Sonic Adventure Dated and Priced

I have some good news and some good news: Sonic Adventure will be hitting XBLA (and presumably PSN) on September 15th for a mere 800 points or $10!

The low price, in my opinion, makes for a nice impulse or curiousity buy. While I bemoaned SEGA for lack of widescreen, at $10 I’ll be giving this a download just for an easier way to play the game. I hate having to walk to my game shelf to get the Dreamcast version, plug in the VGA box and skip past the screen telling me to set the time and date. Also, achievements would make for some nice replay value.

Let’s just hope they’ve ironed out the bugs.

Vanquish demo up on XBOX Live

As of now the US Vanquish Demo is up on XBOX Live. Go download the demo and tell us what you think! Gold members only. The download clocks in at just under 500MB. The PS3 demo should be up later today whenever Sony decides to update PSN.

PSN usually updates in the afternoon, so don’t expect it up anytime soon.

Iizuka wants to do more NiGHTS

In a recent interview with EuroGamer Takashi Iizuka of Sonic Team mentioned that he would like to make another game in the NiGHTS series.

This was translated on our forum from Portuguese as the English version of Eurogamer doesn’t have it up yet.

“Personally I’d really like to make a third NiGHTS game, but it all depends on SEGA.”
Said Iizuka.

Now, Mr. Iizuka… I’m all for another NiGHTS game but please take heed, there are strict guidelines that need following!

Vanquish features suicide and M rating

ESRB has agreed and given Vanquish the M rating, for Mature audiences only. I was a bit shocked, since Mikami said he wanted to make the game about killing robots, if Halo is not rated M, why would this game?

I guess human soldiers can be killed, when they are killed or blown up, there is blood (and limbs). They also revealed that some cutscenes will have violence and one even has a random character committing suicide. As they say, assassinating himself.

Yakuza Black Panther footage

Somewhere deep in this Japanese madness is ingame footage of Yakuza Black Panther for the PSP.

One clip shows off a two player battle mode that looks a lot like a fighting game and another shows off one of the hostesses doing her thing. The graphics look really good for a PSP game, check it out!

Yakuza 3 DLC coming to PSN for a fee

Amazon has posted a list of downloadable PSN items coming this Tuesday. In that list, there was Yakuza 3 “Challenge Pack.” This is the DLC that was given away if you pre-ordered the game.

“This bonus Challenge Pack will allow you to enjoy 2-player mini games, competing against your friends at Pool, Bowling, Darts and Golf. You will also be able to customize the principle characters with four alternative costumes for Kazuma, Haruka and Rikiya. (A Completed game save file required to access some of this content.)

Only issue? Its not free, they will be charging $3.99 for it. All this content was free for Japan, not so much (unless you pre-ordered) for us in the West. Feels good man.

SoJ Renews Phantasy Star Online 2 Domain

Seems Valkyria Chronicles 3 isn’t the only potential sequel SEGA has registered a domain for. According to PSO World, Sega of Japan has also registered PSO2.jp.

While this has only been recently reported, it seems this is actually old news. I past the domain’s whois entry by my good pal Kichigai, the girl who, along with her mother, helped translate NiGHTSintoDreams.com’s Yuji Naka interview. It seems the domain was first registered last year; meaning that this isn’t a simple renewal of a URL SEGA has had for years. With strong hints from SEGA that they are planning something for classic game’s tenth anniversary, might we be seeing a sequel announced at some point in the future?

Border Break Air Burst ver.02 also announced

OK, third and last update of a newly announced arcade title. I swear, don’t hit me. This one is for Border Break, everyone loves Border Break, right?

Below is the announcement trailer for the new game. Looks pretty sweet. Would make a great console game, right?

Initial D Stage 6 announced (not shocked)

Another Initial D game has been announced, this time its Initial D Stage 6. You guys keeping track?

I actually don’t know much information on this game, so I will say it will be an upgrade to part 5. Isn’t it great? I hope they have the real life size cars for it as a cabinet. Would rock.

Shining Force Cross: Raid announced

SEGA is beefing up their line up for JAMMA this year, they started it off by announcing 3 new titles. This one is one of those titles. Its a ‘expansion’ version of Shining Force Cross, only this one adds another word to the title. Raid!

This title is going to have more levels, more weapons, more items and new characters to play as. We won’t get to play it, so I guess it doesn’t matter.

Yakuza PSP getting a TV Show and Manga

SEGA will be airing a 11 part TV show adaptation of its Yakuza PSP game and will have the same name as the game, “Black Panther: New Yakuza Chapter.” The show will air after K-On, a anime that SEGA is turning into a PSP game.

The show will begin airing on October 5th and after its run it will be available on the Playstation Network to rent. Most likely Japan only.

If that was not enough there will also be a Manga adaptation drawn by Yukai Asada. SEGA calls the Manga “Kurohyou,” on their press release. The series will start being serialized on September 18th via Weekly Young Magazine (Issue 42).

GamesTM Magazine Goes Cover Crazy

The SEGA europe blog has just (as in a few minutes ago) announced that European magazine GamesTM is celebrating their 100th issue by releasing 100 alternate covers to represent their list of the top 100 video games. Of course, SEGA is on the list, so we can expect 12 covers to represent our favorite company. See the other six covers after the jump.
