New Sonic Colors info from Nintendo Power

[Pic not related, but colorful]

Nintendo Power previewed two zones, Sweet Mountain Zone and Tropical Reservoir Zone. They said Sweet Mountain was made up of mountains of pastries. Seems a bit childish, but moving on. Developers are focusing on level design, trying to satisfy old school Sonic fans (we have heard this before). 3-D levels have you running from point to point and compared to Sonic Unleashed’s daytime levels. DS version was compared to ‘Sonic Rush 3’, don’t know if this is a good thing.

2-D areas also featured more ‘platforming’. Tails is involved in the story, but not a playable character. Also Knuckles and Shadow may appear in the game, but not in playable form. Let’s be honest, don’t be shocked if they are in the game. The story will be ‘simple’.

New Vanquish Scans

More scans for the up coming Sega/Platinum 3rd person shooter Vanquish. Naoya Tsurumi recently spoke openly about Vanquish saying that Sega will be giving it a big push this year. This already suggests great faith in a quality game.

Scans and Summery below.

IGN Mystery Teaser Trailer, Shogun 2?

Could this mystery teaser trailer from IGN be for the long awaited Shogun 2 Total War? It seems to point in that direction.

Currently we have no translation for what is being said or typed but I’ll update you when I find out more.

Naoya Tsurumi talks SEGA’s failures and future

He had a lot to say, so I will recap it in small points for easy digestion.

  • He is disapointed with sales of Mario & Sonic at the Vacouver Winter Games. It shipped 6.53 million units world wide, they expected to sell 7 million. North American sales are to blame.
  • Says bigger budget games are expanding in the West. “We won’t be focusing just on this market, but we are developing this type of title,” said Tsurumi. “Vanquish, being developed with Shinji Mikami, is a title that targets the North American and European market trend.”

Japanese Virtual On Force commercial

Microsoft has a new series of commercials rolling out in Japan. They are all based around this X character which has an Xbox symbol for his head… Yeah I don’t get it either but there you go.

It seems there is already one for Virtual-On Force. You gotta admit Temjin looks pretty cool in CGI!

Translation:
Co-Worker1: This thing sure got delivered beautifully!
Co-Worker2: Is this shoe Italian?

Co-Worker1: Hey you! I told you not to use oil on it!
Xboxman: X! (subtitled: I am sorry)

Co-Worker1: How about you big-project-fella?
Co-Worker1: No answer huh? haha!

Narrator: Virtual On is in its way for Xbox.
Co-Worker2: That thing is great!

Sony asking if you want a Yakuza HD collection

So you bought a PS3 and never got to play the amazing Yakuza original and the sequel. Sony is now asking if you would purchase a HD collection with both the originals for the Playstation 3. This screen above was caught in a recent Sony survey.

God of War Collection, which Sony released recently, had HD picture (720p), anti-aliased graphics, two sets of trophies (one for each game), and was locked at 60fps. If SEGA can do both of this for the collection, plus cut down on the loading in the first game to match the second, that would be awesome.

Alpha Protocol developer not proud of final product

Alpha Protocol has been getting mixed reviews due to its bugs and other issues. Some loved it, guys at Joystiq did not. One of the developers commented on the review, saying SEGA should have canceled Alpha Protocol instead of Aliens RPG. Regardless of drama, I will be bringing you a review in the upcoming days.

Yakuza 3 sneaks onto Playstation Home

If you want to be like a dragon, look tough on Sony’s Home, be sure to get the free Yakuza 3 t-shirt that has recently appeared on Playstation Home. Go to the mall section of Home.

“Show your support for the Dragon of Dojima with these official Yakuza 3 tees.”

Damn right I will support Kazuma and at the low, low price of free, how can I refuse? Now Sony should let us beat up people at Home and force them to apologize and give us money. That is how life works on the  streets.

Sonic Colors coming out September 24th?

That is what Amazon UK is saying. They are listing both the Wii and DS titles as coming out September 24th, way before the previously announced Sonic 4.

I’m not at all surprised that the title is being released so soon, SEGA always seems to disclose lots of Sonic information till the last minute. No idea way.

SEGA 16-bit console war dog tags

SEGA used “Pirate TV” as a advertising campaign for the SEGA Mega Drive (US: Genesis) in Britain. The dog tag above was given to a UKR reader by SEGA during a event to try out the Mega CD  and Sonic 2.

This is where I talk about how in my day, console wars where fought on the playground, not behind a computers.  You get the idea.

Shogun 2 Total War for E3?

Sega and the Creative Assembly have been hinting at a new Total War game with a teaser count down on their home page HERE.  However this is no ordinary count down! In true Total War style instead of counting down in mere days to announcement it is counting down in historically important dates.  The date is currently at 1751 but is almost certain to drop further considering the latest news we have heard.

Creative Assembly first hinted to IGN that the next game would be ‘back to basics’ this made it quite apparent that we would be dealing with a sequel. Having had a sequel to Medieval 2 only recently, this leaves Rome: Total War and Shogun: Total War.

And if Turkish site ‘Oyungezer‘ is to believed it will be Shogun Total War we see at E3 2010. The site claims to have been penciled in by Sega Europe for a 2:30pm appointment to talk about Shogun 2: Total War.

While I would take this as a rumour for now, it was either this or the other and now the scales seem to point to this!

Alpha Protocol: PC vs. 360 vs. PS3 comparison

Alpha Protocol is coming out on 3 platforms, but which platform looks the best? I got to say, all three look the same to me. Sure the PC version is a bit sharper. But not by much.

Obviously the site is not running the PC version to its full potential, but since this is the only comparison out so far, it is safe to assume each platform is a safe buy. The game is out today in Europe, out in America on June 1st.
