House of the Dead: Overkill sequel in the works?

According to Nintendo Life, who has direct sources inside SEGA, the game is codenamed: “House of the Dead: Overkill 2”. They also stated that this one is rumored to be in the works for both Wii and (most likely) Playstation Move.

What about that release date? According to Nintendo Life, it should come out in mid-2011. Is it possible? Yes, the last game did end with a set up for another game.

The Conduit 2 Limited Edition exclusive to Gamestop

SEGA has just announced that the Limited Edition version of Conduit 2 will be exclusive to Gamestop. What will you get in this limited edition?

  • 44-page art book: Full of concept art and design choices made to Conduit 2’s sci fi world, weapons and enemies. .
  • “Eye of Ra” device: In-game item that helps you find the game’s secrets in twice the speed.
  • “Gold Destroyer Armor”: A special multiplayer skin based on the main armor.

This version isn’t ‘really’ a Limited Edition, its going to cost you the regular $49.99, seems that this is a ‘better’ scheme than pre-order extras. This way people will have to buy the game at GameStop if they want the extras.

Best Sonic Free Riders review ever

If there is one tip I can give anyone that is planning on getting Kinect, make sure you have enough room to jump around and play games. Especially if your going to film yourself and put it on YouTube, learn to edit stuff out.

Above is a review by YouTube user lawrenceraybon, he even suggest that you subscribe to get more reviews like this. I will subscribe, thank you.

Sonic 4 is best selling PSN game for October

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 seems to be a big hit on PSN, it was the best selling title for the month of October.

Glad to see that SEGA found success and it sucks that Double Fine’s Costume Quest didn’t rank higher, but it did come out towards the end of the month. If you want to watch the full episode of Pulse, you can find it here or on the Playstation Network.

SEGA says no to Sonic 4 for Android phones

According to the NPD, Android OS is the top selling OS in America right now. Given this sudden surge in popularity, you would think SEGA would want to port their big Sonic 4 game to the platform?

I guess not, according to Ripten, who spoke with SEGA employees in a recent Sonic Colors  event, SEGA has no plans on porting this game to Android. What a drag, no SEGA love for Android users. Maybe Google can throw money at them. God knows that Android market needs some good games.

SEGA also said they are working on a two volume VC3 OVA (original video animation).  The planned animation videos will feature the voice cast from the game and is set to be released next Spring. They will be available first on the Playstation Store.

Phantasy Star Online:Blue Burst Ends in Japan. However…

After 6 years, the Japanese Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst servers are going down for the last time. This isn’t just the end of PSO:BB this marks the end of a decade of Phantasy Star Online. The Japanese PSO:BB server was the last, official running server in the legacy of Phantasy Star Online, truly the end of an era.

Here is how the last few months of PSO:BB will play out;
-November 29: Hunters License sales and usage of all special access codes halted.
-November 30 – December 27: Free access to the game servers. December 14
-December 27: Special bonuses applied (rare drops x10, rare enemies x5, EXP x2).
-December 27: Servers go offline at 4:00p.m. JST.

Sad news indeed, but every cloud has a silver lining! In this case, Phantasy Star Online 2!

Posted by EspioKaos of PSOWorld, their resident translator of Japanese,
But fear not, you enduring Hunters of Ragol! In that same announcement, SonicTeam mentions that they are in discussions to grant access to a
Phantasy Star Online 2 “user participation test” (among other things) to Japanese PSOBB subscribers at a later time. No further details are known at the moment, but stay tuned. We’ll be posting more information as it surfaces!

So if you want to beta test Phantasy Star Online 2, I suggest signing up to the Japanese PSO:BB for its final swan song.

Review: Shenmue – 10 years later, there’s still been nothing else like it

[Even 10 years later, Shenmue’s still a fanbase favorite]

All throughout the life of the Dreamcast, we were teased with images and trailers for what promised to be the most amazing and cinematic game to ever grace a home console. There were certainly high expectations for Shenmue to deliver, and, well, it may not have been the game everyone was expecting. For those of us who “got” Shenmue, though, it ended up being one of the most incredible gaming experiences of our lives, and to date, surpassed only by its sequel. This is a series that every gamer should play and playing it when it was released in 2000, 10 years ago, was a journey that, like much on Sega’s awesome white console, forever changed the way I looked at video games.

Japanese charts: Vanquish still charting, at least on PS3

SEGA had three titles appear in this weeks Japanese charts. It was the top 50 and the highest charting game was the PS3 version of Vanquish, which dropped ten spots and is now 14th place, selling 14,042 units. Adding last weeks and this week, gives the game a total of 62,360 units. Not counting the 360 version, which dropped off the top 50 chart this week.

As for the other two titles, Black Panther: New Yakuza chapter  came in 30th place, with K-On! After School Live!! just below it, placing 31.

full chart, hit the jump.

Shenmue 10th Anniversary!

Yes! It is 10 whole years to the day… Erm, yesterday. But close enough right?

Shenmue was one of the most ambitious games ever made, it cost a whopping 70 million dollars in total, is the best series I’ve ever played and… Still isn’t bloody finished.

If you have yet to play Shenmue, well you may be a ‘gamer’ but you’ve still got your training wheels on, that’s for sure. Get your act together, go buy a cheap Dreamcast and enjoy a true classic.

If you have, fantastic you are a real man. Here’s to more Shenmue, sometime in the next 10 years! Come on Sega…

Until then, Shenmue City anyone?
