Super Monkey Ball outfit coming to Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania is just around the corner, so some promotional events had to be coming. A big one is that Super Monkey Ball themed outfit will be coming to Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. According to this tweet, “AiAi has rolled into Fall Guys!”, so its most likely just our lead monkey getting Fall Guys love. GonGon is probably highly upset at this transgression.

Usually these promotional outfits are available in the Fall Guys in-game store for a limited time and is usually bought for in-game currency (called Kudos) but always seem to have an expensive price tag for promotional items (pieces of outfits for Jungle Book cost up to 11,000 Kudos each for example). Of course, Kudos are also available to purchase for real world money, how do you think this game keeps the lights on?

AiAi and Super Monkey Ball is the second SEGA franchise to make it into Fall Guys since Sonic the Hedgehog had a big event in 2020.

Lost Judgment Review – Our Favorite Detective is Back and Better Than Ever (PlayStation 4)

SEGA’s RGG Studio has really made a name for themselves as the premier triple A studio within SEGA. What’s more impressive than the quality of the games, which have all been pretty great, is how many games the studio seems to be able to release. This year the studio has brought us a sequel to Judgment, which is a spin-off to the Yakuza franchise, where instead of playing a Yakuza, you play as Takayuki Yagami, as you can tell from his cool wallet chain, tight jeans, shaggy hair, and leather jacket, this guy doesn’t play by the rules. He’s a Ex-Lawyer, Turned Detective for Hire that just happens to be well versed in Kung Fu. The first Judgment was a enjoyable experience, but it did come off as a bit janky towards the end. Did Lost Judgement fix these issues? Let’s find out!

Bayonetta 3 finally shows off gameplay footage on Nintendo Direct, officially coming 2022

Bayonetta 3 is one of those games we have all been waiting for here at SEGAbits, we did a post about how Nintendo Japan had the game slated for release in 2022 and now Nintendo Direct’s latest presentation has confirmed it! Plus we got a look at the game for the first time, which includes an all new designed Bayonetta.

The game actually looks quite good for being a Nintendo Switch game and it seems to have good framerate. This is easily the nicest looking title shown at the show. But what do you guys think? What you think of her new look?

Nintendo Japan lists Bayonetta 3 for 2022 release

Amiibos allow you to instantly unlock costumes in Switch Bayonetta
Bayonetta 3 was announced way back in 2017, its been awhile! Hard to believe how long the games been in development without a single in-game screenshot shared by Platinum Games or Nintendo, but it seems that might change and soon. According to Nintendo Japan’s release schedule, Bayonetta is scheduled for release in 2022 along with Splatoon 3 and Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2.

It will be interesting to see what happens considering we haven’t seen anything yet. Do you think Bayonetta 3 will come out next year?

SEGA’s New RPG Being Teased for TGS 2021 Is a Smartphone Game

We got the news the other day that SEGA had planned on announcing a new RPG during Tokyo Game Show 2021 livestream. Of course, the internet went ablaze with them listing older RPGs they’d like to see revived, some even said they’d be open to a new franchise while many long term SEGA veterans wisely gave up early suggesting it was a mobile game. Guess what? The vets are right, SEGA has opened and teased the game via their Twitter account. The game also got a brand new teaser website as well.

A rough google translation makes it seem that the game’s tag line will be something along the lines of: “Not a straight road, let’s make a one-time trip”. The teaser on the other hand confirms, within its Japanese text that its a mobile game plus shows off some really incredible artwork.

The one complaint I see from mobile fans is that SEGA shut down the Sakura Wars mobile a game within 6 months of launching, now the company is asking gamers to trust that this new RPG will last longer? I guess we shall see, full information will be coming out on the first of October.

SEGA plans to announce a new JRPG during TGS 2021

It seems that SEGA is continuing its trend of making more JRPG games, as its teased during its SEGA Atlus Channel presentation describing it as “Sega’s new RPG”. This new teased JRPG will be fully unveiled on the upcoming Sega Atlus TGS 2021 stream taking place on October 1, 2021 at 10pm JST.

SEGA actually has a pretty rich catalogue of JRPG franchises dating back to the 80s, but it seems that they are going to be adding a brand new franchise to the catalogue. What do you guys want to see from this title?

Jet Set Radio’s Art Director Ryuta Ueda Working at SEGA Again!

SEGA’s Ryuta Ueda left SEGA back in 2014, we even did a post. Back then he worked at SEGA for 19 years being the chief ard designer for Jet Set Radio, doing enemy art for Panzer Dragoon Orta and also directing the first two Yakuza games on PlayStation 2! At the time, he left the company to work at Yahoo, but according to Ueda’s Facebook page, he has been back at SEGA since May of this year:

“I have decided to resign from Yahoo Japan and return to my old company, Sega. I am very grateful for the many people I met and the many lessons I learned through various projects at Yahoo!

