SEGA in the Charts: Japanese sales 6 – 12 June 2011

Continue to read on to see how well Kazuma’s latest adventure did.

Sonic Generations on 3DS to have multiplayer?

SEGA of Japan has put up their website for Sonic Generations. They have screenshots of the HD versions of the game, very nice and fancy stuff.

Here is something odd. The HD versions of the game say they are single player titles, but the 3DS lists 1 to 2 players. The 3DS already confirmed it will get an exclusive level, will it also get exclusive multiplayer?

Samurai Blood Show turns out to be iOS game

Do you like Samurais and Blood? Do you have an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch? You are in luck if you live in Japan. If you remember correctly, we talked about SEGA trademarking “Samurai Blood Show”, this is for western release. So you will probably have to wait later for a world wide release.

Above is a video showing off the game in action. Not too impressive graphically. Looks like they made the game on a smaller budget. Game is launching with three price tiers: Free, Plus (350 Yen) and Complete (1200 Yen).

Get drunk on some Yakuza of the End liquor

Yakuza 3, 4 and the PSP spinoff all had a liquor tie-in. Now it’s time for Yakuza of the End.

SEGA is once again teaming up with Sifuku Shuzo to bring you a special Yaukza-branded liquor bottle. This contains Seifuku Shikwasa flavor. Never heard of it, but it looks delicious.

Yu Suzuki talks Shenmue and open-world games

Yu Suzuki was interviewed in the latest Famitsu issue, isn’t it great having more and more Yu Suzuki content? This time around he talks about why Shenmue cost so much. Basically his team was an arcade team and they tried to do a game that wasn’t thought about before, on a console that they haven’t really worked on much.

“The main difference between open-world games and other types of games is the overwhelming size of them. Making all the endless objects that build up the world one by one, and portraying how the weather and time of day affects it all, requires massive amounts of time and manpower. “For example, if you enter a building, the room on the other side of the door doesn’t exist until the game generates it in the sliver of time when the player pulls the knob. We didn’t make every tree in town individually, either. There are a bunch of graphic resources for tree branches and leaves, and trees are generated mathematically based off of them. The NPCs in town are also independent — instead of giving unique motions to every single one, they all function independently based on road data and behavior pattern programming.” – Yu Suzuki, producer and director for Shenmue

Not to mention all the details that Shenmue had, which most had to be done by hand!

Virtua Fighter gets El Shaddai crossover

[Example: Jean’s title says “Daijoubuda” (It’s okay) and Goh’s says “Mondainai” (No problem). Both popular El Shaddai phrases.]

SEGA and Ignition have struck up a deal for an odd crossover between El Shaddai and SEGA’s successful arcade fighter Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown.

The crossover will have some of El Shaddai’s most known phrases and when the user clears certain conditions in VF, you’ll unlock the phrases as titles (which appear under your character’s picture).

Never heard of the “El Shaddai” franchise, so I did a quick google search. Hey Ignition, this crossover already worked, since you got +1 more person google searching your game.

Next Shining game’s marketing assets leaked?

According to AndriaSang, these images have popped up online and have been touted as being marketing assets for the next Shining game that SEGA has teased. They say it is probably fake, but since we run rumors here, why not see them over.

According to the assets the code name for the game is “Gensou no Lorelei.” The background story revolves around the empire of Dragonia stealing the spirit power and sending the world into chaos. Not very original, but hit the jump to find out more.

Binary Domain to be playable at E3

SEGA and Microsoft had a retail meeting on Friday, in Japan. One of the things that leaked out from the meeting was the confirmation that Binary Domain would have a playable build at E3.

Will the game live up to our hype? We shall see, since we will be at E3 this year writing up articles about games you care about. Hey SEGA, how about hooking us up with an interview with Nagoshi?

SEGA Japan hinting at more Saturn ports?

Look closely at the Japanese Guardian Heroes website url. Notice how it starts with a ‘SS’, what could this stand for? The obvious? SEGA Saturn. Why would they format a URL like that for a one off title?

This could possibly mean that SEGA is most likely planning on releasing more than one SEGA Saturn title on digital services. I mean, why not? They are already doing Dreamcast releases and overdo SEGA Genesis. Seems like the smart choice.

Guardian Heroes price and dated for Japan

Wait, they just announced this title for Japan? Yes, they have. The website has gone up and says it will be out this summer for our Japanese readers (so basically 2 people). That is not all, they also said it was going to cost 800 Microsoft points. As far as I know this is the first time we have gotten a price point.

Check out the Japanese website here and act like you know what it says.
