SEGA’s girly golf game for Vita gets leaked early

SEGA is apparently working on a girly golf game for Vita called “@Field”. The game was leaked by Amazon.co.jp.

The game isn’t all about mini golfing, it will also combine pinball elements into the game. The girls in the games aren’t really girls, they are called dolls. You will be able to customize them, to dress them the way you want.

There will be a mission mode that promises over 100 missions. Rewards for clearing missions include costumes and new fields to play with. There is an edit mode where you can make your own fields and share them with friends via ad-hoc mode or wifi. Sadly is unclear right now if there is online play, we will probably get this info when the game is formally announced.

@Field is coming out this Winter in Japan, priced at ¥3,990. No Western announcements has been made (duh), it doesn’t seem like a title that would be brought over though.

Warning: Maintenance this Weekend

Update: Maintenance is over!

I will be doing maintenance on SEGAbits sometime this weekend. I’ll be honest, I don’t know exactly when, just whenever I feel in the mood to do it.

Just some back end changes as we get ready for the future, nothing that is going to change the site very much at the moment. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up because with the changes that are being made I’m not sure I’ll be able to put up a maintenance message. So yeah..

I also had some fun in photoshop making the image for this post, if you didn’t notice! Blood will be shed because of this maintenance! =P

Binary Domain Consequence Trailer is over 4 minutes long

Check out the latest trailer for SEGA’s third person squad based shooter Binary Domain. Toshihiro Nagoshi and Team Yakuza have been working hard on their consequence system that reacts and evaluates your battle performance and strategy, the more effective fighter you are, the more likely your squad mates will listen to you in regards to advice and planning out how to take large groups of machine downs.

The trailer also features the voice acting for the newest character, Cain, a French military robot and showcases a new level that was only seen prior in screenshots as well as how the consequence system may alter the storyline slightly.

Sonic Generations Modern Era Trailer

Following on from their recent trailer for the Dreamcast era, SEGA has released the trailer for the modern era, three of the most recent console titles in the series. Featured in the trailer are stages Crisis City, Rooftop Run and Planet Wisp and showcasing both modern and classic Sonic as the blast through the various stages at high speed and platforming.

With Sonic Generations less than a month away, this could be one of the final trailers, if not the final trailer, SEGA releases to promote the game. Sonic Generation is set to release 1st November in North America and 4th November in Europe.

SEGA-Sammy changes half-year forecast due to poor game sales

SEGA-Sammy has changed their financial forecast, stating that they will make less revenue, yet make more profits.

SEGA-Sammy has changed their forecast  due to recent software titles not selling as well as expected. But they reduced the cost of operation from their pachinko machine business, thus they will return profit instead of losses.

SEGA-Sammy orginally posted that they expected to make $2.15 billion in revenue, now they changed it to $1.96 billion. Revenue isn’t Profit. SEGA orginally forecasted that they will lose $39.11 million, now changed it to a profit of $26.08 million.

Yakuza: Dead Souls announced for March 2012

SEGA have finally announced Yakuza spinoff, Ryu Ga Gotoku: Of the End, for America and Europe today. The game is dated for March 2012, following the same trend that the prior two Yakuza games set. There has been no words if SEGA will change the controls as one of their directors said prior to the announcement of this game.

The game is set to bring back primary hero Kazuma Kiryu and Shun Akiyama and fans of the series can enjoy controlling Goro Majima and Ryuji Goda for the first time as zombies and mutants invade Tokyo and involves focus on guns for the first time in the series. Check after the break for the press release and for the boxart for Yakuza: Dead Souls.

Sonic Generations: Sonic Team building on lessons learnt

Sonic Generation is looking to celebrate the 20th anniversary of SEGA’s blue mascot in style. The game is set to feature a number of throwbacks, references, past levels and a complete mishmash of the history of the entire series as publisher SEGA looks to restore the quality that was once synopsis with the series. I spent an extensive time playing the levels available for the Sonic Generations demo and got to play as both classic and modern Sonic, click after the break to find out how the title fared!

Review: Thor: God of Thunder (3DS)

SEGA’s Marvel games line up is one big missed opportunity. When I first heard that SEGA had managed to get the game licenses for all of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, I could only imagine great things. After all, Activision had managed to turn its Spider-man license into a quality, long running, successful franchise. Surely SEGA could do the same! As we all know by now, this turned out not to be the case. However, in a sea of trashy movie games there have been a few bright spots. A few of the games have managed to be pretty decent. Thor 3DS is one of them.

Sonic Generations – Six Screens from Speedy Highway!

Take a gander at these high-speed Sonic Generations screenshots featuring ‘Speedy Highway’ (first seen in Sonic Adventure) now in glorious HD!

I remember playing Sonic Adventure when it first released on Dreamcast and that one particular set piece in Seedy Highway where Sonic Runs down the side of a sky scraper blew my mind. I’d never seen anything so mind bending, graphically stunning (for its time) and fast in a videogame before. It will stay with me for ever; I hope Sonic Generations can recapture the magic of Speedy Highway!

SEGA having fall press event, teasing unannounced title

SEGA is going to hold a fall press event to show off some of its titles, one game at the event will be announced. Obviously we already know the title being shown at the event, Yakuza: Dead Souls.

The best part? SEGA didn’t invite us, which is a bit lame since we have been posting and supporting titles like Yakuza series coming over from Japan. But hey, thanks for inviting Go Nintendo, seeing as how well they cover Yakuza title news. Now we will sit in the corner of the party drinking our wine coolers and not bothering the other guests.

Dualshockers post an open letter to SEGA: “If You can’t publish It, license it.”

If you have heard our podcasts before, I have complained that SEGA has left some gems over in Japan, sometimes we understand there isn’t a market to meet their expectations.  But why should we, the fans miss out when they can license the IP to a smaller publisher like Atlus or NIS America?

Not only do these smaller publishers know how to push titles to the fans, they also release some nice special edition that gets us all hot and heavy. Remember the  Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love special edition on PS2? Not only that, NIS America ported it to Wii for America.

You can read their open letter over at Dualshockers.
