Did SEGA just trademark a new Valkyria Chronicles game? If you recall we ran a story on SEGA’s trademark for ‘Valkyria of the Blue Revolution‘, which many have speculated to be SEGA trying to bring back the franchise. SEGA’s SRPG Valkyria Chronicles launched back in 2008 exclusively on the Playstation 3, while it was one of my favorite games of that generation it seemed that most people totally missed it. Last fall SEGA released a port on PC, which went on to sell more than half a million copies. Seems that SEGA of Japan might actually capitalize on that success, seeing as they have trademarked “Aoki Kakumei no Valkyria,” which roughly translates to “Valkyria of the Blue Revolution”.
According to the trademark registry it can be used for console games, amusement park machines (see: slot and pachislot machines) and medal games. What do you guys think, could this be related to Valkyria Chronicles franchise?

Volgarr the Viking is a 16-bit style, tough-as-nails, retro-styled action game published by the crazy people at Adult Swim. The game has made it across multiple platforms including PC, Xbox One, 3DS, Wii U, PS4, and Vita. But what if you wanted to play this game on your Dreamcast?
Now you can, thanks to one of the developers of the orginal game, who did a side project to port the game on SEGA’s white dream machine. Since its Marc Hall’s personal port, this project is ‘unofficial’ and labeled as freeware, but works as you’d expect. The game even supports VGA, if you want a crisper picture.

That’s right, SEGA is making a Halo game. Microsoft closed off their Gamescom briefing today by announcing Halo Wars 2, which is being developed by Creative Assembly in co-operation with 343 Industries. This sequel to the 2009 RTS will be coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 in fall of 2016. There are no other details about the game yet, though MS did release the teaser trailer you see above.
This is the fourth game that Creative Assembly is currently developing, the other games the studio is currently working on are Total War: Warhammer, Total War: Arena and Total War Battles: Kingdom.
SEGA and Game Freak Inc (Pokemon series, Pulseman) partner up once more to bring us a brand new platformer starring Tembo the Badass Elephant. I have been itching to get my hands on this game since SEGA first showed it earlier this year and now that I have beaten it was all my excitement worth it? Is Tembo the Badass Elephant a good enough game to earn the honor of having ‘badass’ in its title?
Turns out that we don’t have to wait long until we can play Tembo the Badass Elephant. The Steam Store page for Game Freak’s new game that just went up shows that the game will be released just two and a half weeks from now on July 21st. The game will launch at $14.99/€12.99, though you can also get it for 10% off by pre-purchasing.
We don’t know the release date of the PS4 and Xbox One versions yet, but it’s probably safe to assume that it’ll be released on the same day on those platforms.
It seems that the trophies for the Playstation 4 version of Tembo the Badass Elephant have been posted online via PSN Profiles website. The trophies will be rather easy to unlock in this title revolving around destroying ‘PHANTOM’ invaders, rescuing civilians and collecting Peanut Butter Jars.
I would assume that the Steam and Xbox One versions will have the same ‘trophies’ but only called achievements. Tembo the Badass Elephant is hitting Playstation 4, PC and Xbox One this fall world wide via digital distribution. Hit the jump to see the trophies.
According to the website Free on Smash, an ‘anonymous poster’ at Operation Sports confirmed that Microsoft would be working with 2K Sports to launch Joe Montana Football 16 this summer exclusively on Windows platforms and Xbox One. It seems that EA’s new license update with the NFL allowed for first party NFL games (Similar deal to how Sony has exclusive MLB games for first party and 2K can make their own MLB games on multiple consoles).
The rumor for the new NFL game started back in October of 2014 when Joe Montana tweeted a short video of him motion capturing a video game and said the following:

