SEGA Not to Attend Comic-Con

A week out from Comic-Con, SEGA is still not listed on Comic-Con’s website as an exhibitor. Now we know why. Kellie Parker, SEGA’s Community Manager, has given us the final word on their attendance:

Unfortunately, SEGA will not have a booth at Comic Con.

Kellie

This means, that, regrettably, we won’t be covering any SEGA games during the event. I was hoping to get some proper hands on time with Conduit 2’s single player during the event, to make up for our inability to cover it during E3, since the single player mode was for press only.

Idolmaster teaming up with Project Diva 2nd

Big Sonic news is new Sonic voice cast

The rumor is correct, the big Sonic news that SEGA has just announced is that Roger Craig Smith will be taking the role of Sonic the Hedgehog. You might remember his voice talent as Chris Redfield (Resident Evil 5), Ezio Auditore da Firenze (Assassin’s Creed 2) and Siegfried Schtauffen (Soulcalibur IV).

He was also the voice for Ted Ustinov, Vyse Inglebard, Johann Oswald Wisen and others in Valkyria Chronicles. That game had good voices, no? Just to make the announcement bigger, they also announced the new voice actors for Tails. Kate Higgins will play tails, she did voices for Naomi and RinRin in MadWorld. Also a ton of voices in Valkyria Chronicles.

It has been confirmed that Mike Pollock will stay as Eggman. Mike Pollock has been voicing Eggman since 2005, after the death of Deem Bristow. Almost every voice actor for the game characters has changed, but we have only seen Sonic and Tails as of yet.

Vanquish: This is gonna be fun trailer

Here is the latest trailer for Vanquish, in this trailer it just has gameplay with some techno soundtrack in the background. Its amazing seeing how much is going on screen at once and frame rate stays solid.

The game will be out in October worldwide, pre-order it at some stores to receive free DLC weapon pack.

Rumor: Sonic to get a new voice actor?

There was a post by SEGA community manager AAUK stating that SEGA has some ‘ground breaking’ news coming regarding Sonic franchise. People seem to think it might be a new voice actor.

Jason Griffith, current voice actor for Sonic has stated that he will not be lending his voice for the upcoming Wii exclusive, Sonic Colors:

“Thanks for sending [a video of Sonic Colours]. Not sure who is voicing Sonic, unfortunately, so I can’t really say. Also, we have all signed NDA’s in the past, so I don’t really “speak up” on a lot of things involving SEGA.”

Or it could be that Sonic 4 and Sonic Colors won’t have voice work. Wouldn’t that be awesome?

Nagoshi speaks his mind about 3DS

Nagoshi isn’t afraid of saying what he thinks. He has stated that since the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo has pursued their video game consoles to be more toys than entertainment machines. He has suggested that he wants to pitch a few games for the newest handheld. Hopefully the new games aren’t Yakuza related.

“If future portable game machines demand that both social aspects and immersion be satisfied for when you play multiplayer and single player for instance, 3DS firmly answers these with Wi-Fi and 3D. I’d like to make a variety of proposals.”

Well, I guess its not that bad of a comment. Though, DS also had Wifi. Has Nagoshi used that? Read what other developers had to say over at andriasang.

AVP console versions no longer supported

It seems for all those people that purched Aliens vs. Predator on consoles and were hoping for a patch to make online better, adding wanted features or new maps are now screwed.Clumsyorchid, community manager for the title, has confirmed that the console patches have be cancelled.

“I’ve just received a mail this AM regarding patches for the console versions of AVP and I regret to inform everyone that these have sadly been scrapped.

I had previously made a claim that these were coming and at the time, this was very much on the table. For the console community, I apologize, as I know there are many features and updates that you’d like to see. I’ll keep fighting internally for this to happen, but until I hear otherwise, there will not be a console patch for either Xbox or PS3.”

Sadly this is not the first time that SEGA have published a game that needed patches and they just stop supporting it. This is an issue SEGA should fix, also release those needed patches faster. Where are the Alpha Protocol patches? At least PC users get future patches, lucky them.

NiD.com interviews Yuji Naka

That’s right! The great people over at nightsintodreams.com have scored an interview with the man behind some of the most beloved Sega characters such as Sonic, Ristar and of course NiGHTS.

Being NiGHTS fans and not just the normal everyday press tools they got in some pretty good NiGHTS related questions that I recommend giving a good read over.

Like, did you know Steven Spielberg was the first person to play NiGHTS out side of Sega staff? What?

SEGA to announce two more “big” games

SEGA West superimo Mike Hayes has recently revealed to CVG that the publisher is planning to announce two more “big” games by the end of the year, aimed directly at the core base of the 360 and Playstation 3 userbase, talking to CVG, Hayes commented;

“Then we’ve got two other big games that we’ll be announcing this year for 2011 and 2012. So we’re not going to be overly aggressive – but we’re going to try to have one or two games each year in that segment.”

Whether these titles happen to be developed in house either by SEGA West or one of SEGA’s Japanese teams, or an outsourced project. One thing was clear though in that Hayes was regarded the major titles to be aimed towards the core market for the HD consoles in much the same way Vanquish is. For the quote from the interview, see the link below.

Black Panther: New Yakuza Chapter trailer #2

Today the new Black Panther: New Yakuza Chapter trailer goes up on the interwebs. It shows off some of the cutscense that remind me of the Metal Gear Solid PSP games. The guys at AndriaSang have translations and in-depth info.

If you fast forward some more it will show the fighting, multiplayer and even the mini games. Something I never understood about games like this, do they hire someone to do the punching sound effect? Why is the sound effect so comical? I mean, no one really sounds like that when they are being punched!

SEGA launches new arcade in Yoyogi, Japan

SEGA has launched a new arcade palace in Yoyogi, Japan. This new arcade building will have 134 machines spanning across 690 square meters of space. Now if only I knew what a meter was…

They will have the latest games like AM2’s Border Break and Project Diva Arcade. The location is next to a train station, ensuring that business men will walk in to use the restroom and will be unable to resist a singing game featuring underage girls. They love that stuff.

G4TV: Sonic Colors Interview

Not really an interview, since you have to ask questions. More like someone at the SEGA booth telling us what the game is about, while she can barely talk due to screaming at Sonic fans all day because they were doing odd stuff at the booth.

Like always, the game is looking rather fantastic in my opinion.
