I don’t get why they still call him ‘Eggman’ when his real name is Robotnik, Ivo Robotnik.
When they were asked a few years ago why he has two names, they said that Robotnik is his real name but Eggman is just a nikname for him, so why don’t they just start calling him Robotnik again, makes more sense.
Probably because Sega of Japan have always said his true name is unknown, even Sonic 4 : Episode II said as much. It was Yuji Naka that said Robotnik was his family name, but considering the above it seems like that was more a personal opinion.
The Sonic series, its characters and origin story were created in Japan, its only due to Sega of America changing things back in the day that he ended up being Robotnik at all. Wouldn’t you rather have the intended names and backstory than something Sega of America pulled out of thin air without the Japanese teams knowledge?
Well actually he was called Dr.Robotnik in Japan as well sometimes, though he was called Eggman just as much but only known as Robotnik in the West until the Dreamcast era.
Personally, I think Robotnik suits him better than Eggman, sounds cooler, Eggman sounds just a bit childish, but each to their own I say.
too bad they only accept PayPal for european purchases.
