Valkyria-Chronicles-4_2017_11-19-17_001

It seems that Valkyria Chronicles 4 will be getting a Season Pass, at least in Japan which will get you post-launch DLC content. The Season Pass will cost you 4,000 JPY ($37.50 USD), saving you 1,000 JPY ($9.36 USD) if you bought each piece of DLC separately.

As for as to what will come with the Season Pass, we have a breakdown after the jump:

It looks like we finally have a release date for the western release of the hotly anticipated, and highly praised, Valkyria Chronicles 4! According to new Amazon listings, the game will be due out October 16, 2018. A fitting time of year given the game itself takes place in a snowy setting. Pre-orders are not live yet, but when they are you can pre-order the game at the following links. No word yet on the expected launch editions, but I’m pretty sure all pre-order listings will default to a steelbook or art book or sticker sheet or magic decoder ring launch edition.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 gets positive review from Famitsu

ValkyriaChronicles4

The PlayStation 4 version of Valkyria Chronicles 4 is hitting Japan March 21, meaning that early Japanese reviews are being release. One of the first ones we got to see is Weekly Famitsu Magazine’s review which scored the game 9/9/9/8 [35/40]. If you don’t know how Weekly Famitsu does scores, they get 4 people to review the game and add up the points. Valkyria Chronicles 4 was the 2nd highest reviewed game this week, being beaten out by Ni no Kuni II. Check out the full scores after the jump:

Phantasy Star Online 2 Cloud hits Japanese Nintendo Switch on April 4th

As you guys know Phantasy Star Online 2: Cloud was announced for the Nintendo Switch, this version of the game will allow Nintendo Switch owners to ‘stream’ the PC version of Phantasy Star Online 2 via the cloud.

During today’s Nintendo Direct it was confirmed that the game will be launching on April 4th and include a free The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild collaboration outfit. Since the Nintendo Switch is ‘region free’, you can technically download the client and link it to your SEGA ID to play. Though if you are interested in playing Phantasy Star Online 2, I would just suggest playing it via the English patch created by Arks Layer.  It would be pretty cool if Phantasy Star Online 2 Cloud allowed you to stream the game played on a local PC via you’re wifi connection, sort of how Sony does remote play with the PlayStation 3/4 and PlayStation Vita. That way it could stream the English patch version.

Or even better, would be cool if we got a Western release, huh?

SEGA shows an hour of Shining Resonance Refrain English gameplay

Yo, I heard you guys like Japanese games but don’t know Japanese. Relax, SEGA got you covered with this double live stream featuring Yakuza Kiwami (which is out already) and the first look at Shining Resonance Refrain in English! About an hour of the gameplay was shown via SEGA’s official live stream. You can check it out above (1:04:00 into the stream)

We also did a SEGA News Bits discussing the announcement which discusses all the details including the game’s launch day edition, pricing and new platforms. Shining Resonance Refrain will be coming this Summer on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. That’s quite a bit of platforms. If you are picking it up, what platform will you be playing it on?

Shining Resonance Refrain coming west this summer on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC

In January this was a rumor we shared, and now it’s confirmed! Shining Resonance Refrain is coming west this summer on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC. The game will release as a Draconic Launch Edition featuring a collectible metal slipcase, priced at $49.99 USD / $64.99 CAD. We did a SEGA News Bits video on the initial announcement of the game back in November of last year, noting that the developers considered this a “worldwide product”. It’s great to see that this plan came to fruition, as the Shining series has been MIA in the west for far too long.

Stay tuned to SEGAbits for pre-order information, including an exact release date, and you can visit the official site shiningresonance.com as well. After the break, check out the full press release!

Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom getting physical release on PS4 and Switch

According to Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom publisher FDG Entertainment, they have teamed up with SEGA to get a physical version of Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom on both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The physical version is set to release day one along with the digital versionMonster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom has been massively delayed, above we have a interview with the game director Fabien Demeulenaere back in 2016! From what I read, the game has been delayed to improve the overall quality and its set to finally launch this summer!

While we got two remakes of Wonder Boy games, including the incredible Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom is set to be an all new adventure for the franchise.

Puyo Puyo Tetris Switch has sold almost a million units

dracopuyo

It looks like Puyo Puyo Tetris is one of Sega’s biggest success stories of last year! Mizuki Hosoyamada of SEGA revealed on the Puyo Puyo Anniversary TV Show 2018 that the Nintendo Switch version of Puyo Puyo Tetris S will soon surpass over a million units worldwide, no doubt that when you combine the other versions of the game (Which also include but not limited to Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita) it’s already a million seller but to see one platform do so fantastically for the game must be a great source of joy for Sega. Hopefully with this news means that future Puyo releases are a lock for localisation, perhaps it might even be a good idea to try and come up with a way to port Puyo Puyo Chronicle onto the Switch? Either way, great news for Puyo fans!

Valkyria Chronicles 4 gets prologue Japanese trailer

SEGA has released a brand spanking new trailer for the upcoming Valkyria Chronicles 4 that goes over the game’s prologue and sets up what will be the game’s upcoming story. Considering that Valkyria Chronicles 4 takes place at the same time as the first game, just following a different squad, you should already know the basic premise for the war going on (that’s assuming you played the first game).

While SEGA West has been kinda silent on the game since they announced it coming west, we we do know is that its coming sometime this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

[UPDATE] The game announced at the event? …. Utawarerumono is coming to China. Utawarerumono is a “adult tactical role-playing visual novel” that was published in the West by Atlus in 2017. [/UPDATE]

Sonic Forces Super Sonic DLC is now free, forever

If you guys remember last year, we ran a story that Sonic Forces Super Sonic DLC was free for a limited time, after the initial release (January 23rd) they would be charging users $1.99 to download the ability to turn into Super Sonic. We rightfully complained about this since Super Sonic has been a free unlockable in Sonic the Hedgehog games since the transformation was introduced in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The idea of turning a long running feature of a franchise into a product didn’t sit well with us and other Sonic the Hedgehog fans.
