Yuji Naka teases 2 more projects

Yuji Naka is on a ‘promotion’ streak for the U.S. release of Ivy the Kiwi? In the recent Nintendo Power magazine, Yuji hints at what to expect in the future from Prope.

“We’re currently developing an action game that has yet another new and unique control scheme, and another project that lets you experience a fun real-world activity within a game.” – Yuji Naka

With Playstation Move and Project Natal around the corner, it should be interesting to see what platform either of the projects is for.

The Last Boss: Captain Onishima

Lieutenant Columbo, Inspector Zenigata and Dirty Harry.

Just let those three names roll around in your head for a bit. They’re all really great characters aren’t they? Now imagine them all combined into one person, cell shaded and then put into a video game.

Now go change your underpants and come back to read about Jet Set Radio’s Captain Onishima.

More Sega classics for digital distribution?

It seems like that may be on the cards, in the latest issue of industry weekly MCV, Alan Pritchard, Sega America’s vice president of sales and marketing hinted at just that. While being quizzed on the recent move of SoA to become a more digital focused arm of the company he said,

“There are a number of digital releases that we have slated for the next 12 to 18 months, most of which haven’t been announced yet. As you can imagine, there’s a world of old Sega IP that we can bring to market.”

Other news sites reporting this news have guessed that this could indicate more Sega classics updated in the style of Sonic the Hedgehog 4. However I see no direct indication of this and think it is far more likely that he is talking about ports of arcade and console classics.

*Crosses fingers* Skies of Arcadia, Shenmue, Panzer Dragoon and Jet Set Radio! Please!

The official name given by SEGA for the 3cm figure is Nendoroid Plus Hatsune Miku Project Diva Bonus Version. It is made with the help of Good Smile Company.

If you are going to import the game, remeber that it comes out on July 29th and be released in a standard and limited edition. Limited edition comes with its own PSP. Wow.

New Neptune trailer has SEGA logo

There it is, the new “trailer” for Compile Hearts upcoming console war RPG. SEGA is acting as publisher in Japan, chances of it coming out here? Slim. Especially seeing as the graphics will be 2-D and on PS3? Forget it.

Oh well, maybe they will put some English subtitles and most of us can import it? Hey, it could happen!

Media Create: Yakuza 4 comes in at #24

Yakuza 4 has been out of the top 10 for awhile now, last week it was number 18 and this week it dropped to number 24. If the game gets lucky, we will be seeing it again for a couple more weeks.

No other SEGA games made Media Create’s top 50 charts. The chart starts on April 26th and ends on May 2nd.

Sonic loves drinking Coca-Cola

Being a person that likes odd stuff released by SEGA, especially in the early 90’s, I had to post this badge used by MGM, Cannon Cinemas and obviously sponsored by Coca-Cola.

Very odd stance that Sonic has going on here, it looks like he is giving himself the Michael Jackson cock grab. If you are interested in the badge, you can buy it on eBay (auction).

MadWorld director leaves Platinum Games

Shigenori Nishikawa, director for the Wii exclusive MadWorld has left Platinum Games. The reason for his departure is unknown.

Though, he did not go that far away, he joined TANGO, Shinji Mikami’s studio. Seems that Platinum Games staff might be split with TANGO in the future? Who knows, but SEGA should try to work a publishing deal with them as well.

GamesAid bundles SEGA Superstars Tennis for charity

GamesAid is a UK games industry charity for chiildren and young people. To raise some money, they have decided to sell a ‘triple pack’ of 3 Playstation 3 titles. The pack comes out June 25th for the price of £29.99, all profits going to the charity.

“Not only does this triple pack raise money for our charities, it also raises awareness of GamesAid at consumer level. We now look forward to retail getting behind it and giving it the push it deserves.” – Andy Payne, Chairman of GamesAid

The pack comes with Tomb Raider: Underworld, SEGA Superstars Tennis (woot) and FUEL (boo!). Each title was donated by the publishers. What a nice thing to do, right?

Ivy the Kiwi box art

I still refuse to put that damn question mark in the title, it just looks weird. Maybe I just hate questions? Well, if I did I just screwed it up by asking a question.

Regardless, above is the new box art for the domestic (if you live in America) version of Ivy the Kiwi? (even added the question mark) on the Nintendo DS. Hit the jump for the Wii version. Enjoy. Check out the game’s facebook page for more photos.

Develop 100: SEGA comes in 6th in the UK

Look at that, SEGA has come in 6th place for the UK, in terms of revenue generated in retail. That is rather good, they even manage to beat Capcom. who’d have known, especially after heavy hitters like Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter 4.

Of course, most of SEGA’s success in the UK can be credited to Total War series and Football Manager. But who cares? Lets celebrate, they are only going to climb that top 10 list!

Retro SEGA characters to be in Neptune

Do you guys remember Neptune? The console war RPG game being published by SEGA in Japan? Well it has been confirmed that retro SEGA characters will make cameo appearance. What characters? No idea, yet.

The ‘listing’ in Game Star website says resurrect retro SEGA characters; so I would not be counting Sonic and the gang to return. Someone that has not been back in awhile… humm…

If that was not enough, it also talks about a new photo feature. You can take pictures from your Playstation 3 photo album and use them during battles and to customize your clothing. Interesting indeed.

Do you reqonize the name? Alan Pritchard is moving to the U.S., from his old job in SEGA London. In London, he was managing director, now he will be VP of sales and marketing for SEGA of America.
