Project X Zone 2 drops price to under $20 bucks!

custom_project_x_zone_2_wallpaper_by_kirby_kid-d995008Namco’s Project X Zone 2 just came out a few months ago and its already dropping below $20 on Amazon. Last I checked, it was around $17! As I’ve been playing Project X Zone 2 on and off the last month, I can tell you its worth the price of entry just for all the great SEGA cameos. Not only that, Namco fixed up most of the complaints I had with the first one and best of all it has its own self contained story. Did I mention Segata Sanshiro is in it?

Total War: Warhammer to support Steam Workshop at launch

TotalWarWarhammerModManagerCreative Assembly and SEGA have confirmed that Total War: Warhammer will support Steam Workshop mods. I’m personally not surprised. Why? Mostly because the franchise has always been there to support mods. But I guess Creative Assembly said prior that they wouldn’t be support mods. I guess they had a change of heart.

From day one Total War: Warhammer will support Steam Workshop to upload, browse, follow, discuss, and install mods. To manage it the team created the Total War Mod Manager, which is pictured above. Creative Assembly has also updated their mod Assembly Kit which adds functionality and includes battle map editing later this year.

Creative Assembly also said that they already have early mods being worked on from people that had early access via modding summits held by the company. This way there will already be mods populating the Steam Workshop from day one.  Total War: Warhammer launches on PCs on May 24th.

Jet Set Radio HD available on Xbox One via backward compatibility

JetSetRadioHDXboneJet Set Radio is the newest game to join the Xbox One family thanks to Microsoft’s 360 backwards compatibility. The game was released back in 2012 on the Xbox 360 and if you bought it you can now play it on your shiny new Xbox One.

Its nice that Jet Set Radio is technically available on a new platform, makes me hope that maybe SEGA hasn’t given up on the brand. I know fans haven’t, since Jet Set Radio Future HD re-release is hot in demand on social media sites. Maybe Microsoft will start backwards compatibility program with original Xbox titles? I wish!

SEGA launches ‘SEGA Arcade Game History’ interactive site

SEGA has launched an interactive site called ‘SEGA Arcade Game History‘ detailing most of their published arcade machines, to celebrate the history of their long running arcade brands. The timeline starts with the release of 1973’s Pong-Tron and ends with the 2012 release of maimai. Obviously the site isn’t complete since SEGA has released more arcade games, their latest big one being SEGA-AM2’s KanColle that came out this year.

Going to be honest, I love when SEGA puts up sites like this celebrating their glorious arcade past. I wish SEGA West had a English version of this ‘SEGA Arcade Game History‘ on their site, but whatcha gonna do, right?

Persona 5 getting special broadcast on May 5th

P5_fami_h2h3_160411Persona 5 fans have been waiting for more information regarding the latest entry that is due out this summer in Japan. I guess Atlus knows there are fans around the world waiting for information regarding Persona 5, so they have announced a Niconico special broadcast for May 5th at 21:30 Japanese time (5:30 am PT/8:30 am ET).

Atlus will call their Persona 5 broadcast the ‘Take Tokyo Tower’ and will go live when the counter on their site hits zero.

Persona 5 hits PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 this Summer in Japan.

Atlus is handling Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE localization

TokyoMirageSessionsIt seems that some Nintendo fans aren’t too thrilled with Nintendo of America’s liberties when it comes to localization. Not only that, Nintendo of America has changed characters and/or removed content in the American versions of the recent Fire Emblem. If you were looking forward to the Nintendo Wii U Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem inspired Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, fear not! Nintendo has confirmed via Gematsu that Atlus was in charge of localizing Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE!

“Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE was localized by Atlus in a way that is consistent with the localization work they do on games they publish. It was a priority to ensure the game feels familiar and appeals to longtime Atlus fans. Any changes made to the in-game content were due to varying requirements and regulations in the many different territories Nintendo distributes its products.”

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE is out now in Japan, will launch in North America and Europe on June 24th. Who here is picking up a copy of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE?

Infinite Space getting a reprint by Canadian retailer

infinnite_space_esrbRemember that Nintendo DS game by Platinum Games called Infinite Space? No? I don’t blame you since not too many people picked it up. Now that Platinum Games has become more popular over the years, many fans have been trying to find a copy of the game but it is now considered rare. Don’t worry it seems that Canadian retailer VideoGamesPlus has ordered reprints of the following game titles:

These are considered the last Nintendo DS carts to be produced and all come brand new and sealed. Each game (except GTA) costs $49.99 CDN (39.46 USD) and according to the store page are ‘region free’. But even if they aren’t, American systems can play Canadian DS carts. The site is also running a free shipping promotion this month on all orders over $40 dollars!

Alien: Colonial Marines Overhaul Mod tries to fix the game

ACM_2016-03-25_18-08-54-942Alien: Colonial Marines was a big fat mistake, a game that should have never been released and earned SEGA (and developer Gearbox) lots of ill will from gamers due to the disaster that it was. From false promises in advertising to the game being rushed to store shelves to make a quick buck out of the license, Alien fans felt betrayed.

Well, if you still have the game on your Steam list, you might want to give TemplarGFX’s new Alien: Colonial Marines Overhaul mod a shot! SEGA News Bits: Shining series turns 25 years old

25 years ago today, on March 29th 1991, Shining in the Darkness released to the Japanese Mega Drive. While the original game did not light the world on fire, the later Shining Force games would become some of the best strategy RPGs ever produced. The series is still going strong, at least in Japan, with Blade Arcus from Shining EX releasing just last year.

Whatever you may think about the recent installments, most fans agree that the Shining Force games were legendary and the original Shining in the Darkness is to thank for starting the franchise. Join us on this SEGA News Bits as we share our Shining memories and talk about the possible future of the series, and don’t forget to brush up on all the SEGA anniversaries hitting this year!

The upcoming 7th Dragon III Code: VFD will also have a day one limited edition that will come with a collector’s box and a art book, this will be a free upgrade to anyone that buys the game when it comes out (while supplies last).

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone to launch with two versions, 220 total songs

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone is coming to PlayStation 4, but we didn’t know before is that it will be coming in two different variants. Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone is set to hit Japanese PSN later this year and according to the latest issue of Famitsu this is what each version will come with:

  • Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone – Future Sound: will include 120 songs focused on the Hatsune Miku: Project Diva home console series.
  • Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone – Colorful Tone: will include 100 songs focused on the arcade game and 3DS Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai series.

Both will include 220 songs and 340 modules to keep your Hatsune Miku addiction going. The game has been confirmed to run at 1080p and 60fps, giving gamers the ability to customize six characters that can appear in-game music videos. This will be the first game in the series to also offer key configuration, which allows one button to trigger multiple presses. No western release has been announced for Hasune Miku: Project Diva Future Tone.
