SEGA’s releasing 3 fighting game ports: Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers and Sonic the Fighters this week

SEGA will be releasing three Model 2 fighting games this week: Virtua Fighter 2Fighting Vipers and Sonic the Fighters. All three are ports are of retro titles, a couple of them can be considered ‘classics’. Sonic the Fighters is probably not known well enough to be a classic, but that doesn’t make it a bad game. In the United States the titles drop tomorrow on PSN and Wednesday on XBLA. Which games will you be getting?

My money is ready for AM2.

VF 2 for sure, FV is likely within a couple weeks, Sonic the Fighters not so much.

Let the Model 2 mayhem begin.

I’ll probably end up with all three. VF2 and FV are naturals. I remember finding a Fighting Vipers arcade cabinet at a local place and playing it for hours. Sonic the Fighters was on a comp for PS2 and GC (I think) called Sonic Mega Collection Plus or some sort and that’s the only way I remember trying it out.

NOW! If we can get them to port over Fighters Megamix, then things will be awesome.

I have the original arcade of Sonic Championship (US Version of Sonic the Fighters), so I’ll be picking up the other two. However, I heard that the version being released on XBL and PSN is an “updated” version to include Honey, Metal Sonic and “Robotonik” as playable characters… Hopefully they fix his name…

I hear there coming in at 400 points each, so 1200 points for all three, well worth it.
