Renegade Ops Video Previews from IGN and Gamespot

Today, IGN has shown a hands-on preview of Renegade Ops. They showcased the many different characters and vehicles in the game. Meanwhile, Gamespot got an interview and long demo of the game. I’ll admit, I overlooked this game completely at E3, but once I got a hands on at the Sega Arcade during Comic Con, I was sold.

Renegade Ops will be available in September. Click “Continue Reading” for the Gamespot video.

Sonic Generations 3DS: Mushroom Hill in Action

NLifeNintendoMag gives us our first peek at Mushroom Hill in Sonic Generations for 3DS. All the badniks and traps from the original version are included. In fact, I believe it’s very close to the exact same level design too. Personally, I’m still not feeling it for the classic gameplay in 3DS, but we’ll see how things improve as we move closer to release. I’m really excited to see some modern video as I really enjoyed modern gameplay of GHZ back at E3.

Sonic Generations 3DS is currently scheduled for a late fall release.

Archie starts a Sonic magazine in the U.S.

Much like their “Life with Archie” magazine, Archie is planning a quarterly magazine dedicated to Sonic “Sonic Super Special”. Similar to the UK’s “Sonic the Comic”, it will be mostly made of reprints of some of the bigger Sonic stories from the comics (although the UK version had new stories in theirs), but with some extra and articles included. The first issue arrives in late October. Press release after the clickity-click.

Review: Captain America: Super Soldier (Wii)

When Nuckles87 assigned me to do the hands on for Captain America on Wii during E3, I wasn’t too happy. The game just looked like another washed down, crappy port. I was surprised however, at the level of quality the game had. The game is handled by High Voltage. Mainly the HV team that handled Tournament of Legends (poorly reviewed but I thought it was okay). Now, I bought the PS3 version which I love despite how some may feel (No offense Aki), but after playing and beating the Wii version, does it hold up well or is it just another watered-down Wii port? Read on. Read further down for a Bonus Feature.

Sonic Generations interview with Aaron Webber

UPDATE: Extra comment at the end of the interview.

Sega had a very strong presence at the San Diego Comic Con this year. Not only did they have a Sega Arcade down in the Gaslamp Quarter, but on the floor they had Captain America at the Marvel booth and two demo stations of Sonic Generations at the Archie Comics booth. Surprisingly (or maybe not), there was no 3DS Generations demo anywhere to be found.

At one of the demo stations, I found Sonic brand manager Aaron Webber. Trust me when I say there’s no more likable fella working at Sega. Look at him. He’s just so gosh darn huggable ya wanna stuff him in your Warner Bros Comic Con bag and take him home with “AHEM!” Anyway, as he manned the station, many people were checking out the demo. Mostly the modern version. In fact, one fan kept coming back every day and managed to beat Aaron’s record on modern by one second! When he had some time, we went to the back of the Archie booth and set up an interview. (I wanted to snuggle, but he refused. XD Kidding, kidding.)

Sega @ Comic Con Photo Gallery

Ain’t no party like a Sega party cuz the Sega party don’t stop!

Sega was out at full force this year. Heavily promoting their upcoming games. Especially Sonic Generations and Captain America. Whether it was the Sega Arcade, the Captain America: Super Soldier ads plastered all over or the beautiful Sega babes, Sega was promoting themselves in a way I haven’t seen since the Dreamcast days. I was lucky enough to have the Sega Arcade just two doors down from my hotel and spent a good amount of time there before heading home. I’ll have hands on reports of Aliens DS (yes Nux, you were right), Renegade Ops and HOTD Overkill later in the week, but for now………..the pics! (56K’ers beware.)

Signed Copy of Mega Drive Tetris On Sale For One MILLION Dollars!!

…Or best offer. Source

Ebay seller shinsnk is selling his rare Mega Drive copy of Tetris signed by it’s creator Alekséi Pázhitnov for as much as he can get. “This is truly a rare, exclusive, elusive, obscure and desirable centerpiece grial for any collection, it has all: great franchise (Tetris), great history (Sega vs Nintendo, you can google that), scarcity (very few copies) and exclusivity (signed by Alexei). You can expect no more.”

I dunno. For a million dollars, I’d expect quite a bit more myself. I wish him luck though.

SEGA comes to San Diego Comic Con! (Kinda-Sorta)

Not much to add really. SEGA is making it’s presence known to Comic Con fans just a few blocks outside of the convention center. Pretty much all the games that made it to E3 will be there and playable, however SEGA is also promising “an all new unannounced game”. Apparently this new title will be playable. The best part is, it’s open to everyone! No badge required.

Golden Axe (Arcade Version) Now available on PSN Plus for Free!

Finally, some Sega news! It’s been a slow week.

PS Plus subscribers can pick up the arcade version of Golden Axe for free*.  The downloadable title has difficulty options, screen settings and of course, trophies. Expect it to hit regular PSN stores in about a month or so.

*= You are paying for the Plus service so it’s not technically free.

I’m a celebrity!

Before I talked about my E3 experiences on the Swingin’ Report Show, I was a guest on “The Spindash” the best darn Sonic-related podcast that hasn’t had an episode in half a year. GXEchidna interviewed me. He’s a great guy and we have the same interest in podcasts. The episode is even named after my full username. “Much Ado about Shigamado”.

You can catch it here.

Segabits@E3 and Sonic Boom in Pictures!

Well, it took awhile, but I finally figured out how to put in these large pictures in without crashing the whole dang site and getting my sorry butt in trouble. Ends up I have a program that will let me resize pictures on my hard drive so FINALLY I can put up my E3 pics for all to enjoy. We’ve got the Sega booth and Sonic Boom so be sure to check out the pics by clicking the link. 56k’ers need not apply.

SASASR for iOS (iPhone, iPad) Available Tonight. Only $1.99!

Just in time for Sonic’s 20th birthday, TSSZ reports that Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing will be, well, racing to the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch tonight. The game is a higher-resolution version of the DS port. The best news is it will be available for the low, low price of only $1.99 U.S. (1.19 Europe) until June 25. At that point it goes up to $4.99. I got the chance to play this at E3 and it’s a well done port that even looks great on an iPad.
