Sonic Adventure Dated and Priced

I have some good news and some good news: Sonic Adventure will be hitting XBLA (and presumably PSN) on September 15th for a mere 800 points or $10!

The low price, in my opinion, makes for a nice impulse or curiousity buy. While I bemoaned SEGA for lack of widescreen, at $10 I’ll be giving this a download just for an easier way to play the game. I hate having to walk to my game shelf to get the Dreamcast version, plug in the VGA box and skip past the screen telling me to set the time and date. Also, achievements would make for some nice replay value.

Let’s just hope they’ve ironed out the bugs.

Hope the bugs are gone. I really don't care much for the widescreen.

  2. Honestly, I play all of my Dreamcast games on that smart stretched mode (the middle is normal and the edges are stretched) and I can hardly notice it as the player is always in the center of the screen. What really matters to me is a crisp image and a solid 60fps.

Didn't expect sonicteam to pick such an appropriate price. I might buy this

Looks like it's only the XBLA version that will be released on September 15.

But what about Crazy Taxi? D:

The Box Art is terribly cropped, the SA logo has been moved about Soinc.

The game doesn't have ESRB rating logo, it doesn't even have Sonic Team's logo.

  8. Those XBLA boxarts can be quite stark. I'd prefer them to look more like the retail boxes, and be on a handy virtual shelf.

It would've been smarter to launch it 9/9/10 (or at least 9/8 if it absolutely must be a Wed), not just for the obvious date, but mostly cause there's this really obscure game called Halo: Reach that will be sucking away peoples' waking hours by the time this finally releases.

I think this art is better than something like the DX cover. You have to remember that most of the time this will only be viewable from a distance as you have to search through these in a group of other releases.

Pretty impressed by the price. Even with tons of glitches and problems I think 800 points is very hard to argue with based on just the length of Sonic Adventure. Though like it was mentioned, the timing is horrible. Halo Reach comes out the day before. Why would they do that? Also I assume Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is going to be out VERY soon as well.

  11. I assume they're hoping for long term sales rather than release day sales. Also, not everybody will be buying Halo Reach at launch. Heck, all of the PSN masses won't be.

Not true, lots of my friends with PS3's also have PS3s and are massive Halo fags.

Nice timing. With Halo Reach coming out on the 14th I wonder how many people will even remotely think of Sonic Adventure. l o l
