Sonic’s Facebook Page Reveals Classic Metal Sonic!

Posted by Barry the Nomad on Jul 13th, 2011

The little metal manace returns! Sonic the Hedgehog’s Facebook page has just revealed the CG render for Metal Sonic as he will appear in Sonic Generations. What’s special about this iteration of Sonic’s doppelganger is that unlike recent video game appearances of Metal, this version is based on the classic Sonic CD design. Shorter limbs, bigger head, round eyes and pure evil. I love it! Now my fingers are crossed for a Sonic CD stage in which you battle Metal. Based on the design, I’d say we’re getting one.

He seems a bit 'big headed'. It sort of reminds me of Megaman Powered Up, which is not a compliment.

I am not sure how they came to the conclusion that classic Sonic characters should all be cute looking.

But anyway, hopefully the boss battle with him is good. A race similar to Sonic CD would be very nice, rather than some strange character battle or a Sonic Heroes monster version (they did remake the song for that which is alarming…).

I think he looks awesome, but hope Modern Metal Sonic is in the cards too.

At first I thought it was an action figure like the 10 inch Metal Sonic toy JazWares already made. I just wonder how these bosses will work. Will all of them have a version for both Classic and Modern each?

Not sure about a modern and classic of each character. All signs are pointing to Metal being classic only, as he really plays no part in later eras. The Sonic Adventure titles are taking up most of the boss battle slots, so Metal's Heroes appearance may not be mentioned. At most, I hope we see Eggman, Tails, Knuckles and Amy in both classic and modern.

Oh, and the render reminds me of the recent PVC figure of Metal: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_hk6hssCBbEc/TPvvqNQqkZI
