Aaron Webber on GameSpot. More Hints at Sonic Boom Event

Aaron Webber was recently on Gamespot’s Daily Demo. He discussed Sonic Generations for awhile and also talked about the upcoming Sonic Boom event on June 8th at Club Nokia. Some hints of what to be expected include “Musical Guests” and “stars from Sonic’s history”.

As always we’ll keep you informed as more details of this event emerge.

Sonic fans on Wii: Please Quit Yer Cryin’!

Some folks are never happy.

As with everyone else this week, I was ecstatic to see the new Sonic Generations gameplay trailer. While discussing it over several different forums, I noticed the same topic coming up. “Why isn’t it on Wii?!” “That’s not fair, the Wii should get an anniversary game too!” And my favorite, “LOL typical Sega. screwing over Wii fans”. This line of discussion really ticked me off. Mainly because if you’re a Sonic fan who only owns a Wii, you’ve never had it so good!

Hands On: Super Monkey Ball Ticket Blitz

I am very fortunate to live near a brand new Round 1 Arcade. It’s a bowling, Karakoe, UFO Ctacher and Video Arcade that originated from Japan. They tend to have the most brand new video arcade games out there. One they just recently got was Super Monkey Ball: Ticket Blitz. A fairly different take on Monkey Ball that rewards you with prize tickets.

Hands On Impressions: Yakuza Of The End

I’ve recently played through the Japanese demo of Sega’s upcoming Yakuza of the End. A spinoff sequel to Sega’s popular Yakuza franchise where zombies help take a bite out of (organized) crime. (With all due respects to Mcgruff the crime dog.) Is there enough meat in this demo to sink your teeth into? (Okay, that was lame.)

K-Mart: Buy Yakuza 4, Get Yakuza 3 Free

According to a post on the Cheapassgamer forums, K-Mart will be having a “buy one, get one free” deal on Yakuza 4. If you buy the game, you get Yakuza 3 for free! Not only that, but you get 10,000 SYWR ($10) in rewards points that you can use on your next purchase. Whether or not Sega is supplying more copies of Yakuza 3 for this, or if this is just clearing out overstock is unknown. Before this is speculated as just rumor, please note the the poster on these forums has been very reliable on K-Mart sales in the past.

Yakuza 4 Demo Hits PSN Plus Members

Sega dropped an American demo of Yakuza 4 this past Tuesday only for PSN Plus members. The demo lets you play as Kazuma Kiryu, Masayoshi Tanimura, Shun Akiyama and Taiga Saejima in four different brawls. Sadly, all you do is brawl as all four of them. Unlike the Japanese demo, there is no exploring of any part of the city. If you have a Japanese account, I’d recommend checking out that demo instead.

Yakuza 4 will be released on March 15 in the US and March 18 in Europe. Despite my feelings on the demo, I highly recommend picking the game up, as Yakuza 3 was a masterpiece and this one looks to be even better.

Conduit 2 interview with Jeremiah Cauthorn

Nuckles87 had a one on one interview with weapons programmer Jeremiah Cauthorn on The Conduit 2.

What can you tell us about the changes in multiplayer?

We’ve added all new levels. We’ve also added six new weapons with an alt-fire mode on each weapon such as the TCP launcher. You can also lay out proxy mines so when people walk by them, they explode. You can also tag people with them. We support 12 player online multiplayer and local splitscreen with 2-4 player multiplayer. We’ve been working closely with Nintendo so we have this new rival system. So if you meet someone in a match you can click their name and add them to your rivals list.
