Japanese Sonic Free Rider promo features excited actors

“COOOOOL!!”

Here is a new promo video for Sonic Free Riders in Japan. It is quite an odd piece of promotional footage for a few reasons, I have never seen a Japanese person smile so much, almost seems like its a Microsoft Kinect advertisement policy or something. You know, since all the US adverts have the same thing. Also who has a room that white or that large in Japan?

“Awesome!!!”

The last thing that will lead to people doing creepy shit, is the feature that lets two players join hands and do tricks on screen with two of the in-game characters. Lets be honest, Sonic fanbase is disgusting and a ton of horrible fan fiction is bound to happen.

Football Manager 2011 demo out now for Mac & PC

“Did you see that ludicrous display last night?”

SEGA and Sports Interactive have released the demo for Football Manager 2011. You will be able to get it in two flavors, Vanilla and Strawberry.

Vanilla is a smaller download (300 mb) that comes in only English language and has quickstart with only 2 leagues (English & Scotland).

While Strawberry (download size 1gb) has 11 in-game languages (English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Danish, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Czech, Polish) and 12 in-game leagues ( England, Scotland, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Brazil, Argentina, Chile).

Sonic Colours Trailer 3 Reveals New Wisps!

The third trailer for Sonic Colours is here! This time showing off a brand new level set in an outer-space level.

The trailer also shows three wisps in action including the brand new Purple Frenzy wisp, Blue Cube wisp and the already announced Green Hover wisp and Pink Spikes wisp.

I’m not sure what to make of the purple one yet. Looks like the least interesting of the lot so far. The blue on the other hand seems to work like a Mario Power (P) item changing blocks into blue rings you can collect. I see a lot of potential for platforming and puzzles in the blue wisp.

Also worth noting is the pink wisps ability to Spin Dash, pretty cool but something Sonic should have by default in my opinion.

Yuji Naka’s HD console game not published by SEGA

[First scan/concept art of the upcoming game]

Yuji Naka’s upcoming game has been teased in Famitsu and it won’t be published by SEGA. The game will be published by Kadokawa Games. Never heard of them? I don’t blame you, all they have done was a port of RPG Maker for DS and some other girl anime game. But it seems the company wants to become bigger, first step is with the Yuji Naka HD game (along with a game by Grasshopper).

“The game itself is an action title that takes place in the sky. The action gameplay is what I’m focusing on the most with this project — interactivity is the most important attraction with any sort of game, and if that doesn’t evolve, then games won’t be everything they can be. Sonic was all about completely taking over the land, and Nights brought that same concept into the skies. I had always thought that action games that take place in the sky are too hard for players to cope with, but then I thought up a new method for dealing with it. That’s how this project got started. If I had stuck around at Sega, then I might have used this concept to make a sequel to Nights!”  – Yuji Naka (Prope)

It is most likely that SEGA passed on publishing Yuji Naka’s title. Most likely due to how poor a bigger known IP like NiGHTS did on Wii and how he compares the concept to that or it could be due to how poor Let’s Tap did. We will never know. We wish Naka luck with his new title and if its good, of course we will all be playing it, regardless of publisher.

Space Michael to appear in Space Channel 5 Part 2 XBLA/PSN

Users have been asking if Space Michael would be in the final game, even though we already had this confirmed last time, I think a ton of users skipped over that yes, Space Micheal will be in the final port from SEGA. He is in the newly released screenshots.

There were some questions regarding if SEGA would use Michael Jackson’s likeness in the game, mostly because the pop artist recently passed away and because SEGA has not been afraid to cut out content in their re-releases (See Crazy Taxi’s music and adverts). Sonic hired to hold Playstation Move posters

You got to feel bad for Sonic, SEGA just relies on the blue blur to make so much money for the company and with the way the economy is, even he has to take jobs like this. Seriously, Sonic isn’t even needed to hold the sign, it has its own leg thing. Come on!

Apprently this was taken by a UK:R reader at a Lewisham located Gamestation.

Shogun 2: Total War screens would make Feudal Japan proud

This game puts you in the shoes of Daimyo, a clan leader that is trying to re-unite Japan. This game also features ship battles and of course land battles (depicted in the screens).

Shogun 2: Total War  is looking really nice, just makes me cringe knowing that I will probably have to upgrade my graphics card for this game. Game will be coming out next year, so maybe I do have plenty of time to upgrade.

New Free Riders trailer has a hint of Metal

With the release of Sonic Free Riders only a few weeks away, it’s about time that SEGA showed off a bit more of the game. The latest trailer, seen above, features some new tracks, voice acting and best of all a certain metallic hedgehog.

Next XBLA/PSN Dreamcast ports revealed!

by Gagaman(n) of The Dreamcast Junkyard

They are Sega Bass Fishing and Space Channel 5 Part 2. JeuxVideo24 have screenshots of how they will look on the new consoles in 720p and widescreen.

Space Channel 5 Part 2 is an interesting choice. before you ask where part 1 is, I believe they’ve picked this one simply because it’s easier to port. Part 1 one used pre-rendered video backgrounds (as opposed to in-game graphics like in Part 2) so not only would they need to re-render those videos in HD, they would either have to stretch them or force the game to be 4:3 (like the Sonic Adventure port was). Maybe this is why they have skipped to Part 2. To be fair though Part 2 is a much rarer game, especially on Dreamcast on which it would cost you a small fortune, especially if you went after the special edition box set.

The demo will be coming, but only the Japanese version. Luckily I pretend to know Japanese so everything will play out just fine. The demo being released for the game will continue the story of the TGS demo, which we never played. The demo will include two missions, one has you retake a mountain base. Those that are getting the Japanese version will unlock special bonuses from playing the demo.

Date for the demo has not been given.Valkyria Chronicles 3 will be hitting PSP spring of next year. Now where is that western release date?

Vanquish – Launch Trailer

“Out this Friday 22nd in Europe, Shinji Mikami’s latest offering from the Platinum Games studio. Without provocation the Earth plunges into a new and ferocious war. A war that will only be won by those with the technological edge – an edge like the A.R.S battlesuit.

Fight, survive and claim vengence for the lost.
War has accelerated. This is VANQUISH.

-SEGA

This trailer looks awesome, the game looks awesome.
Go now… Buy Vanquish.

I’ll finish this post with a quote from the Euro gamer review;

“Vanquish is a trailblazer. It is a game of astounding creativity and polish, exhilarating on the ground in the moment-to-moment thrills of high-speed-to-slow-motion combat, as well as in its wider, twisting trajectory. Doubtless the best third-person shooter ever to come out of Japan, Vanquish builds on Western developers’ triumphs to push the genre in new, interesting directions, shifting the balance of power, and cementing Shinji Mikami’s position as one of the best directors working in videogames today.
