Hey Kid, You Want to See Some Chemical Plant Zone Gameplay Footage?

You got it! From Gameswelt.de, and uploaded to Youtube by a Sonic fan (I can only assume) comes the first gameplay footage of Chemical Plant Zone, in both classic and modern flavors. Oh yeah, that means Chemical Plant music remix! These are only snippets of the stage acts, so those weary of full act spoilers don’t need to worry too much.

Thanks to forum user ezodagrom for the heads up!

More Chemical Plant Zone Screens Emerge from the Purple Water

Thanks to gaming site andriasang we have some more Chemical Plant zone screens, showing off exciting new portions of both classic and modern acts. The screens show off both classic and modern Sonic running about underwater, modern Sonic grabbing onto a hook and taking a ride through a large water pipe, classic Sonic avoiding the badnik Grabber and riding through the iconic Chemical Plant transport tubes. Looks like the fan-favorite zone will be filled with a number of gimmicks, looks like fun! Check out more screens after the break.

SEGA Reveals Classic Tails, Chemical Plant and Stardust Speedway Screens

No longer are blurry scans the only way to see Sonic Generations Metal Sonic and Chemical Plant zone. SEGA of America has just updated their Flickr account and added a load of screens including new CG renders of Modern and Classic Tails as well as new shots of Chemical Plant and the Metal Sonic race taking place in Stardust Speedway. Oh, and they’ve also added the 3DS package art, though it isn’t very exciting. To see all the images, head on over to SEGA’s Sonic Generations Flickr page.

Binary Domain – Weapons Trailer

Yet another trailer for Binary Domain, the new IP from Toshihiro Nagoshi (of Yakuza fame). This trailer highlights some of the weapons you will be armed with to take down those pesky robots! The trailer doesn’t really show off any unique weapons; indeed, most of them are a shoe-in in pretty much every shooter going. However the way they are used and the enemies they are used on looks far more exciting and really made the trailer quite awesome to behold.

I’m excited about Binary Domain, I think they should make a bigger deal of the ‘trust system’ they have in the game because that’s one of the things that really sets this one apart from the other 3rd person shooters out there!

Famitsu Scans Reveal Chemical Plant and Stardust Speedway for Generations

The recently released issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu spills the beans on two hotly anticipated classic Sonic zones making their return: Sonic 2’s Chemical Plant and Sonic CD’s Stardust Speedway. The first is a full blown classic and modern stage, featuring the iconic yellow and blue paths and copper colored factories of Chemical Plant. Stardust Speedway will be the location for Sonic’s race, and possible battle, with the recently revealed rival Metal Sonic. The magazine also shows what appear to be the 3DS special stages, taken from Sonic Heroes.

After the break, drool over the scans!

Rumor: Rise of Nightmares is “STAMACSTA” in Australia

Rise of Nightmares: It’s a pretty creepy title. It makes sense in the context of the game, the nightmares are rising and it is up to you to keep them down and defeat them.

STAMACSTA: What?!

According to the Australian Classification Board, a game developed by SEGA’s CS3 team containing “strong horror violence, blood and gore” will be released in Australia. This describes Rise of Nightmares to a T, however the title does not match up. In the classification, this game is titled “STAMACSTA”. Either SEGA’s CS3 team are developing two gory games and we have yet to hear of this other one, or much more likely STAMACSTA is Australia’s title for Rise of Nightmares. Fingers crossed that a classification board employee accidentally let his cat walk on the keyboard rather than this being true. It’s quote an awful title. “Stam-acts-ta”?

After the break, check out the classification information.

Famitsu Reveals Sonic Generations City Escape Modern Remix and More Screens

While City Escape has been known of since E3, and there has been a number of preview videos and screens since then, we have yet to hear a clean version of the music for the modern version of the stage. This is the tune that singer Tony Harnell hinted at re-recording long before Sonic Generations was ever announced. Thanks to SEGA of Japan and Famitsu, a new trailer puts the E3 trailer to shame by incorporating the actual stage music. What more, Famitsu shares a few new screens from both modern and classic City Escape including the stage hub.

GameStop Sonic Generations Pre-Order Bonuses Revealed!

So, you say you’re pumped for Sonic Generations, but think it’s too far off for any real reason to place a pre-order this instant? Think again! United States gaming store GameStop is offering digital content for those who pre-order Sonic Generations! You can see what they’re offering for yourself right here. XBOX 360 owners who pre-order will receive a DLC mini-game pinball stage based on Sonic 2’s Casino Night Zone. Think of it as being like Sonic Adventure’s pinball stage. Also included is a Super Sonic avatar costume, basically confirming Super Sonic in Generations, and an exclusive theme for your 360’s menu. PlayStation 3 owners also receive the Casino Night Zone pinball stage and a theme for their PS3 menu.

Still no word on a birthday pack or special packaging, but we’ll keep you posted. In other news, the full stage and boss list as well as a load of other info on the game has leaked due to fans digging through the recently released demo assets. I’ll abstain from mentioning any of the leaked content, as SEGA has yet to officially reveal it, but it’s out there on the Internet.

Creative Assembly’s secret game revealed to be Alien

From announcing political policy to now making announcements for video games, the Coalition Government of the UK has revealed that SEGA’s British based developer, the Creative Assembly, is developing a game based on the Alien franchise by 20th Century Fox. Though a genre is yet to be announced, the above image confirms that it will be a console game and will be developed by a new team from the Creative Assembly. At a press conference held today, the developer revealed that it hopes to bloster its team in Horsham, West Sussex from 160 to 200 within the year. It has also been revealed the Alien title will not be present at this year’s E3 either.

Binary Domain details translated from current Famitsu

As many know, Famitsu recently had a massive 20 page spread of SEGA interviews, news, and information. One highlight was an interview with Toshihiro Nagoshi and some of his comments have been translated from the latest Famitsu issue. Those who listened to the podcast will know how I hoped that there would be several ways to win a battle and it seems Nagoshi is emphasizing that point. Read on to find out some details that have been translated from his interview and please excuse the dodgy translations.

Renegade Ops Teaser Trailer Incoming!

The first video of SEGA and Avalanche’s Renegade Ops arrives by way of a short, but f***ing sweet teaser trailer! What more, IGN answered a few questions about the game:

  • Top down perspective
  • Minimal storyline shown through comic book-esque panels
  • Game is described as a mix between A-Team, GI Joe and Micro Machines
  • It has multiplayer
  • It has a summer release for Xbox Live Arcade, PSN and PC Download

I think it looks awesome. What do you think?

Swedish gaming magazine LEVEL has a preview and interview with Iizuka, and G4TV has an interview with Patrick Riley, SEGA’s director of international productions. Check out the G4TV interview video above and head over to the Sonic Stadium boards for the full translated LEVEL article (four posts down). Thanks to TSS forum user Carbo for translating.

See Modern Sonic’s Green Hill Zone in FULL!

Thanks to a new Takashi Iizuka interview with French gaming website Gameblog.fr, additional gameplay footage of both Modern Sonic and Classic Sonic has been released, playing during and after the interview. While I’ve yet to figure out what Iizuka is saying, it doesn’t sound as though there are any bombs dropped. What is way cool about the video, however, is that we get to see the final portion of Modern Sonic running though Green Hill Zone. I speedily stitched together the available footage to create a full run of the stage. Enjoy!
