SEGA announces Dark Souls inspired game Soul Reverse for Arcades

SEGA has announced the next upcoming SEGA-AM2 arcade game Soul Reverse, which is looking quite a bit like a Dark Souls type of game. While people will fight and point out that SEGA-AM2 already dabbled into dark fantasy with their arcade game The Quest of D, you’re right. I’m wrong. But it seems this title is trying to cash in on the ‘Souls‘ name with a title like Soul Reverse. It is also true that SEGA previously announced Soul Reverse as a mobile phone title, that should already be out on iOS and Android, but the arcade version is its own build that is 70% complete as of today.

SEGA has revealed one of the characters in the game, Luce, who will be voiced by Japanese actress Nanami Yamashita (you can see her in the screens). You can view the trailer for Soul Reverse above and see screenshots after the jump.

Screenshot_63

Do you need a handy, cheap Black Friday game gift, or perhaps want to finally jump into some classics for a paltry amount? Then SEGA has the deal for you. Until November 28th, every title under the “Dreamcast Collection” bundle, which includes Crazy Taxi, NiGHTS Into Dreams…, Jet Set Radio, SEGA Bass Fishing, Space Channel 5: Part 2, and Sonic Adventure DX are all available for a staggering $1.99 USD each. All of these games are priced at $7.99 normally, and normally buying them all together would be at least thirty dollars. That’s about an eighteen dollar difference for all of them.

Please note that the bundle itself is not discounted, and that Sonic Adventure 2, another Dreamcast classic released alongside NiGHTS and JSR, is not included in this sale. You will have to buy each game individually to make use of the discounts. So get on it, already!

Latest Yakuza 0 trailer shows off all the fun you can have in 1980s Japan

The Yakuza series handles some pretty heavy themes, and Yakuza 0 will be no different. But that doesn’t mean that the series is all dark and gritty! As evidenced by SEGA’s latest Yakuza 0 trailer, the game will feature many off-the-wall mini-games to distract you. Players will be able to do everything from date, call up girls on the phone, dance, sing, play classic SEGA arcade games like Space Harrier, OutRun and Hang-On, and even bet money on catfights.

If you like the wacky side of SEGA, check this trailer out and don’t forget to pre-order Yakuza 0 for Playstation 4 – the game releases physically and digitally in the Americas and Europe beginning Jan. 24, 2017.

Valkyria: Azure Revolution box art revealed, introduction trailer released

The latest game in the Valkyria, Valkyria: Azure Revolution, has it’s box art revealed, along with an accompanying introduction trailer. The box art for the PS4 and PSVita versions share the same artwork, with a noticeably more depressing color scheme that mixes grey and blue colors and features the character Amleth, a departure from the more vivid colors from past games. Both box art covers can be seen here and here.

Meanwhile the new trailer acts as a prologue to the events that take place in Valkyria: Azure Revolution, about how the titular Azure Revolution helped expand the Rus Empire into conquering the majority of Europe, and Jutland being the only kingdom left that can stop it.

Valkyria: Azure Revolution will release on January 19th, 2017 in Japan. No release outside of Japan has been announced.

Persona 5 delayed to April 4th 2017, giving duel audio as free DLC

persona-5-cover-def

Persona 5 has been announced in a recent stream by Atlus to be delayed to April 4th, 2017 in both Europe and America. However, on a brighter note, the game will include duel audio that contains the original Japanese and dubbed English, and will be available as free DLC at launch. Supposedly it was included as a request by people since the reveal of Persona 5, and was made possible through a “herculean effort from just about every division of Atlus”.

In addition, a playable demo for Persona 5 will be at the PlayStation Experience in Anaheim, with attendees receiving a collector’s card. They also state that a PS4 theme of Ryuji Sakamoto will be available on the Playstation Network for free for 24 hours (with a tongue-in-cheek claim that Atlus was breached), and they updated the “premium edition” with the final image, which can be viewed here.

So while Persona 5 being delayed (again) sucks, at least there’s a few things to keep you interested while you wait.

Atlus USA/Deep Silver releases Persona 5 “Game Mechanics Daily Life” trailer

Persona 5 is still slated for a western release (By Atlus USA in America and Deep Silver in European countries) Feburary 2017, while Japan had the game since September. However, the official Youtube channels for Atlus USA and Deep Silver have released a new trailer to help tide over the wait. The trailer is a quick game mechanics overview of the recurring Social Link feature in the Persona series, where the player is tasked with having a normal life on their spare time while interacting with others. As the player bonds with friends and allies, the ranking between them will increase, which will provide the player with bonuses that can aid with combat or get new items. It may also lead to possible romance depending on your actions.

In addition Persona 5 shows off a few minigames, such as a pitching machine game and a fishing game. The pitching machine game involves you hitting a ball into a target to get the best score, and the fishing game trying to reel up the biggest catch.

Data Discs releasing Gunstar Heroes soundtrack on vinyl

Gunstar_Heroes_Art_01While not much information has been revealed, Data Discs posted this morning on their social media channels that their next release was going to be the Gunstar Heroes soundtrack. If you didn’t know we are huge fans of the Gunstar Heroes soundtrack (game too) and will be the perfect addition to Data Discs’ outstanding collection of SEGA records.

The Gunstar Heroes soundtrack isn’t the only one being planned. If you go on their site it has two ‘coming soon’ windows for two new releases. That second release could be the Panzer Dragoon soundtrack that was talked about by Data Discs all the way back in April of this year. The weird part is they said it was going to be part of their 2016 line-up, but now they are teasing Gunstar Heroes. No idea what went on there. Data Discs said that you can expect more information very soon, but if its like their other releases I assume it will come in three variant colors; with one being limited edition. That was a given.

What do you think about the Gunstar Heroes soundtrack? Do you think its about time it got a re-release on vinyl? Let us know in the comments below.

SEGA has announced that the Yakuza 6 demo will hit Japanese PSN on November 29th! Yeah, it does seem that the free public demo is hitting a bit close to the release date, but this might be normal for the series. We did a post about what content will make it to the Yakuza 6 demo.. The demo will basically allow you to play the first chapter and even carry over your save data to the full game. Play spots are available during the demo, but are you are limited to the ones placed in the first chapter’s area. If you are live outside of Japan and want to try the Yakuza 6 demo, you can always make a Japanese PSN account for free.
