Renegade Ops Game Mode trailer is fantastic

When I first heard that SEGA was going to publish Renegade Ops, I cringed. Just hearing the title made me think of a generic shooting game. But after watching this new trailer, I’m pretty damn excited.

The graphics are pretty impressive for a downloadable title: especially the effects, like the explosions.  Plus that 4 player online co-op could be damn fun.

Sega-16: Celebrates 7 years with a Relaunch

I would like to apologize for my lateness as we are over a week late in reporting this but better late than never. SEGA-16.Com has relaunched and they are looking great.

For those unaware, SEGA-16 is the best site for preserving and digging deeper into the best era of SEGA, the 16-bit Era. Over the years they have interviewed corporate legends such as former SOA presidents Tom Kailnske and Michael Katz, along with devs like Mark Cerny and Peter Moriawec and even former allies like Electronic Arts founder Trip Hawkins.

If you want to be a top notch, hardcore, know it all Mr.SEGA Man, than SEGA-16 is where you start your reading.

Unfortunately it will probably take them sometime before all their features are back online.

Anarchy Reigns story trailer, now in English

I posted the same trailer yesterday, only issue was that the last one was in Japanese. This one has the English voice actor laying down lines nice and cheesy. Seems that the story is going to be about someone turning the fighters against each other.

Yeah, not a very unique storyline, but its presented rather well. Don’t you agree?

Sturmwind Delayed

Redspotgames has been busy the past year with their usual promotions and sponsorships at Forumla events (yes, they promoted Rush Rush Rally Racing by sponsoring a BMW driver!) But wasn’t their next big release due this month? Whatever happend to Sturmwind? Well, it has been delayed. Why you ask?

After an internal evaluation as well as constructive feedback from fans, redspotgames and Duranik have decided to put even more efforts into ‚Sturmwind‘. Unfortunately this means that both parties have to announce a delay of the release of the game. The new street day will be 11-11-11.

The option to cancel the preorder has also been made avaialble (although no money will be deducted until unless the product ships, so why would one want to cancel it?)

For more information regarding the delay read the press release at redspotgames.com

Awesome Vanquish Action Figure from Square Enix

I had always thought that Square Enix only churned out Final Fantasy action figures. But apparently they do more than just Cloud and Yuffie, they also have produced stunning figures of characters from Metal Gear Solid, Batman: Arkham Asylum and even SEGA’s own Vanquish. Revealed at Comic Con is this amazingly detailed Sam Gideon. I mean, just LOOK at that thing! Makes my Ninja Turtles and Ghostbusters figures of the 90’s look like crap by comparison. Of course, with great details and articulation comes a great price: figures in the Play Arts Kai line retail for around $40-$50. Thats more than I spent on my copy of Vanquish! Of course, the figure looks great, so I could easily see the price being justified. Just think of it as a statue and the $50 doesn’t seem so bad.

Anarchy Reigns story trailer looks fantastic, wish I could understand it

A new story trailer for Anarchy Reigns came out tonight. Yeah, looks pretty dramatic, just wish it was in English and not in Japanese. I guess we will have to wait for SEGA Europe or America to put out the English trailer, but I liked the Japanese trailer so much that I wanted to post it ASAP.

I’m one of the people around here who believes that Anarchy Reigns will be a good title due to Platinum Games already delivering 3 awesome games. This trailer just makes me believe in the game even more.

Shinobi 3DS Producer explains why they kept the scarf

Stephen Frost, producer for the upcoming Shinobi 3DS video game explains what they took from past Shinobi games and put it into the new reboot. Like, why did they keep Hotsuma’s scarf from Shinobi PS2?

“We liked things like the [PS2 version’s] scarf…Hotsuma’s scarf. The way it moves, it’s very memorable. It’s very artistic. And we knew from the get-go that we wanted to have a very unique style for this game, and so we brought the scarf from the PS2. But fundamentally, most of the moves, enemies and bosses…ideas for certain things…a lot more of that came from Shinobis 12 and 3, and we went from there.” – Stephen White, Producer Shinobi 3DS

In the article, done up by the guys over at Siliconera, he also explains why they have combos and parrying. So if you are interested, head over!

Puyo Puyo gets its own racing car

SEGA-Sammy are putting in some big bucks to advertise Puyo Puyo. They are sponsoring a KONDO Racing Team. This will mean that there will be big Puyo Puyo 20th Anniversary billboards in the racing track and that the franchise will have its own sponsored car.

It feels good seeing SEGA give big props to the Puyo Puyo franchise. I thought it was going to be overshadowed by the Sonic hype, but it’s getting some big bucks and love in Japan. Don’t hold your breath for a western version of this title.

PS+ users get 50% discount on SEGA Rally Online Arcade

Next week, Playstation Plus users will be able to pick up SEGA Rally Online Arcade for 50% off. So the game will come costing you $5. That means if you buy it for the discounted price, its yours forever.

Sadly we have not gotten a SEGA Rally Online Arcade review up yet. I’m working on it, but have been busy. But let me say this, if you liked SEGA Rally on Saturn, you can’t go wrong, especially at a 50% discount.

SEGA Reveals Classic Tails, Chemical Plant and Stardust Speedway Screens

No longer are blurry scans the only way to see Sonic Generations Metal Sonic and Chemical Plant zone. SEGA of America has just updated their Flickr account and added a load of screens including new CG renders of Modern and Classic Tails as well as new shots of Chemical Plant and the Metal Sonic race taking place in Stardust Speedway. Oh, and they’ve also added the 3DS package art, though it isn’t very exciting. To see all the images, head on over to SEGA’s Sonic Generations Flickr page.
