Pre-order Sonic Colors, get creepy Sonic hat

Gamestop is holding some of that ‘exclusive pre-order’ stuff with Sonic Colors, unlike most of their crappy DLC exclusives; this one is a physical item. A creepy Sonic hat, to wear when you have your furry orgies.

I’m sure deep down inside SEGA knows that 90% of the Sonic fanbase is odd furry people and they will love this. But, I have to admit, its nice seeing a ‘physical’ free object for pre-order. You can pre-order the game on their site and it will ship with the hat.

Sonic Colors to support classic & Gamecube controller

If you go to the Nintendo of America product page in the Wii’s U.S. channel it will reveal that the game will support both classic controller and Gamecube controller, for those of you that hate motion.

This is great, if it turns out to be true. But Nintendo EU’s listing for Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing said it supported the Gamecube controller, which it did not. So who knows.

New Sonic Colors artwork & screens

A new batch of Sonic Colors screens and some artwork have made it to the net, here they are in all their colorful glory. Look at the above scree, it even says enjoy, so don’t whine. Just sit back and enjoy.

I have to admit, the more I see of this game, the more excited I get. I bet there is a million ways this game can fall flat, but so far so good. Hit the jump for more screens.

Sonic Colours Interview with Takashi Iizuka

Our man at E3, Nuckles87 scored a pretty nice interview today with Takashi Iizuka. As we are teamed up with Sonic Stadium for this the SS guys get first dibs on any Sonic related news… Which is fair enough as we’ll be getting all of the other, better Sega news exclusive to bits.

Here is some choice parts of the interview:

SS – Is this game made with just children in mind, or more for a general audience?

Iizuka – Of course, we are putting in kid friendly elements, but it’s not just for kids. The are some challenging elements put in as well.

SS – What is the length of the game, in hours?

Iizuka – The game’s still in development, but in previous Sonic games, there would be act 1 and act 2 of 1 zone. In this case, for each of these worlds there are several stages. Also, once you get more color powers from other worlds, you can go back to older levels and find new paths to access. It also depends on how dedicated you are to finding all the items in the game.

and

SS – Last question, any chance of a new NiGHTS or Burning Rangers game?

Iizuka – (Laughs) We can’t talk about that right now.

Make sure you read the rest of the interview HERE!

Sonic Colors E3 trailer

The trailer is all in CGI, just extended from what we have seen before. The song playing in the trailer is Reach for the Stars featuring Paul Makhlouf from Cash Cash.

The trailer shows Sonic using the blue wisp power and zipping through a level and destroying a bunch of baddies in the end. The game is coming out Holiday 2010 on Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS.

Sonic Colors screens look nice

Here are some Sonic Colors screens, same one as the ones in the Nintendo Power scans, only directly from the game. Obviously I got the screens from CVG, since they put their nice watermark all over the press screens. Thanks.

They also have the first preview for the game right here, if you are interested in that.

Sonic Colours first scans!

And it’s looking pretty damn good… Of course cautious optimism is advised but I can safely say I don’t hate anything about what I’m seeing so far and it actually looks quite good in all departments. What is going on?

As you can see they’re not that well taken and bloody tiny to boot! But you get the picture… A blend of 2D and 3D gameplay, crazy level designs, the sonic unleashed model for the Wii game, DS one looks like Sonic Rush… I think you can even see some of the ‘wisp’ side effects in there.

At no point did Sega suggest they were trying to ‘go back to the roots’. This is a Sonic game of its own, much like the Story Book games and Sonic Rush. So lets not start screaming and shouting because Sonic has green eyes and a boost gage. too be honest I like the Sonic Unleashed Character model AND I like Sonic Rush.

Who is developing Sonic Colors?

So who exactly is making this game? SEGA have now revealed that Sonic Team will be developing the Wii version and DS version will be Sonic Team along side Dimps.

I’m assuming that the team doing the game is the same team that did the Story Book series of games. It would make the most sense.

Sonic Colours announced!

Out of nowhere a new Sonic game appears!

This new Sonic entitled ‘Sonic Colours’ is for the Wii and DS. It looks like it is aimed at a younger audience. Not much for me to say about it yet but Sega’s CGI looks fantastic as usual and the world looks colourful and interesting.
