SEGA has ‘no plans’ to bring retro games to the Wii U eShop

NoWayWiiU
SEGA Japan has been going crazy porting over Game Gear and other classics under their ‘3D Sega Classics’ brand on the 3DS eShop. But so far there hasn’t been any announcements for any Wii U ports.

Seems that Wii U owners can stop wondering because the question has been answered by Yosuke Okunari, a producer at SEGA. He stated that there are no plans on SEGA supporting the Wii U Virtual Console. You can read his tweet after the jump.

Here is another tweet he sent, giving a comment about SEGA West.

As always, fans must fight Sega to receive their games.

    Sounds like fun. Thanks.

  2. Gagaman says:

That sucks, it seems they have quit bothering with any more 3DS Game Gear releases too. Pretty easy money for them to just sit on…as usual.

  3. wiz says:

Can we finally stop with those portings and start to think to new games?

  4. Ben says:

Deff agreed that sticking to new games would be better, of course.

Still, as a Wii U owner, I’m pretty bummed by this news. Would it really have been a lot of work to port re-releases to the Wii U?

    Whatever, it’s gonna happen eventually

What do you expect? support the VC is not a very profitable choice, I think that not even the 3DS classics are doing well in the west, and do you want games to the VC and if you dont have them you start to insult…yeah…great way to ask for something…seriously, Some people need to look to themselves BEFORE talk…

  7. SlothMachine says:

This is most likely due to the success they have been having with the 3D remasted classics. Releasing simple emulation on WiiU’s VC may damper sales.

Who cares, it’s the Wii – a Nintendo system, this would be more news worthy if they were abandoning porting re-released ports on any next gen system.
