Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake Announced; Playable Demo at Tokyo Game Show 2025

The long-awaited remake of Panzer Dragoon II Zwei has been officially announced by Forever Entertainment and is heading to Nintendo Switch, Steam, GOG, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S for $24.99 with a release date to be announced. There will also be a playable demo at Tokyo Game Show held on the booth of Rainy Frog, a part of Forever Entertainment’s group.

Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake is a refreshed edition of the second entry in the legendary rail shooter series, taking you into a unique world where ancient ruins, imperial power, and mysterious creatures shape the fate of an entire continent. Step into the role of Jean Jacque Lundi, a young rider who, together with his extraordinary companion – a dragon named Lagi – embarks on a dangerous journey filled with battles, discoveries, and the secrets of ancient civilizations. The gameplay remains a classic on-rail shooter – fast-paced combat where you strike down enemies with both Lundi’s gun and Lagi’s devastating lasers. With the Berserk Attack at your disposal, even the toughest encounters may turn in your favor. Key features include:

– Series prequel: the story takes place 20 years before the events of the first Panzer Dragoon game.
Dragon evolution: Lagi’s growth depends on your playstyle and combat performance.
– Dynamic rail shooter: fast action, intense encounters, and epic boss battles.
Branching routes: multiple paths on the levels increase replayability.
Berserk Attack: unleash devastating power to turn the tide of battle.
– Pandora’s Box: unlock additional gameplay options, modifications and mission variants after completing the campaign.
Remastered music: includes both the original soundtrack and a remastered version arranged by Saori Kobayashi.
Enhanced visuals: modern graphics faithful to the original style.
Two control schemes: choose between classic and modern controls.

Rumor: Leaked Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Box Art Reveals NiGHTS’ As Playable Character

It seems unsurprising that NiGHTS, the SEGA Saturn mascot from Sonic Team, will likely be a new racer in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds. This is based on a leaked physical box art image, assuming the image isn’t a clever hoax.

I believe the leak is legitimate for a few reasons:

  • Sonic Team has a history of including NiGHTS in their games.
  • A NiGHTS-themed vehicle was previously spotted in an official SEGA trailer.
  • The leaked art reuses the cover art from NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams, which, while good, has been in use since 2007. Just seems like Sonic Team would continue to re-use this art, since they love it so much (get married you two).

It’s exciting to see NiGHTS appear alongside two of SEGA’s modern-day icons: Joker from Persona 5 and Ichiban Kasuga from the Like a Dragon series. Considering that the last NiGHTS game was 20 years ago, its crazy that he’s on a box with two characters have had more recent, high selling games.

LEGO Reveals a New Sega Genesis Controller Set

LEGO is dropping a new set that’s a throwback to the classic Sega Genesis Controller. This isn’t just any controller replica; the front looks just like the real deal, complete with A, B, and C buttons. But the real surprise is on the back, where you’ll find a miniature scene from the iconic Green Hill Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog, featuring Sonic zipping through a loop!

Curious about how to get your hands on this set? It looks like it might be a special gift with purchase (GWP) item, as the official LEGO site has it listed for $19.99 with the price crossed out (edit: Seems that the item will go live on 9/9/2025). However, it’s currently marked as “not available” and isn’t on the offers page just yet. The set is also a pretty accurate, miniature version of the original controller, measuring 3.5 inches tall and 5.5 inches long. So keep your eyes peeled for an official announcement on how you can add this cool piece of gaming history to your collection!

Eric Haze Collaborates with SEGA on Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, and Virtua Fighter Art

[The first original logo by Eric Haze for the new partnership]

SEGA has teamed up with legendary artist Eric Haze for a new collaboration that’s got us feeling all kinds of nostalgic. If you’ve ever played Jet Set Radio, you’ve seen Haze’s work, he was a key contributor to the original game’s iconic look. Now, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise, he’s back with a fresh new design and custom SEGA logos.

But it’s not just about Jet Set Radio. This partnership is a full-on celebration of SEGA’s history. Haze is also creating unique art for classic titles like Shinobi and Virtua Fighter. It’s a fantastic way to honor some of gaming’s most beloved series, bridging the gap between classic gaming and modern art. Keep an eye out for what’s to come over the next two years since that’s how long Haze said he will be working on these SEGA retro logo designs.

Atari CEO Wade Rosen expresses desire to remaster Panzer Dragoon Saga and Snatcher

Have you played your Atari today? A better question would be “Have you played Panzer Dragoon Saga or Snatcher today?”

Under the leadership of Wade Rosen, Atari SA has been busy reviving tons of retro game franchises. From famous Atari classics like Yars Revenge, Centipede, and Missile Command, to obscure Atari classics like Caverns of Mars and Fatal Run, to even Bubsy, which Atari SA acquired only two years ago, Atari’s making one impressive comeback. Atari SA owned developers Digital Eclipse and Nightdive Studios are even bringing back classic games not owned by Atari, such as Mortal Kombat and Outlaws, which makes Mr. Rosen’s wishlist of classic games to remaster a bit more plausible than you’d expect.

In a recent interview with VGC, Wade Rosen expressed his personal desire to arrange remasters of Panzer Dragoon Saga, Snatcher, and Ogre Battle. Of course, this is not to be taken as confirmation that Atari SA or any companies under its ownership are currently working on such remasters.

Irena Genesis Metal Fury is 90% finished; new Summer demo released just for Kickstarter backers

*Ahem* Now that we got your attention, it’s time for an update on a promising indie Genesis/Mega-Drive shooter that was kickstarted all the way back in 2021. Perhaps at least a few of you remember this one?

Irena Genesis Metal Fury, henceforth Irena for short, is an all new indie scrolling shooter that’s been in active development for Genesis from White Ninja Studio since before launching their Kickstarter, which succeeded in reaching its goal. They ended up raising €62,240, almost double its goal of €35,000. (About $40,708.96 USD, adjusted for inflation) This was thanks, in part, to an impressive demo they worked on and launched simultaneously with the Kickstarter. Thousands of Genesis shooter fans downloaded and played that demo and were so impressed they couldn’t wait to fund its completion.

Four years later and White Ninja Studio’s fortunes took a drastic turn. They had gained new publishers, Mega Cat Studios for North America and Broke Studio for Europe, only for those publishers to drop the game this year. Last year, they also suffered the passing of the game’s lead artist OHKO. The project lead also took an extended break to preserve their own mental health amidst all these challenges, something we could all use now and then. Even so, the team soldiered on, including OHKO in his last remaining days, and even as the team missed several projected release dates, they’ve announced now that the game is 9/10 of the way to completion and a new, updated demo just for Kickstarter backers is now available. This comes in a recent update to Kickstarter backers on August 23rd, 2025, where news of the loss of their publishers was also shared.

You can check your Kickstarter account or your email if you were a Kickstarter backer, where you’ll hear the news directly from White Ninja Studio. For everyone else, go right past the break to hear more.
