SEGA Recycles 79% of 16-bit compilations

Sega is readying themselves to re-re-re-release another bunch of 16-bit classics, which prompted Sega-16’s Ken Horowitz to compile a list of games all 3 current gen compilations (Sega Genesis Collection, Sonic Ultimate Collection & the upcoming Gold Collection) share.

It is intresting to note how oddly some titles have been dropped in future compilations for example Streets of Rage 3 is absent in the Gold Collection.

Horowitz also provides his own analysis as to why there is so much redundancy in the compilations and ends his post with something SEGA fans would love…

Give us collections featuring 32x & CD games!

Check out his insightful feature over here.

No more Genesis/MD repacks. I already gave you my money for the Sonic one. It was already full of good 16bits and a couple arcade and Master System games. Give us some more unique stuff like a Mega/SEGA CD or 32x game pack.

What bothered me was the odd removal of certain titles, it isn't like they were running low on disk space.

I don't mind the gradual increase in titles.

I doubt CDX32x combined would've more then 15 worthwhile games.

Your insightful feature link is not correct, takes me to game list.

Edit: your Sega-16 link is broken too…

It's strange that they left off the Phantasy Star games from the Gold edition! Other plans for the series maybe?

I don't see a problem with putting out collections of the same games over and over… you dont HAVE to buy them!

  4. If we can download Wonderboy 3 separately in XBLA / PSN, I'll be happy.

I have no idea why the Sega-16 link isn't working I tried repairing it several times.

The feature list has been fixed, thanks Sharky.
