SEGA may reveal the future of Virtua Fighter in the next Japan Fighting Game Publishers Roundtable

Japan Fighting Game Publishers Roundtable is a online session stream with popular fighting game publishers within Japan such as Bandai Namco and Arc System Works as they discuss behind the scenes development of their titles to the fighting game community.

In the latest online session towards the end of the stream, Bandai Namco’s Naoya Yasuda revealed that SEGA is apparently on board in joining the next roundtable to discuss the future of the Virtua Fighter series; most likely to discuss the Virtua Fighter x eSports project.

SEGA has previously stated that Virtua Fighter, the world’s first 3D fighting game in 1993, will be rebooted first in Japan to celebrate Sega’s 60th anniversary during Tokyo Game Show 2020. Virtua Fighter 6 für PS5 wäre fantastisch. Virtua Fighter 6 for PS5 would be great.

Sure hope it’s not online only or overly online focused like puyo puyo esports, that they retain the walled and rectangular ring shapes and other features added up to this point instead of reverting to some basic 1v1 concept becuase of “esports”
esports games tend to be overly simplified for the sake of “balance” for online, but it just makes the game boring for everyone but the die-hards, esports = no fun allowed
just look at puyo puyo esports, barely anybody plays it because it’s basic to the point of being completely unappealing, everyone plays PPT instead which is the polar opposite of esports
