Wavemaster releasing a Sonic 20th Anniversary album?

Sonic’s 20th is gaining momentum! First SEGA teasing about the anniversary game, then prototype photos of Jazwares action figures and now a placeholder site for a music album! Looks like SEGA’s Wavemaster has a Sonic 20th Anniversary album planned as evidenced by this recently revealed teaser page www.wave-master.com/sonic20th. Nothing there just yet, except for the above image. A variety of Sonic soundtracks have released under the Wavemaster label, but this is the first time they have created a franchise spanning album. As Wavemaster albums are often two disc affairs, I have no doubt a 20th Anniversary album will be two discs as well.

I’m hoping the potential album gives equal representation of all the years and covers a variety of games. It would be awesome to hear some rarities, such as demo tracks and unreleased tunes. Remixes of old classics would also be pretty sweet. What would you like to hear in a Sonic 20th soundtrack? Sound off below! Any mention of Bentley Jones will result in severe punishment.

I am surprised that Barry of all people was unaware of some of the "Franchise Spanning" Sonic albums that exist.

The True Blue albums are probably the most well known ones (especially because one made Bentley want to sue SEGA) as well as the 10th Anniversary Sonic disc that came with Sonic Adventure 2 limited edition and the Sonic Boom CD as well. There are probably others.

Unless Mitsuyoshi or someone else we all love (certainly not Sunoue) I am kind of hoping there are no remixes, Sonic Team is seriously just awful at those, probably why they rarely do them.

Here is one of the only good ones I could think of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVvz6qyn4JI

    Crush 40 sucks 🙁

  3. I am aware of the True Blue albums, however volume 1 was largely 1997-2008 music aside from the two Sonic CD intro songs and Angel Island Zone remix thanks to it being in Smash Bros. No other Genesis stuff was to be found. The later released volume 2 had two Genesis remixes, but again was mostly second decade stuff.

The Sonic 10th Anniversary album is awesome, however that wasn't released by the Wavemaster label.

My hope is that this 20th album contains a load of original tunes from 1991-2011 (truly franchise spanning) and sprinkles in new remixes and unreleased tracks.

Oh, when you said franchise spanning, I assumed you meant more than just the games.

I think it would be pretty cool if stuff like "Look-A-Like" and the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog intro song were included.