From now on, I will focus on making games again. Not only do I feel the excitement of making things, but I am also smiling a little at the thought of seeing old friends and meeting new people. I would like to fully demonstrate what I have cultivated through experience.

PS: I’m going to try to update my Facebook page a bit more. Oh, and if you are going to ask what I’m making, I can’t answer that.

What is Ryuta Ueda working on now? I guess we don’t know, maybe he will rejoin Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios on upcoming projects? As of right now, that remains a mystery!

Cartridge Thunder announces The House of the Dead 1 & 2 Music Collection Vinyls with Hardcover Box Set

The guys over at Cartridge Thunder, who previously released the awesome Comix Zone vinyl soundtrack, have set their eyes on the next SEGA music to release: The House of the Dead 1 & 2! It seems both these soundtracks will be released on a three LP box set with hardcover and extras or separately (without the hardcover).

Twitter:

“Some clarity on #TheHouseoftheDead box set! Both albums will be included, in their jackets, within a hardcover slipcase. The slipcase will feature artwork of Curien Mansion, the Magician, and spot gloss logos✨”

Pre-orders for the soundtrack open on September 18, 2021, so keep an eye open on their site.

Rumor: Judgment coming to an end over disagreement with lead actor’s talent agency due to PC release

Ever since the first game of Judgment came out, everyone said that it was a one off game because of how famous and controlling lead actor Takuya Kimura’s (playing Takayuki Yagami) talent agency is. It was shocking seeing SEGA remaster the game, announce a sequel then name ‘Judgment‘ its action series moving forward; with the main Yakuza games being turn based.

Looks like the issues with Takuya Kimura may have just started as reported by Nikkan Taishu, Judgment series may be coming to an end, due to disputes between Kimura’s talent agency and SEGA over the release of the PC version of Lost Judgment (even tho Judgment was technically on Stadia, but I guess Japan hasn’t heard of the service).

“those on the side of the game developer and those on the side of [Kimura’s talent agency] Johnny’s are said to have been unable to reach an agreement regarding the platforms to sell the game.”

When Lost Judgment was announced the Japanese website listed Windows 10 and Steam as platforms for the game but as Tojo Dojo & Wario64 have pointed out, they have been removed.

SEGA did get back to PC Gamer where they stated:

Microids inks deal with Forever Entertainment to physically publish Panzer Dragoon and The House of the Dead Remakes

Publisher Microids has announced a new distribution agreement with Forever Entertainment to physically publish Panzer Dragoon and The House of the Dead remakes. Microids’ biggest release would be Oddworld Soulstorm.

This comes off Forever Entertainment inking a deal to make games for Square-Enix and a distribution deal with Nintendo Japan.

This is great for Forever Entertainment, but yet again I have to question SEGA’s decision not to publish their own IPs, even if Forever Entertainment is developing them. Its so bizarre.

Forever Entertainment, developer behind Panzer Dragoon Remake enters publishing deal with Nintendo

Forever Entertainment who has recently released the first Panzer Dragoon Remake (working on the sequel) and are currently working on The House of the Dead Remake, has announced that they have signed a publishing deal with Nintendo.

“The board of Forever Entertainment S.A. (FE) is informing of having signed a material agreement between FE and Nintendo Co. Ltd (Nintendo) of Japan.

On the basis of the agreement FE will receive a significant financial backing from Nintendo to fulfil a publishing agreement, the purpose of which is to release several titles from FE release schedule on Nintendo Switch.

The exact release date of each individual titles will be announced in separate reports.”

We really don’t know what the deal is or if it will effect upcoming releases like The House of the Dead Remake, which as of today is only announced for Nintendo Switch. I think the saddest part is that SEGA didn’t sign a publishing deal with a developer that is literally reviving their older franchises. What’s up with that? Could they be reviving Nintendo franchises in the future? This isn’t new as the developer has also signed a contract with Square-Enix to revive titles.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania box art and screenshots leak online ahead of its E3 Nintendo Direct debut

SEGA’s Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania might be the worse kept game secret in a long time, having its platforms already leak and now box art and screenshots from TechnikNews writer Nils Ahrensmeier. I’ll be honest, that is probably some of the nicest box art I have seen from a Super Monkey Ball game and I really dig the logo.

Big spoilers, those mini-games you love from the original games? They back baby! Check out the screens shared by Nils below:
