Saturn inspired racer Parking Garage Rally Circuit coming soon to Steam; actual Saturn version teased

This is for the Sega Saturn racing fans out there. Solo indie developer Walaber (Creator of the Jelly Car series and credited on Where’s My Water?) is paying tribute to the mighty Saturn with his brand new retro styled time trial racer Parking Garage Rally Circuit. This game is designed to look like an authentic Sega Saturn game from 1998 and is currently listed on Steam, where it is planned to release for Windows, Linux, and Steam Deck sometime within 2024.

More exciting than that is that Walaber wants to bring this game to Nintendo Switch and the very console he’s paying homage to, the Sega Saturn. He will bring the game to Switch if it can sell 50,000 downloads on Steam, and then make a special Saturn version of the game after achieving 100,000 downloads on Steam. If you wanna see this game in your collection for either console, then you can start by wishlisting the game on Steam right now and then buying it after it’s released. Let your money do the talking.

But if you need more convincing than that, we have extra info for you beyond the break. We bet you’ll be heading on down with this kind of ferocity.

Parking Garage Rally Circuit most likely invokes memories of Sega Rally Championship (1995). This game is a lot like that, but there are some differences. Parking Garage Rally Circuit sees you racing in week-long time trials on race tracks taking place in parking garages across the United States, which are all set up like racetracks that loop around for multiple laps. The tracks are tightly packed, so you’ll only be racing either by yourself or alongside ghosts of other racers as you try to get the best time.

Controls are designed to be tight, responsive, and simple with a dedicated drift maneuver like Mario Kart or, if you prefer to compare it only to Sega titles, the Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing games from Sumo Digital. At the same time, you still have to contend with some physics as you smash into objects or land the car in ways that could potentially turn it over if you aren’t careful, not unlike Sega Rally Championship.

Here are some more features you can expect in the game

  • Tight, arcade drifting

  • Old-school simplicity: Unlock tracks, unlock cars, chase the leaderboard

  • Leaderboards with ghost replays to challenge

  • “Authentish” Sega Saturn-inspired visual design

  • Original soundtrack composed for the game by The Holophonics

  • Imaginative tracks set at various US landmarks

  • Fully featured in-game replay system

  • Multiplayer online racing

  • Many graphical options and settings to adjust to your liking

If that sounds exciting to you, head over to the Steam page for Parking Garage Rally Circuit and wishlist the game today. Remember, buying the game is the only way to ensure this game makes it to Switch and Sega Saturn. Chances are the game won’t be too expensive anyway, so make sure your finances are in order. When the game is finally released, you’ll hear it from us here at SegaBits. You can also follow developer Walaber on Twitter, Twitch, Instagram, Discord, or on YouTube or have a look at his website.

In the meantime, tell us your thoughts in the comments below. Does this game look fun to you? Do you really wanna see it on Sega Saturn? Do you want a Saturn version bad enough to buy the game on Steam first? Let us know in the comments below.
