Arc System Works hints at future Persona Arena Fighting Games

Arc System Works seems to be more popular as time goes on, now known to millions of new fighting game fans due to their work on the ultra popular Dragon Ball FigtherZ. But back in 2012, Arc System Works and Atlus teamed up to do Persona 4 Arena and later in 2013 (arcade) they released the direct sequel Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Since then Arc System Works has been mostly busy releasing updated versions of their in-house IPs like BlazBlue and Guilty Gear.

Now Arc System Works is advertising their latest fighting game BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle which features cross over characters from Persona, BlazBlue (duh), RWBY and Under Night in-Birth. Kotaku recently got a interview/opinion piece with the director of that game, Toshimichi Mori on the thought process of designing that game, but at the same time he teased the future of Persona Arena Fighting games.

Shining Resonance Refrain demo hits PS4, Xbox One & Nintendo Switch today

If you have any of the three modern consoles you will be able to play SEGA’s upcoming Shining Resonance Refrain for free! This will let you see if the game is for you, giving you hands-on time early. How early? A month early considering that the full game hits America and Europeans on July 10, 2018!

Sadly there is no demo announced for the Steam or PC version of the game, which sucks if you are a PC gamer only. But three out of four platforms isn’t too shabby by SEGA. Are you going to be giving Shining Resonance Refrain a chance?

Team Sonic Racing gets E3 Trailer featuring new theme by Crush 40

“Driiiiive through foreeeeeeeever!”

The Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube account has uploaded the brand new Team Sonic Racing E3 trailer which mixes CGI and in-game graphics. The trailer focuses on the rivalry between Team Sonic and Team Dark! The trailer also features the racing course Wisps Circuit because you know Sonic fans love Wisps!

One of my negative comments on the recently revealed Team Sonic Racing gameplay was that it looked a bit too slow for my liking, this new trailer’s gameplay seems to be a bit faster. I hope (and I’m sure there are) faster modes of play within the game. Obviously this isn’t taking into account my real big complaint, that its all Sonic and doesn’t include prior SEGA IPs like the All-Stars series, but it seems Sonic fans are happy at the very least.

Team Sonic Racing available to pre-order, releases this winter – check out the reveal trailer!

SEGA has officially unveiled the latest racer from Sumo Digital and SEGA: Team Sonic Racing! We were spoiled early this morning from a Wal-Mart leak, and now SEGA has officially revealed the game with a short but sweet teaser as well as pre-order links. The game is set to release this winter to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam and will retail for $39.99. No word on launch editions, but knowing SEGA it is likely. The official website is not live as of this posting, but it can be found at TeamSonicRacing.com.

SEGA Genesis Classics releases today for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One – Check out the crazy launch trailer

SEGA Genesis ClassicsSEGA Mega Drive Classics for those in Europe – releases today for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. To celebrate the launch, SEGA has released a bizarre video from Eclectic Method which mashes up various assets from the 50+ games included in the collection. The collection itself is a console port of the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive Classics Hub which released to Steam back in 2016.

We reviewed the Steam release back when it launched, which you can read here, and plan to review the newly released SEGA Genesis Classics once we get a copy in our hands. Unfortunately SEGA hasn’t sent us an advance copy to preview and review (though they oddly sent a ton out to several low to mid-tier YouTubers). If SEGA is reading this, we have a YouTube show going on a channel that is doing pretty well for itself. So, you know, don’t forget about us next time please.

If you want to pick up a copy for yourself, and support SEGAbits, you can order the PlayStation 4 version here and the Xbox One version here.

Should SEGA stop making console exclusives?

It does seem that part of SEGA is going more multi-console friendly approach, with games like Shinining Resonance Refrain and Valkyria Chronicles 4 getting ports for Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. But it seems some franchise are continuing to stick with one console, most blatantly Yakuza and Persona series. There are quite a bit more, but these seem to be the ones that have been growing in popularity for SEGA. The biggest insult? The lack of PC announcements for titles like these, considering that PC seems to be a ‘non competing platform’ for most console manufactures. For example, Sony funded Street Fighter V to be exclusive, but it still got a PC release. I think having PC ports is very important for SEGA, considering the success of stuff like Bayonetta and Valkyria Chronicles.

Do you think its worth it for SEGA to make console exclusive games anymore?

It seems that something is going on behind the scenes with some franchises, especially Sony exclusives. But as fans, would you rather see these titles hit all platforms or do you like the fact that SEGA has console exclusive games? Sound off in the comments below.

What Shining Resonance Refrain looks like on Nintendo Switch

SEGA Japan have released new screenshots for Shining Resonance Refrain on the Nintendo Switch. The upcoming Nintendo Switch port, which was previously a PlayStation 3 game, looks basically the same in screenshots (seems to have more bloom in the Nintendo Switch version, or am I crazy?).

As far as how the game will run when you purchase it, we do know that the game will run at a full 1080p when docked, I assume it will drop to 720p in handheld mode. The game hits English speaking countries on July 10 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC! Hit the jump for the screens:

Editorial: Why you should buy Panzer Dragoon Orta for your Xbox One

The Xbox One is in an interesting place in the current games generation. Lacking the exceptional first party support and third party exclusives of the PlayStation 4, the Nintendo Switch, or even the long-passed Wii U, the Xbox One carves its niche out as a competent home media center and place to play your workhorse multi-platform games. Many players have noted however, that this is not a niche that needs filling. The PlayStation 4 provides your home media wants as strongly as the One, with attractive exclusive features and games besides, as well as a generous “get free games when you subscribe to our online multiplayer” scheme, something the One mirrors with its Games with Gold feature. But there is a niche the One fills that its contemporaries skip out entirely on: backwards compatibility. Today we talk about that, an amazing hidden gem from the original Xbox, and how awesome that game is.
