SEGA has launched a brand-new initiative project called “SEGA Universe“ to celebrate anniversaries of certain legacy IPs with new various projects down the line such as OutRun, Streets of Rage, NiGHTS into Dreams, Sakura Wars and many more. SEGA Universe is a project based on the concept of “NO OLD, STAY GOLD” that are still loved by fans. SEGA plans to focus on titles that will celebrate their anniversary in 2026 and will develop an anniversary project and deliver nostalgic yet new entertainment content.
Judging from the newly released concept movie trailer, some spotted hints of possible merchandise tied to NiGHTS into Dreams and Sakura Wars might be in the works. With the official site now live and more details rolling out, it’s clear SEGA is gearing up for a full celebration for its legacy IPs. What other projects do you think SEGA could have in the works for these (or other) classic IPs? Drop your predictions and thoughts in the comments below!

They specifically mention ‘movies, music and fashion’. There are Streets of Rage and Out Run movies already in production, that would line up. For the rest, some smaller video series, music and clothing seems realistic.
No too shabby but let’s be real here: As excited as I am for the streets of rage film and possibly even Michael Bays outrun if they ever get made, I really wished sega would just reboot sega ages or even team up with hamster to get certain sega arcade and console games available to play on modern platforms. Well have to wait and see i guess.
Yeah. It seems like SEGA is hellbent on putting their IPs in and on everything EXCEPT new games in most cases. There’s so much officially licensed clothes out there for SEGA properties, it’s ridiculous. Jet Set has had how many clothing lines, yet only two games, the last being in 2002! Geez!
