Following the reveal of the seventh Yakuza game, SEGA has released a trailer for western fans of the series reconfirming a 2020 release date and revealing that the western title will simply be Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
SEGA has announced the official name for the new Yakuza game titled “Yakuza 7: Whereabouts of Light and Darkness” during the game’s press conference today in Japan with series creator, Toshihiro Nagoshi taking center stage. Yakuza 7 is said to be aimed to be a “watershed” moment for the Yakuza series.
Yakuza 7 will take place in Yokohama with Ichiban Kasuga as the main protagonist who was sent to jail in 2002. Eighteen years later, waiting for him in Kamurocho is Masumi Arakawa (CB: Kiichi Nakai), who Kasuga owes his life to. He manages to make his way to Yokohama. Saved by Nanba (Ken Yasuda), this story will be the rise of Kasuga. He’s also a fan of Dragon Quest. Sega managed to make a deal with Yuji Horii to mention Dragon Quest in the game.
The gameplay for Yakuza 7 will be vastly different from other Yakuza titles as the game will feature an all-new turn-based action command battle system, which was shown as an April Fools joke. It will include returning elements such as using your environment and objects to fight and incorporates real-time physics. The game will be playable at TGS 2019 from September 12th to September 15th and will officially launch in Japan on January 16th 2020 and in North America and Europe in 2020 for Playstation 4.

On the recent Sakura Wars Imperial Theater Propaganda Department Report stream, SEGA revealed a lot of information regarding the upcoming game. As the stream began, they have demonstrated another look at game play by showcasing two Flower Division members, Hatsuho Shinome and Clarice Snowflake, with their own battle mode features and a tutorial session for beginners who are new to the game. Next, the staff introduced a new package art for the game and merchandise to be sold at Tokyo Game Show 2019. They have also revealed that Shin Sakura Taisen will be receiving a manga adaptation by Koyuri Noguchi and will be serialized at Weekly Young Jump on September 12th.

People have wanted to see more Shenmue footage for a while and we’re treated to a new trailer from Gamescom albeit offcam. In it Ryo wanders through the night market of Bailu before coming across a couple of arcade games that seem to be inspired by classic SEGA arcade titles Drivemobile and Dodgem Crazy. The trailer gives a decent look at a few new NPCs and another look at the battle system with Ryo taking on multiple assilants before finishing off with a bout with a familiar foe from the past. Shenmue 3 is due out on 19th November 2019 for Playstation 4 and PC.
It looks like YS NET is now giving us more information on the Shenmue III Trial Version that they promised when the kickstarter launched (if you backed the project at the tier to try it before release). Lots of fans have been upset that YS NET has been pretty hush on the whole ‘beta’ version of the game, but now YS NET says it will be coming out on the second half of September 2019 via the Epic Game Store. The issue here would be that its only for PC, not PlayStation 4? Seems lame for fans who are only playing on PlayStation 4.
According to the site the Shenmue III Backer Trial Version will have a PDF along with the trial download that will guide you through the demo. You play as Ryo in Bailu. It is also confirmed that Trial saves will not transfer over to the full game. The Trial Version will also have a ‘expiration date’, so if you don’t hop on quickly it might expire. The demo is suppose to have at least an hour of gameplay.
Shenmue III is suppose to come out November 19, 2019 on both PlayStation 4 and PC. You know, after all these years.
You might go bananas once you see the new Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD gameplay trailer. The one-minute trailer shows off some courses and bosses from the original Wii version, in beautiful 1080p and 60 FPS to boot. Since this is a multi-platform release, motion controls have been taken out to give the game a more classic control setup that Monkey Ball is known for. If you pre-order the game, you also get a sticker set of Aiai and his friends. The game is coming out October 29, 2019 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch with a PC Steam release slated for later.
SEGA has finished their recent Sakura Wars Imperial Theater Propaganda Department Report stream by showcasing character theme songs, new characters (Shanghai Kagekidan members, Shaolong and Yui), and a battle system vastly different from the original Sakura Wars games.
While the previous entries used a traditional turn-based battle system, Project Sakura Wars seems to use a different approach with more of a platforming and hack/slash combat style game play. You can check out the game play in action here.
SEGA has also announced that the game will be released in Japan on December 12, 2019 with pre-orders to be available with a special PS4 Theme, and the limited edition will have a soundtrack with over 60 songs from the whole series, and an artbook.
A upcoming fan event will also take place on August 21st for Japanese players to get their first hands on Project Sakura Wars. Check out screenshots of the new characters and battle system right after the break!
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, set for release on October 29 on PS4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One and later on PC, was announced with a launch trailer lacking any gameplay footage. Now, thanks to some overseas pre-order listings, we have a look at the game in action and the monkey’s wearing branded shirts and rolling in branded balls. The clips are brief, but give a good idea of how the game will look compared to the Wii original.
On the topic of the pre-order content, Monkey Ball series is no stranger to product placement. The first game featured Dole stickers on all the in-game bananas.
SEGA has announced that the PC game Two Point Hospital, released August 2018 by Two Point Studios, will be receiving a physical and digital console release later this year! PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch owners can expect all the new features added to the PC version post-launch, as well as expansions including “Bigfoot” and “Pebberley Island”. It’s great to see SEGA PC titles making their way to consoles, and here’s hoping it is a sign of things to come!
After the break, check out the full press release.
SolSeraph is the latest game from developer ACE Team known for their Zeno Clash and Rock of Ages titles. In SolSeraph players take control of Helios, the Knight of Dawn as he fights to protect humanity from the threats of hellish monsters and aid them in the development of their cities. It’s clear to see that the game takes direct inspiration form the 1990 SNES game ActRaiser, but does it live up to Quintet’s classic it’s based on? Read on to find out!

Just two weeks ago, we talked all things Super Monkey Ball and shared our wishes for a new game in the series. Well it looks like our wishes are being granted, as Famitsu has announced a remake of the Wii game Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz titled Tabegoro! Super Monkey Ball. The game, sporting new graphics and potentially gameplay refinements and additions, is due out October 31st in Japan to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, with a PC Steam version also in the works.

We already knew that Phantasy Star Online 2 was getting a brand new anime being titled Episode Oracle that is suppose to cover the Phantasy Star Online 2 in-game story from Episode 1 through 3, plus some original story bits. We now know that the anime will launch this October.
While Phantasy Star Online 2 had a anime that was a 100% original story, this one is more tied to the game which makes me a bit more interested in giving it a try. The series’s first season will run 25 episodes.
As you know we will be getting Phantasy Star Online 2 will finally hit North America for Xbox One and PC in 2020. Are you going to give the anime a chance or wait for the game to come out?
