SEGAbits .5 and the future

Hello SEGAbytes, is that what we should call you guys? Maybe? Most likely not because it sounds like a cheesy television show from the 90’s. Regardless we have launched a SEGAbits .5, just minor changes behind the scene and the new featured bar (up above). Like always we are open to suggestions.

As for the future, we have some projects we are kicking around that we are not going to reveal just yet. We do however plan to start up weekly features and original content. I will like to thank our incredible community for the support and all you readers for making our launch successful. Yes, today this site turns 2 months old, seems longer doesn’t it?

Rumor: Yu Suzuki to show Playstation Move game at E3?

I think we have all asked ourselves, what happen to Yu Suzuki? It has been a long time since the man has released a video game. But according to a tipster at Go Fanboy, it seems that he might make his return at E3, showing off a new Playstation Move title.

According to the tipster, it will be a 1 vs. 1 combat game. He also stated that “Yu wants this to be about real human interaction and competition.” This could just be a Playstation 3 port of Psy-Phi or maybe something new?

SEGA goes crazy with “Lilpri”

Above is the new 15 second TV spot for their Lil Puritsu arcade game, which is a card game where the user purchases the cards and scans them into the game.

Obviously the game is not aimed at us at all, its a little girl game. Hit the jump to see the second advert showing a little Japanese girl playing the game, how exciting.

– Maxima (“Next Tony Project”)

The collection will be released in August at the price of 1,540 yen for the set of four. To check out the last two collections, hit the jump…

Mealtime Strategy: Make food, SEGA Style

Its bad enough that you probably watch video game related television, visit video game sites and listen to video game music all the time. What about cooking? Can we turn that into a geeky chore? The answer is yes.

Mealtime Strategy blog has a ton of receipts for video game related foods, yes SEGA related foods. Is that some Sweets of Rage? Would be prefect for Easter you know!

Rumor: Sonic 4 leaks lead to PartnerNet closure? [Update]

Update: DMNBT at Sonic Stadium has indicated that PartnerNET is back up;

“Quick update: PartnerNET is back online (actually it has been for a few hours already, I just woke up).”

Read the Original story below:

We all know that a ton of Sonic 4 leaks have happen in the past few months, those leaks came from the Xbox 360; namely their PartnerNet service. What is PartnerNet?

“PartnerNet is the name of the developers-only alternate Xbox Live network used by developers to beta test game content downloads, and games developed for Xbox Live Arcade. PartnerNet runs on Xbox 360 debug kits, which are used both by developers and by the gaming press.”

Seems that SEGA is getting really serious with the leaks. I think Microsoft should (don’t know if they do this) allow an option not to put your work on the PartnerNet network.

SEGA Studios San Francisco closes today

It is now official, SEGA Studios San Francisco is closing down today. Formerly known as Secret Level, they have brought us such timeless masterpieces such as Golden Axe: Beast Rider and Iron Man.

“SEGA of America is sad to announce the closure of SEGA Studios San Francisco. It is an immensely talented studio and we wish all the best to all of the staff in all their future endeavors. Moving forward, SEGA will continue to pursue external development opportunities all over the world and will continue to grow the renowned SEGA brand.”

They were working on Iron Man 2 and claiming it was going to be a ton better than the first game, but seeing all this drama; like being fired, I doubt it will be good at all.

Seven GameWorks locations shutting down

SEGA Entertainment’s restructuring plan sadly means they will have to shut down some GameWorks locations. SEGA hopes to open up some of the locations again, after the resturcturing is done.

“Long Beach, CA; Columbus, OH; Detroit, MI; Minneapolis, MN; Indianapolis, IN; Tampa, FL; and Miami, FL. The company has introduced potential new tenants to mall ownership, in hopes that some locations may be reopened in the future.

Hopefully SEGA finds a way to make their GameWorks business a bit more profitable. For the full press release hit the jump.

We promised an exciting future for SEGAbits and we are going to deliver. We have decided to team up with a Final Fantasy website and launch Square-Enix Bits; which we hope will be your number one source for Final Fantasy and Square-Enix related news.

As a way to celebrate our new venture, we have decided to theme our site in celebration of this event. Have fun and remember, blue skies in games.

Virtua Fighter meets Street Fighter

Check out SEGA of Japan’s new April Fools video for Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown. They are showing the new gameplay, but does it remind you of another game?

Maybe it is a game called Super Street Fighter 4. Maybe? Just a bit? Pretty cool prank, lets hope they keep it up.

Goozex adds SEGA Genesis and SEGA CD trading

Anyone here can tell you that I love Goozex. It basically lets you trade in games you never play, for points that you use on Goozex to get other games. So you never really trade a game for a game. It has a 100% guarantee and no one rips you on shipping (like ebay).

“Since we launched our site in 2006, a frequently asked question has been about adding classic game system titles to our service. We’re happy to say that we are going to meet that demand. Our focus has been to become the best in online game trading and adding retro titles to our service helps maintain that vision. Like many of our members, we’re excited about trading classic games from the titles that started it all!” –Jonathan Dugan, COO and co-founder of Goozex

The site already had SEGA Dreamcast trading, so adding SEGA Genesis and SEGA CD is makes me very happy. All we need is SEGA Saturn. Since its my post, I can put a referral link to sign up.
