FILA and Paramount Pictures release Ray Tracer Evo x Sonic 2 sneakers

There has been many Sonic the Hedgehog clothing collaborations over the past few years, but any time shoes are involved there is always that hope that the collaboration will result in Sonic’s shoes. More often than not, it does not. On top of that, sneaker collaborations are usually region locked and very expensive. HAVING SAID ALL THAT, we finally have a Sonic sneaker collaboration that is (1) emulating Sonic’s shoe design and (2) is AFFORDABLE. Thanks to FILA and Paramount Pictures, the Sonic movie sequel will see a unisex slip on sneaker in the Ray Tracer Evo style that evokes the shoe Sonic wears in the films. While Sonic is not really wearing these in the movie, they are very close and as mentioned AFFORDABLE. Priced at $110, you can knock off an additional 25% for a total of $82.50. That’s cheaper than most everyday sneakers!

So turn on that Honey app and check out how much you can knock off the price. At the moment there are America only (I know, I blasted region specific before) but hey, if you are abroad and have an American friend hit them up.

Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness is no longer in development

SEGA along with Vespa announced it was working on Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness, based on the classic Shining Force franchise, way back in August 2021. Since the announcement, they’ve announced that it was suppose to get a full launch the first half of this year, as well as a beta before this period that never happen!

Its said that the reason that Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness has suspended development is because the lack of funds and how long the negotiations for the Shining Force IP have taken with SEGA. According to Game Braves, SEGA never finalized the use of the Shining Force IP or at least full use of the IP. We know many classic characters were making their return in this game but the company also wanted to make original characters. No idea where the disagreement came since we’ve seen smaller companies license IPs such as Alex Kidd, Wonderboy, Panzer Dragoon and more.

Vespa is turning its attention and development to King’s Raid 2, a popular in-house IP already developed and owned by the company. Personally I want the return of classic Shining Force SRPG goodness, but not in a mobile game. Considering Camelot Software want to make a Shining Force IV, why not go for a real follow-up with the original team?

SEGA showcases nine arcade games for Amusement Expo

SEGA Amusements has put together a short video showcasing what arcade games the company has for 2022. Some of the games we’ve seen talked about before like Mission Impossible Arcade DLX, but the video also showcases smaller titles like Capto Crane and Polar Slide.

The video features:

  • VR Agent
  • Mission Impossible Arcade DLX
  • Jet Blaster
  • Men in Black
  • Jumanji
  • Polar Slide
  • Power Roll
  • Capto Crane
  • Pushing Points

I know that lately people have assumed SEGA has pulled out of the arcade markets because they sold their arcade management business, but that isn’t true. SEGA is, as of right now, still creating arcade games but just doesn’t own most of its Japanese venues anymore.

The House of the Dead: Remake confirms ‘gyroscopic functionalities’ for controls, doesn’t rule out a future VR port

The House of the Dead: Remake is coming out April 7, 2022. When the game was first announced, one of the missing details in the press release was if The House of the Dead: Remake would support gyro motion controls and now thanks to a interview by Way Too Many Games with producer and co-producers Artur Grzegorczyn and Benjamin Anseaume have confirmed that you will have the option to use ‘gyroscopic functionalities’:

Japanese Man Arrested for Allegedly Sending SEGA Death Threats Over Losing In Online Games

Today’s lesson we learn is that some people play games to relax, while other people play to blow off steam. On the other hand, 54-year-old Toyokawa, Japan resident got so heated, he decided to go and e-mail SEGA death threats. The man was arrested on March 16th.

It seems that the man sent SEGA over 12 threatening emails that ranged from setting “the company on fire”, “kill employees” and even as far as “kill the family and children of employees.” Big yikes. According to Watanabe himself, he was upset because he had “lost in an online game and was frustrated”.

What game was he playing? Who knows, as its not detailed but considering he sent the emails from his mobile phone I would assume an online mobile game published by SEGA.

SEGA Genesis Sonic Spinball, Treasure Tails and unknown lightgun game art uncovered

If you saw our Knuckles news, we’ve got more! In sharing the Knuckles document, a discussion within a private Facebook group led to a mention of an eBay seller in possession of SEGA Technical Institute documents. The documents are being sold for (in my opinion) obscene amounts and it just goes to show the difference between an archivist and a collector. Some real cool stuff is being revealed that has been literally sitting on people’s shelves for years! Basically, I’m asking for a “thank you, Barry” and PLEASE if you collect this sort of stuff SHARE IT. There is a dude sitting on a Sonic movie draft from the early 90s who still refuses to even share scans because, I guess, they are waiting for a payday. Ugh.

First up is a cool piece of art for Robotnik’s Pinball Fortress from Sonic Spinball. As noted by a Twitter user, this same art is seen in a grainy pitch video but is compressed and squished. Nice to finally see a clean look at it. Next up…
