Sumo Digital working on 2 unannounced SEGA projects

We love our Sumo Digital, they really try to listen to fan feedback as much as possible. They have recently teased that they are working on a big game for a hardware publisher, doesn’t mean they have forgotten about SEGA.

“I would say if you’ve been a Sumo fan, if you like the products that we do, then you’re not going to be disappointed in the future …So we’re working on some stuff that’s a way out. But we continue to work very closely with SEGA and we hope to have some more products coming out with SEGA. We’ve got some stuff due out in 2011 and some in 2012. One hopes people will recognise them as very SEGA and Sumo-type products.” James North-Hearn CEO of Sumo Digital

Before you get all excited and start screaming about a new Outrun game, Sumo Digital has already confirmed they are not working on a new Outrun game. They did confirm they are working on a new racing game though…

What do you think they are doing?

They are great developers, but I don't think they will handle some genres well (Aka a Fighting Game).

  2. Sharky says:

I would more then happily take

    1) SEGA All-Stars Racing 2

(With complaints such as more diverse track and character roster, More modes, better Arena battle mode and better use for Sega Miles etc taken into account.)

    2) SEGA All-Star Fighting

(I crave more powerstone and this game could easily be made as a replacement!)

I do not want… Any more Sega sports titles… Like tennis. Lame! I also do not want… ANYTHING made with Kenect or Move in mind. Because we all know it'll be some shitty mini game collection and I don't want that crap.

  3. Pao says:

I think Fighting games should be developed inside Sega or another Japanese studio with an experience in the genre.

Sumo are western, there isn't many good western fighters… and plus they are inexperienced with the genre.

  4. Sharky says:

If it is like Powerstone there doesn't need to be much depth or fighting game experience… just fun.

  6. Shadzter says:

They really didn't even confirm they were SEGA games that they're working on.

  8. George says:

"but it's got unannounced games in the works for SEGA that are due out next year and in 2012."

" But we continue to work very closely with SEGA and we hope to have some more products coming out with SEGA. We've got some stuff due out in 2011 and some in 2012. "

How is that not saying they are not SEGA games?

  9. Supa says:

Maybe I just took that to mean that the developers love SEGA so they would love to work on more SEGA projects.

He never said "we have SEGA games coming out this year and next. "
