Animated “GOLDEN AXE” series in the works by Mike McMahan for Comedy Central

According to Variety, an animated adaptation of SEGA’s beloved franchise, Golden Axe, will be produced by Titmouse and is currently greenlit to air on Comedy Central with 10 episodes ordered. The show will be led by co-creators Mike McMahan and Joe Chandler.

Matthew Rhys (“The Americans,” “Perry Mason”), Danny Pudi (“Community,” “Mythic Quest”), Lisa Gilroy (“Jury Duty,” “Interior Chinatown”), Liam McIntyre (“Spartacus,” “The Flash”), and Carl Tart (“Grand Crew,” “Star Trek: Lower Decks”) will be part of the voice cast.

The official description of the series states the show “Follows veteran warriors Ax Battler (McIntyre), Tyris Flare (Gilroy), and Gilius Thunderhead (Rhys) as they once again battle to save Yuria from the evil giant Death Adder who just won’t seem to stay dead. Fortunately, this time they have the inexperienced and underprepared Hampton Squib (Pudi) on their side.”

Yeah, strike while the iron is hot…

  3. Excited for this, simply because I love the animation Titmouse has done. The show will likely be in the vein of Lower Decks and Venture Bros. Comedy but with real villains and stakes, so it’s not just a laugh fest.

Don’t think it should have ethnic yanks or canucks in it voicing these characters, just doesn’t look /sound right, British accents like Scottish, Welsh and even English would work better. Though aside from Welshman mathew rhys, can’t see how the others would fit.