If you guys didn’t already know, Joe Montana Football debuted back in 1990 exclusively on the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive and NFL 2K franchise was created as a exclusive franchise for the SEGA Dreamcast back in 1999. Seems like someone over at Microsoft is a big fan of SEGA Sports back in the day. To read the message posted over at Operation Sports (with all the nice tidbits of information), hit the jump.
SEGA are at EGXrezzed this year showing off some of their big 2015 titles. Total War Battles: Kingdoms, Total War Arena and Total War: Attila will all be playable at this event. But that isn’t alll, so will SEGA and Game Freaks first collaboration since 1994, TEMBO THE BADASS ELEPGANT. Check out this short preview of TEMBO from SEGA Central.
If you guys didn’t know, SEGA and GameFreak’s last collaboration was Pulseman on the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive! It is good to see them team up again. I’ve heard whispers that the developer had some semi successful franchise on Nintendo’s handheld systems between SEGA’s Pulseman and now, but the name of the franchise escapes me at the moment. Had something to do with pocket sized monsters?
Want to see more of Tembo the Badass Elephant? Of course you do. IGN have uploaded eight minutes of gameplay, showcasing a city level and a forest level. In this video you can get a better look at Tembos abilities including squirting water, platforming, physics based puzzles, butt-stomping and more.
I love how colourful, vibrate and crisp the visuals are, it’s such a joy to watch in motion. There is a moment in the video at the 4:30 mark where Tembo is running, full speed over green rolling hills reminiscent of the Sonic series and I’m reminded of what made me a Sonic fan all those years ago. Badass indeed!
SEGA just announced that the game by Game Freak they’ll be publishing is Tembo The Badass Elephant, a side scrolling action game with 17 levels in which you play as an elephant who is also a commando who has save Shell City from the evil PHANTOM Army. So really it’s what you could expect from the studio that made Pokémon. It’ll be a single player game, and while there’s no multiplayer there are leaderboards as there’s a lot of stuff you can do to get points in each level. This is the third game to come out of Game Freak doing smaller projects aside from their usual Pokémon games, with the first two being HarmoKnight and Solitiba.
The game is being directed by James Turner, who also directed HarmoKnight for the 3DS. Gamereactor had an interview with him about the game, which can be read here. It’ll be released this summer for Steam, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. As for why it’s not coming to Wii U, it’s because James only put the aforementioned platforms on the mock-up poster for the game and kinda stuck with them through development. Games change during development, even change after media journalists have gotten a good look at the game. Creative Assembly’s Alien: Isolation is no different. The footage above shows what could have been Alien: Isolation before they changed it to first person prospective.
Personally think they did the right move making it first person due to the nature of using melee combat and I hate using melee combat in 3rd person shooters (see: Gears of War, Binary Domain and Uncharted series).

The latest DLC for Alien: Isolation‘s Survivor Mode is now available for you to download. This DLC is dubbed “Trauma” as it introduces Sevastopol’s medical officer, Dr. Lingard, as a playable character. You will control Dr. Lingard as you explore three new maps as she seeks to destroy her research on the Alien creature. The DLC has launched on PC, Xbox One and of course Xbox 360. Sadly Sony gamers will have to wait for the store to update Thursday to get it on Playstation 3 and Playstation 4.
Trauma is the second DLC pack of five that SEGA is set to release and will join the first DLC titled ‘Corporate Lockdown’, that launched in October. The next pieces of DLC are set to be titled ‘Safe Haven’, ‘Lost Contact’ and ‘The Trigger’. You can get all the DLC for $30 in the game’s season pass, which is half off right now on Steam. Each DLC is priced at $8 individuality or you can just wait for the Game of the Year edition later next year, but that’s none of my business.
Pier Solar and the Great Architects HD comes out on the Wii U today, so if your reading this go on the e-shop and grab yourself a copy.
As for Xbox One owners, you guys can now expect to play the game on November 21st, which has been approved by the boys over at Watermelon Games. That would mean that the only versions we are waiting on are the Dreamcast and Playstation Vita (unless I missed a platform?).
The game is already out on Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Steam, Ouya and (as of today) Wii U. What console are you planning to pick this up on?
