweets otherwise, concerning the 4 hour single player campaign:

“GameInformer: “Don’t be surprised if you finish your first playthrough in four hours.” Really? Because it would surprise the hell out of us.”

Some being recycled bosses, short  campaign and unimpressive weapons. Oh yes, they also mock the characters, I don’t think they understand the type of game Vanquish is suppose to be. Its suppose to be one of those games you replay over and over to get the highest score in the levels, just like Bayonetta.

Lets hope most users and other media don’t miss the point of the game when they review it.

Sonic cameos in upcoming SEGA fighting game

SEGA is making a DS version of one of their hit card reading arcade games (Great Battle History Gettenka), but instead of this version being a card based game, it will be a Super Smash Bros style fighter. Guess who makes a cameo?

If you read the title, you would already know that it is Sonic. In this game, unlike Super Smash Bros, a user can customize his fighter, adding weapons and items. One of the usable items is Sonic. The DS game is called Gettenka Tenkaichi Battle Royale  and comes out November 25th in Japan.

SEGA stop this nonsense and just release SEGA All-Stars Fighters. You know you want to.

Conduit 2 coming in Feburary, watch new trailer as you wait

Above is the new trailer for Conduit 2, showing off its split screen multiplayer and weapons you will be seeing next year.

SEGA stats the reason for the delay is fan feedback, apparently some studios delay games to add stuff fans want. I didn’t know this, hopefully its better than the first title.

Chu Chu Rocket gets release date & more information

If you have one of them hipster Apple devices, like the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, you will be able to purchase Chu Chu Rocket on October 28th. Not that long of a wait!

SEGA has stated that this is a ‘brand new’ game, designed for the iPad and iPhone in mind. The game will not be a universal app, for those owners of more than one of the devices. The iPad version also has some exclusive features, like 4 player same-screen multiplayer. Make sure they all wash their hands.

Some negative news: Apparently local mutliplayer causes lag, almost a full second worth of lag. Lets hope that SEGA showed off an old build and this is not the cause in the full release.

HYPE: Famitsu gives Vanquish near perfect score

Even though everyone dislikes Famitsu, it is the second magazine to review the game and its another positive hit for SEGA and Platinum Games. The magazine gave the game a 9/9/10/9. Famitsu has four people give a score and adds it up for a total. The game got a 37, three points shy from getting a perfect score.

The first review for the game was done by PLAY UK, which gave the title a 93 out of 100. They stated “Vanquish is about as good as action gaming can get.” Get hyped, Vanquish launches in the end of the month, worldwide.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity allows user created quests

SEGA has decided to add a little something new for story missions in Phantasy  Star Portable 2 Infinity. Since the game will use some of the same missions, now users can set their own missions with difficulty levels that range from 1 to 30.

The game turns mission discs, found in the game to parameters for custom missions. You can set stuff like having monsters with low HP, high experience points and even high drop rate. There are over 100 mission codes to collect in the full game. Once you make your custom mission, it will be labeled as yours.

You can play the missions solo or share them online via infrastructure mode. Phantasy Star Porbable 2 Infinity comes out in Japan on February 24, 2011. No western release announcement has been made.
