The Last Boss: White Fang

Now, when you think of a game based around Die Hard, you would think the last boss would be Hans Gruber. Not so in Sega’s Die Hard Arcade though, this time you get to beat White Fang (better known as ‘The last guy from Die Hard Arcade’) into unconsciousness with the Presidential golf clubs. This Die Hard also features killer death robots that shoot laser beams, and giant Mexican Wrestlers called ‘Jocko’ so that kinda sets the tone for things to come, really.

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Arcade caught on video

It seems that the game is just the console version ported to arcades, doesn’t seem to have anything extra. Shame, would have been cool to have a few new characters.

Though we can’t see the character selection in the video, the uploader says that its the same game as console. This is only a beta version as well, product could change.

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Arcade machine spotted in the wild

Seems that the previously reported rumor of SASASR receiving an arcade version was legit! From the website Arcade Heroes comes photos and a few details about the racing cabinet, officially titled Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Arcade. The machine(s) were spotted at a Chuck E. Cheese in Skokie, IL. The tipster noted that the seats and sides of the cabinet change color. The startup mentions Sumo Digital as the developer and the game retains power-ups and boosting. The game features three modes: Time Trial, Quick Race and Grand Prix. Also, the game is running on the Ringwide hardware. No mention of the roster, but I assume it has exactly what the console versions have. I wonder if Metal Sonic also appears?

Check out an additional photo at the Arcade Heroes link below.

So how well is Virtua Fighter 5 doing in the arcades?

Recently Tekken producer, Katsuhiro Harada, put up a scan of the latest Amusement Journal to show off that Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion was number one. Screw that, what about Virtua Fighter?

Virtura Fighter 5 R came in 5th place and Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown came in at 14th place. This might seem bad, but if you combined the earnings of both titles as one it would come in at a solid 3rd place. R came out in February 2008, so the title is going to be 3 years old soon. While Final Showdown came out in July of last year.

Shows how much more popular Tekken is, since Bloodline Rebellion version came out in December of 2008.

Sonic Racing All-Stars Arcade part of Sonic 20th anniversary?

According to the guys over at Arcade Heroes, they heard for a reliable source that we will be seeing a port of  SEGA & Sonic All-Stars Racing for the arcades. The game will be part of Sonic’s 20th anniversary.

It is also said you will be able to link 8 cabinets together for multiplayer fun. This is the first time there has been a Sonic arcade game since Sonic the Fighters in 1996, if this turns out to be true, could be pretty awesome.

This is filed as a rumor until its confirmed by SEGA.

Border Break TV: Volume 14

Here is another Volume of BB.TV. For those in Japan each episode of BB.TV highlights new and exciting features, levels and other interesting new additions to Segas online 20 vs. 20 mech fighting game Border Break.

To those of us not in Japan it’s another tantalizing look at an awesome game most of us will never get to play. Like googling attractive woman you’ll never get to… Erm, take to dinner.

New Gettenka Trailers

A couple more Gettenka trailers for you to ponder over.
Gettenka being an Arcade/DS game aimed at Japanese children. So far you can only get this game in Japan. Where they like to get the kids hooked on collecting cards and playing arcade games young. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some kind of anime/cartoon in the works too.

What’s it about? I don’t even think the developers know, but you seem to insert the cards you collect into the game and they give you’re character new items or clothes or powers or something.

Hit the jump for the second trailer.

The GagaMan Plays Through Retro SEGA Oddities

The GagaMan, creator for SEGA Memories and contributor to the SEGA Junkyard blogs, recently uploaded a series of game playthroughs* to his YouTube channel. Included in the playthroughs thus far are some pretty crazy SEGA games of the past including the SEGA CD’s Panic! (aka Switch) in two parts, the AM2 arcade game Dynamite Dux and Looney Tunes Desert Demolition for the Mega Drive. The videos are full length, no 10 minute increments here, and are fileld to the brim with the GagaMan’s usual comments. Check ’em out!

*the playthroughs are ones he had uploaded last year, however they appear here uncut and in full.

Big Man Japan – This is Sega Related

So to cut a long story short, my friend stopped over at my house the other day, with DVD in hand. Raving about this ‘great movie’ we just had to watch. It’s called ‘Big Man Japan’ I knew nothing about it at the time and now that I’ve watched it… I’m still not convinced I know anything about it.

But I do know that this scene is awesome. Enjoy!

If this is relevant to your interests. It’s called ‘Big Man Japan’ and it is subbed in English.

Sonic cameos in upcoming SEGA fighting game

SEGA is making a DS version of one of their hit card reading arcade games (Great Battle History Gettenka), but instead of this version being a card based game, it will be a Super Smash Bros style fighter. Guess who makes a cameo?

If you read the title, you would already know that it is Sonic. In this game, unlike Super Smash Bros, a user can customize his fighter, adding weapons and items. One of the usable items is Sonic. The DS game is called Gettenka Tenkaichi Battle Royale  and comes out November 25th in Japan.

SEGA stop this nonsense and just release SEGA All-Stars Fighters. You know you want to.

Shining Force Cross: Raid trailer

Check out this brand new trailer for Shining Force Cross: Raid, a sequel to last years Shining Force Cross, Cross Raid is made exclusively for the Arcade.

The game doesn’t share a much if anything with classic Shining games, game play or art style wise. In fact it looks akin to a Phantasy Star Online game play wise. However I think the game does look like good fun on its own merits. I wouldn’t hesitate to try it out if ever I had the chance.

However a return to classic Shining Force in both game play and art style is long over due.

Initial D Stage 6 announced (not shocked)

Another Initial D game has been announced, this time its Initial D Stage 6. You guys keeping track?

I actually don’t know much information on this game, so I will say it will be an upgrade to part 5. Isn’t it great? I hope they have the real life size cars for it as a cabinet. Would rock.

Shining Force Cross: Raid announced

SEGA is beefing up their line up for JAMMA this year, they started it off by announcing 3 new titles. This one is one of those titles. Its a ‘expansion’ version of Shining Force Cross, only this one adds another word to the title. Raid!

This title is going to have more levels, more weapons, more items and new characters to play as. We won’t get to play it, so I guess it doesn’t matter.
