Update: A press release has arrived, and with it clarification of the platforms! The story has been revised to reflect the new information.
Fans of mobile SEGA titles will be excited to hear that a bunch of releases are on the horizon! Today, SEGA has revealed that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 remastered will headline the mobile releases. Also coming is an iOS version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, a mobile adaptation of the 2012 Nintendo 3DS title Rhythm Thief & the Emperor’s Treasure entitled Rhythm Thief & The Paris Caper, and the Japanese action RPG Demon Tribe. As of now, we’re only hearing about iOS releases, if we learn of other mobile operating systems getting the games, we’ll be sure to update this story.
After the break, learn more about each of the titles and check out some snazzy screenshots.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Platforms: iOS, Android | Release Date: November, 2013) remastered continues The Taxman’s efforts to bring the classic Sonic titles to HD using the Retro Engine. Expect solid gameplay and visuals, as well as a few easter eggs. When we learn more of what The Taxman has planned, we’ll be sure to share it. Thank goodness we have Sonic Retro writers on staff.
A little over a year ago, we reported that Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (Platforms: iOS, Android | Release Date: Winter 2013) was heading to iOS in 2013. It looks like SEGA is making good on this, as we now can confirm that the game is making its way to mobile devices. The game will have a mobile-friendly World Tour mode, and will feature multiplayer both locally and online for up to 4 players.
2012’s Rhythm Thief was a very fun Nintendo 3DS title, now SEGA has planned a mobile adaptation of the game entitled Rhythm Thief & The Paris Caper (Platforms: iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch | Release Date: Early 2014). Given the change in title, we have to wonder if this will be a new story or a cliff notes version of the console game. What we do know is that the game is to have 50 missions and 20 songs.
Most exciting is the announcement that Demon Tribe (Platforms: iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch | Release Date: Winter, 2013), a once Japan only title, is making its way to the west! Directed by Jet Set Radio producer Riichiro Yamada, Demon Tribe is a card collecting action RPG in which players build teams of fighters and upgrade them by catching demons and combining their powers. Given the Jet Set Radio connection, this is definitely a game to check out.
Overall, a pretty exciting and varied collection of games covering several genres. SEGA has yet to give firm dates or prices, but as usual when we hear something we’ll let you know.

Great, especially concerning Demon Tribe that I was waiting for a long time… In addition in the game are also involved Ryuta Ueda and Masayoshi Kikuchi themselves linked to Jet Set Radio ^_^
Oh, the Rhythm Thief game is an adaption? Was hoping it was a sequel 🙁
I was going to buy the first All Stars Racing this past weekend but decided not too. Now I’m glad I did.
