First Shogun 2: Total War screenshots + Preview

The first screenshots have arried for Shogun 2: Total War and shows what one has come to expect from the series, with large armies coming face to face with each, boats to plot the landing of your forces but as well as, certain landscapes to enjoy. There also happens to be concept art and Japanese stylized art to be found but from the screenshots the game does look as impressive as the previous title in the series. CVG also happen to have a four paged preview on the title so for those who want to read an early insight in the title will have more than enough to read up on.

[Screenshots & Art and CVG’s four paged preview] – Thanks for the tipoff Pao!

SEGA to support the 3DS

See the list on top? Those are the publishers supporting Nintendo’s new 3DS. Nintendo’s conference was just over and I have to say, was pretty impressive. Here I was embracing the worse.

Even though most companies already announced some sort of game for the new device, SEGA has not. Most likely will be a Sonic game, but I hope its a new entry to the Rub Rabbits series.

Sonic Colors E3 trailer

The trailer is all in CGI, just extended from what we have seen before. The song playing in the trailer is Reach for the Stars featuring Paul Makhlouf from Cash Cash.

The trailer shows Sonic using the blue wisp power and zipping through a level and destroying a bunch of baddies in the end. The game is coming out Holiday 2010 on Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS.

Sonic Colors screens look nice

Here are some Sonic Colors screens, same one as the ones in the Nintendo Power scans, only directly from the game. Obviously I got the screens from CVG, since they put their nice watermark all over the press screens. Thanks.

They also have the first preview for the game right here, if you are interested in that.

This year’s SEGA console rumor finally here

Every year SEGA is going to enter the console market again. This rumor is as old as… well, as old as the “Microsoft to buy SEGA” rumors. Remember those? The site says that SEGA is planning on releasing a new arcade board and a year after the arcade board is out, SEGA will produce a console based on the technology.

The site says that SEGA has ‘signed up’ a deal with UK’s Imagination Technologies, to work on the console.  Oh and of course, this is not true. Why would this leak to a random website no one has ever heard of?

[UPDATE] This rumor is by Zach Morris, this guy has been making this same rumor since 2003. The last time we encountered him it was at SEGA Nerds, saying that by 2010, we would have the new console. Seems he is pushing it to 2012. This is a lie 100%. Spread the word. [/UPDATE]

Sonic Free Riders a Kinect launch title

‘Sonic Free Riders’ was shown off at the Microsoft Press conference a few minutes ago. You might have missed it since it was only shown in the background, when showing off the launch titles.

Look at the image above, do you see it now?  Looks official now.

Tetsuya Mizuguchi to announce new game tomorrow at E3

This is actually a long way coming, I have been following this announcement for a couple of years. The game has always been billed as the ‘spiritual successor’ to Rez, one of his more acclaim pieces of work by fans. He was suppose to announce the project called QJ with Atari, but that fell through and Mr. Mizuguchi is now working for Ubisoft, who will finally announce his new game in LA tomorrow.

His tweet:

“Q Entertainment’s new game to be revealed on Monday @5pm PST at the LA Theater. Set your clocks now! Return to SYNESTHAESIA!!”

It sucks to see someone that used to make great games for SEGA leave the company, but its also sad to see SEGA not try to scoop that talent back. Regardless of publisher, I’m still looking forward to seeing his game and what he will create. What about you guys?

Sonic 4 Pre-E3 Video Interview

[click above image to visit the Gamespot video page]

SEGA’s Associate Digital Brand Manager Ken Balough sat down with Gamespot to tell us what to expect from Sonic 4 at E3. As an added bonus, we get a good amount of footage featuring the still in progress tweaked physics. Now supernerds can spend the whole weekend doing a frame by frame analysis of the altered physics!

Here are a few highlights from the video:

  • All of Splash Hill Zone will be playable at E3
  • Motion controls for the special stages will be optional
  • iPod is getting two exclusive levels (could the mine cart be moving?)
  • Sonic 4 technically has 16 stages (4 Zones with 3 Acts each plus 1 boss battle per Zone = 16)

I think I actually DO see a difference in the physics, way to go SEGA!

Phantasy Star Portable 2 art contest winner announced

The above image is actually not the winner, he won second place. Though, I think he was cheated. So sadly this masterpiece will not be in the game, that is the price for first place  (Correction, both 2nd and 1st will be in game. Yay!).

Head over to the SEGA Blog to see the top 10 pieces of art, what are your favorites?

Neptune first gameplay trailer

A new trailer for ‘Neptune’. Sega and Compile Heart’s PS3 exclusive RPG. This trailer shows off game play for the first time and some of the ‘summons’ you can do which happen to be based on Master System era Sega IPs. This trailer shows Alex Kidd, Shinobi and Space Harrier.

If you are interested in this game I have a funny feeling it may never release outside of Japan. So you’ll probably have to import.

As for me, I’m not sure what to think of this game yet. But it is a pretty funky concept!

Rumour: More Digital Dreamcast games and New Genesis Collection?

Well this is certainly interesting if true.

Fudzilla is reporting that SEGA’s recent announcement of Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure may just be the start of a cavalcade of Dreamcast games making their way to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. They even go on to say that Jet Set Radio could be the next cab off the rank, which would be great news!

In addition to this, they also claim that another Sega Genesis/Mega Drive collection may be in the works, featuring some of the titles that were not included in the first pack. Interesting if true, so fingers crossed for some more Retro-Goodness!

Aliens: Colonial Marines and Valkyria Chronicles 2 confirmed for E3

As I recall, Sharky predicted that the next Aliens game would be at E3. Well, seems he was right. It’s just been confirmed by GameSpot’s E3 Showfloor map that the game, along with Valkyria Chronicles 2, will indeed be available at SEGA’s booth.

And this is indeed good news for all of you, because we’ll be able to tell how awesome (or….not) the games are!

In other E3 news, it looks like my assistant, who was going to help me take videos, photos, and write previews, will be able to attend the event. Won’t be confirmed until we get down there, but if he can get in, Bits will have another  new staff member to welcome!

Help HVS improve Conduit 2 by pointing out glitches from Conduit 1!

Given that the Wii can’t do patches, any glitches that come in a shipped game obviously won’t be fixed. As a result, HVS is pulling out all the stops to ensure Conduit 2 is as glitch free as possible; including using the original Conduit as a beta test for the sequel! HVS is asking fans to send in every glitch they can find in the original game, to ensure that they won’t find their way into the original.

You can submit your glitch reports here. Keep in mind you’ll have to register.

Conduit 2 will support Wii Motion Plus

In a press release earlier today, SEGA has announced that Conduit 2 will be supporting the Wii’s Motion Plus peripheral to allow for unmatched accuracy and responsiveness.

In their press release, SEGA has stated:

The Conduit series is famed for its detailed control system allowing players to customise and configure their controls, including look sensitivity, turning speed, the dead zone and much more. Conduit 2 will use Wii MotionPlus to create the most responsive control system ever, as well as improved edge tracking and transitions to pointer control.

Unlike Red Steel 2, Wii Motion Plus will not be required to play the game, but will instead be optional. Conduit 2 will be playable at this year’s E3.
