SEGA not planning to re-enter hardware business

Believe it or not, this is not a real console.
You have probably already read all those rumors by Zach Morris, you know, those rumors that SEGA is going to re-enter the hardware business? Well, Mike Hayes says it is not true.
“Absolutely not. We’re a software company. We certainly won’t be getting back into hardware, that’s for sure.”
Though, even if it was true, you think he would let something this big slip? But obviously it isn’t true, Zach Morris has been making rumors up like this since SEGA went third party. Nothing to see here.

SEGA hopes to re-release around 20 DC titles by next summer

SEGA has stated they are planning on bringing 18 to 24 DC titles to PSN and XBLA by next summer. Shenmue re-release seems pretty likely now. This is according to Mike Hayes, who of course is the president of SEGA West.
“We hope to have somewhere between 18 to 24. Around that.” – Mike Hayes
So what about SEGA Saturn? Mike Hayes says that right now, they have no plans on bringing SEGA Saturn games to HD consoles. Come on, give us some Panzer Dragoon and Shining Force III!

Sonic Free Rider gameplay footage
So you guys have already seen Kinect shown off at the Microsoft press event and if you are like me, you where probably disapointed you did not see a SEGA game using it. Well fear no more, here is someone playing Sonic’s Kinect Riding game for over 5 minutes.
I’m not a fan of Sonic Rider games and this new one is not going to change my mind, especially playing it with Kinect. People are saying that SEGA has confirmed that the game will only play with Kinect, no controller option.
E3 2010: Crazy Taxi Hands-On

Aside from Shenmue and, perhaps, Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi is the most iconic franchise the Dreamcast every produced. So it comes as no surprise that the original game has joined Sonic Adventure as one of the first games in the Dreamcast revival SEGA is now pushing. Everyone here knows how the game plays: you play a taxi driver who drives people to far away locations in ridiculously short amounts of times, throwing every traffic law to the wind in the hopes of getting the largest fair possible from the customer.
E3 2010: Tournament of Legends Hands-On
I got to get some solid hands on time with Tournament of Legends today, and to my surprise, I like what I saw. Tournament of Legends hasn’t exactly had the best advertising campaign behind it. The trailers we’ve seen have, at least in my opinion, made the game look like some mediocre budget title. But in ToL’s case, initial impressions can be deceiving.
Sonic Colours direct feed gameplay
More gameplay of Sonic Colours! This time someone playing that kind of understands how to play a Sonic game and it is direct feed too. Nice!
Not much else to say, looks good, sounds good and I’m enjoying those power ups! The drilling one is very cool and I can imagine some very cool ideas coming out of it. How about an under ground maze to dig though?
Another video, this time of the Cake zone after the jump:
Sonic Colours gameplay video!
And it looks really, really good!
Graphically, What I can tell from the off-screen video anyway, it looks fantastic for a Wii game. In fact it looks great period. It’s full of colour and detail… The unrealistic art direction looks like a world a blue hedgehog belongs in! (For once.)
But graphics and art direction aside the game looks fun! At the start I was a little worried, the 3D section could use work, it’s looking a bit sparse and linear but as soon as it went to 2.5D I was in my element. Colour me excited. (lol pun)
I also heard a rumour that Sonic doesn’t talk… Which would be a god send.
Valkyria Chronicles 2 video interview
The Conduit 2 to have melee weapons; will utilize Wii Motion Plus

Alright, so I had a nice chat with Jeremiah Cauthorn, the weapons designer for the Conduit 2. I was asking him about how the Wii Motion Plus will be used. Apparently, aside from tracking your movements off screen, it’s also going to be used for melee weapons! He couldn’t give me an further details, but regardless, it looks like that’s going to be part of the Conduit 2 experience.
We will have a preview of the Conduit 2, as well a video interview with Cauthorn, up tomorrow.
Sonic Colours Interview with Takashi Iizuka
Our man at E3, Nuckles87 scored a pretty nice interview today with Takashi Iizuka. As we are teamed up with Sonic Stadium for this the SS guys get first dibs on any Sonic related news… Which is fair enough as we’ll be getting all of the other, better Sega news exclusive to bits.
Here is some choice parts of the interview:
SS – Is this game made with just children in mind, or more for a general audience?
Iizuka – Of course, we are putting in kid friendly elements, but it’s not just for kids. The are some challenging elements put in as well.
SS – What is the length of the game, in hours?
Iizuka – The game’s still in development, but in previous Sonic games, there would be act 1 and act 2 of 1 zone. In this case, for each of these worlds there are several stages. Also, once you get more color powers from other worlds, you can go back to older levels and find new paths to access. It also depends on how dedicated you are to finding all the items in the game.
and
SS – Last question, any chance of a new NiGHTS or Burning Rangers game?
Iizuka – (Laughs) We can’t talk about that right now.
Make sure you read the rest of the interview HERE!
Sonic Free Riders screenshots hit the net

We already knew that Sonic Free Riders was coming to Microsoft Kinect, but now we have the first screenshots of the game. Like we expected before, this has the same look as the last two Sonic Rider games, even down to graphics.
The game is being aimed as a retail release, since it is going to be one of the 15 launch games with Natal.

SEGA bringing Super Monkey Ball and Sonic to 3DS
There is a list of titles for 3DS floating around, showing all the games that publishers will be releasing for the new Nintendo handheld. SEGA has listed two titles, one just called Sonic (not final name) and the other Super Monkey Ball (not final name).
I’m not shocked, Super Monkey Ball is always used on new devices like iPhone and Banana Blitz was a launch title for the Nintendo Wii. Sonic obviously sells well on a Nintendo system and Sonic will also be a launch title on Kinect.

First Shogun 2: Total War screenshots + Preview
The first screenshots have arried for Shogun 2: Total War and shows what one has come to expect from the series, with large armies coming face to face with each, boats to plot the landing of your forces but as well as, certain landscapes to enjoy. There also happens to be concept art and Japanese stylized art to be found but from the screenshots the game does look as impressive as the previous title in the series. CVG also happen to have a four paged preview on the title so for those who want to read an early insight in the title will have more than enough to read up on.
[Screenshots & Art and CVG’s four paged preview] – Thanks for the tipoff Pao!
SEGA to support the 3DS
See the list on top? Those are the publishers supporting Nintendo’s new 3DS. Nintendo’s conference was just over and I have to say, was pretty impressive. Here I was embracing the worse.
Even though most companies already announced some sort of game for the new device, SEGA has not. Most likely will be a Sonic game, but I hope its a new entry to the Rub Rabbits series.
