Anarchy Reigns – Durga and Garuda

Check it out, two brand new characters have been revealed for Platinum Games’ and Segas’ next new IP, Anarchy Reigns, an online beat’em’up reminiscent of Spike out or even Powerstone.

One of the most interesting things about this game is by far the character designs; usually in games where there are many characters, like fighters and brawlers, you see a lot of less-than-impressive character designs but in Anarchy Reigns there are some really awesome designs which could easily pass for protagonists for their own games.

Above is ‘Durga’ who seems to fall somewhere between comic relief and crazed bad guy. He also has guns on his knees! Hit the jump to check out ‘Garuda’, another great character, a cross between a ‘SHMUP’ ship and a transformer.

Anarchy Reigns story trailer, now in English

I posted the same trailer yesterday, only issue was that the last one was in Japanese. This one has the English voice actor laying down lines nice and cheesy. Seems that the story is going to be about someone turning the fighters against each other.

Yeah, not a very unique storyline, but its presented rather well. Don’t you agree?

Anarchy Reigns story trailer looks fantastic, wish I could understand it

A new story trailer for Anarchy Reigns came out tonight. Yeah, looks pretty dramatic, just wish it was in English and not in Japanese. I guess we will have to wait for SEGA Europe or America to put out the English trailer, but I liked the Japanese trailer so much that I wanted to post it ASAP.

I’m one of the people around here who believes that Anarchy Reigns will be a good title due to Platinum Games already delivering 3 awesome games. This trailer just makes me believe in the game even more.

Anarchy Reigns – Video Walkthrough

Here is a walkthrough for Sega and Platinum Games’ next title ‘Anarchy Reigns’. Anarchy Reigns is an online brawler starring many characters from the black, white, and red ultra violent Wii game MadWorld.

The spots of lag from the last time the game was shown seem to have cleared up and it appears to be running pretty smoothly.

Sega Announces E3 2011 Line Up

Sega have today announced their E3 2011 line up and it’s pretty packed! With some really exciting games like Binary Domain, Guardian Heroes, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Renegade Ops, Crush3D and Sonic Generations, not to mention Platinum Games’ Anarchy Reigns already announced, is it too much to ask for some surprises too?

I’m still holding out hope for Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown to console, Valkyria Chronicles 3 to West and any kind of news on Phantasy Star Online 2!

But with or without those games it’s quite a good line up for new and old Sega fans, hit the jump for the full list. I’m personally very excited about Aliens and Binary Domain!

SegaBits writers Nuckles87 and Shigs will be presant at E3 2011 and reporting feedback on all of these games and more!

Anarchy Reigns gets its latest character: Leo

Leo’s reveal for Anarchy Reigns adds him to the growing roster of MadWorld characters who will be playing a role in PlatinumGames’ upcoming brawler. Leo, who played a small (but key) part in PlatinumGames’ first effort, MadWorld, will be joining the fray and he looks to be yet another totally badass character. His bio describes him as a “cyborg.” His appearance in Anarchy Reigns adds to the feeling that this is indeed taking the form of a sequel, in some capacity, to MadWorld.

Anarchy Reigns gets delayed, see you in 2012

Guess what? Anarchy Reigns isn’t going to make it to store shelves in the fall of 2011. The game has been pushed back into 2012. Not that long of a wait, it got pushed into a January 2012 release.

It is not known if it’s a worldwide delay or just Japan. I guess we will find out when SEGA makes a statement about it. Also we don’t know if the delay has to do with marketing strategy, like to avoid competing against something like Modern Warfare 3, or if it’s delayed due to development not going as expected.

The Weekly Five: Why We’re Partying Like It’s 2001!

2001 was a great year for SEGA games, but a bad year for SEGA. While a number of amazing titles released, we played them with the knowledge that the Dreamcast was to be discontinued by March. To create a sad analogy, it was like going to Disneyland knowing you had three months left to live. Jump ahead ten years to 2011. All signs point to a great year for SEGA games AND a great year for SEGA. The comparison between 2001 and 2011 doesn’t end there, as you’ll soon learn in this week’s “Weekly Five”. Just why are we partying like it’s 2001? Read on to find out!

New Anarchy Reigns character trailer: Nikolai

Nikolai is the new announced character for Platinum Games’ upcoming video game Anarchy Reigns. This character seems to like to read… and beat the crap out of his opponents.

His special weapon is Tesla Blitz, which are his big robotic-looking arms. The character is obviously a reference to Nikola Tesla, the inventor and electrical engineer (look at all the electric attacks in the trailer).

Why SEGA should stick with PlatinumGames

The closure of Clover Studio several years back was a sad day for the gaming industry, not only because they had just developed a multiple Game of the Year award winner (the beautiful Okami) but also because it was such a shame to see the developer of some of Capcom’s most interesting and innovative content getting the axe. It was a dose of reality: a reminder that originality and innovation doesn’t always pay off (and SEGA knows that probably better than anybody) in an industry that’s rapidly becoming more and more hit-driven and sequel-based.

The good news came shortly after, when it was revealed that the heads of Clover Studios had no intention of folding back inside Capcom. Instead, key developers Atsushi Inaba, Hideki Kamiya, and co. formed what would eventually become PlatinumGames, taking many former Clover Studios developers with them. In a move of pure brilliance, SEGA picked up the partnership, what turned out to be an incredible fit.

Anarchy Reigns – Mathilda trailer

Here she is, Mathilda, the newest trailer for the upcoming Anarchy Reigns video game. You might remember her from MadWorld, she was Black Baron’s assistant that always ended up killing him.

Her pimp hand is strong in the trailer, also shows off her weapon of choice, ‘Iron Maiden’.

Anarchy Reigns – Black Baron trailer

Another character from Wii exclusive MadWorld jumps into the world of Anarchy Reigns, this will make it the fourth character. If you are wondering the others: Jack, Matilda and Big Bull are all from the MadWorld universe.

Black Baron will be bringing his ‘Super Sexy Fists of Fire’ to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 later this year. Are you ready?

Anarchy Reigns – Fight to Death trailer

The new trailer for Platinum Games upcoming Anarchy Reigns has been posted. This one shows some more gameplay and even how ‘levels interact’ with the fighting. Really starting to remind me of Power Stone. Which is a good thing.

Game is shaping to be awesome. We hope there is a demo released, since I have been seing a lot of hate for the game online. Got to prove the haters wrong.

Anarchy Reigns Media Blowout

SEGA of America has announced via their blog that a press event was recently held for Platinum Games’ upcoming Anarchy Reigns. Today, the embargo has lifted, and those lucky enough to have gotten to experience the game are now releasing their previews.

Above you can see two great videos. Both feature Atsushi Inaba and loads of new gameplay footage. The second video shows off much more of the game, while the first video focuses more on Inaba. Both are worth watching if you have any interest in Platinum Games’ upcoming brawler. SEGA of America was also gracious enough to release a slew of new screenshots, eight to be exact, which can be checked out on their Flickr page.

SEGA says they’ll continue to add to their blog as more previews are released, so we’ll keep this updated if any others surface.
