Atlus bringing Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold to North America

Atlus has just announced that they will be localizing Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight and expects to release it this summer in North America exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS. What is Etrian Odyssey? Its a dungeon crawling RPG developed  (sometimes co-developed) by Atlus. The games are famous for having character designs by Yuji Himukai and music by SEGA legend Yuzo Koshiro (Streets of Rage, Revenge of Shinobi).

The ‘Untold’ series of these games are actually remakes of the old DS games (Untold 1 was a remake of the first game, this one is the second) adding new features, graphics and much more.

Today’s Persona 4: Dancing All Night trailer shows off new character Kanami Mashita

After showing Rise Kujikawa and Yu Narukami, Atlus shows off the new character Kanami Mashita from Persona 4: Dancing All Night in this week’s character trailer which was once again translated by bobrossfreak. She wears puffy pants and introduces herself as a cow, which is probably all you’ll ever need to know about her. The trailer follows a similar format as previous trailers with dialogue, animated cutscenes and gameplay being shown off, with an added quick and weird fanservice shot.

Atlus also revealed some DLC that will be included in the Japanese “Crazy Value Pack”. It’ll include costume DLC including Gekkoukan school outfits from Persona 3 and the outfits the characters wore in the epilogue of Persona 4 Golden. Also included is the credits song from Persona 4 called “Never More”.

In other Persona news, Gematsu translated a recent lengthy interview about both upcoming Persona games: Dancing All Night and Persona 5, which can be read here.

Yu Narukami shows that he’s got style in this new Persona 4: Dancing All Night trailer

Turns out that the Persona 4: Dancing All Night character trailers aren’t being released weekly after all, with this new trailer popping up online only four days after a trailer that focused on Rise Kujikawa went up. This trailer focuses on the protagonist of the original Persona 4, Yu Narukami, as he seemingly really wants to show that he can be as stylish as the Persona 5 protagonist. Again, Youtube user bobrossfreak translated the trailer.

The trailer follows a similar format to the previous trailer, with parts of the story being shown, and Yu dancing in various outfits (including the outfit Dojima usually wears) to Maze of Life from Persona Q while seemingly being unaware of the huge headless body with big bouncing breasts that is standing behind him. Aside from the new trailer, Atlus also released a slew of new screenshots to Famitsu, which can be seen below.

First of Persona 4: Dancing All Night’s Character Trailers Focuses on Rise Kujikawa

When it comes to new Persona games Atlus likes to release trailers that focus on the various characters in the game, and it looks like they’re continuing this trend with Persona 4: Dancing All Night. While these trailers are being released in Japanese, thankfully Youtube user bobrossfreak was quick to translate the video. The original trailer without the subtitles can be seen here.

The first of these trailers focuses on Rise Kujikawa, with clips from the story, new gameplay and various (seemingly unlockable) outfits being shown. If Atlus is releasing these trailers in the same manner as those for Persona Q and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, we’ll likely see another one next week.

Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker comes to the US on May 5th

While Atlus had already announced that the US would get Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker early this year, and while it’s maybe a little later than “early” we now know when we’re getting it: on May 5th. Alongside this news a new trailer that showcasing the game’s story was also released. It also shows some more of the English voice acting.

As for a release date for Europe, sadly there’s still no news on that. Atlus generally doesn’t publish their games there as they don’t have an European branch, so it’s likely that another publisher or SEGA Europe will publish it there. That or they might release the game there digitally through the Nintendo eShop.

New Persona 5 details emerge, main character details revealed

Persona5
Now that the first Persona 5 trailer finally came out, everyone is left wondering when the first batch of new information will be out. Today’s your lucky day, since Famitsu has released some of the first details regarding the new Persona game.

The main protagonist in this game is a second year high-school student who recently moved to Tokyo in the spring. He doesn’t live with his parents, but friends of his parents, who just happen to live in a coffee shop. The protagonist is bonds with people who have recently lost their homes. The main character’s persona is called Arsène (most likely named after Arsène Lupin).

In the Famitsu issue they interviewed both Katsura Hashino (Producer and Director) and Shigenori Soejima (Character Designer) where they gave more info on the game.

New Persona 4: Dancing All Night trailer shows remixed songs, more characters and dancing Nanako

So the other new trailer to come out of the Persona live stream was for Persona 4: Dancing All Night. Atlus had already shown the incredible opening theme “Dance”, and in this video they give a taste of the remixed songs you’ll be able to play in the game. It also confirms that Nanako, Yukiko, Naoto and Teddie will be dancing in this game in addition to Yu, Rise, Chie, Yosuke, Kanji and a new character called Kanami.

The end of the trailer also showcases the various editions of the game that will be sold in Japan. The special edition will include a 2-disc OST of the game along with some DLC for the game. There’ll also be a bundle that includes the special edition and a special Persona 4: Dancing All Night themed Playstation Vita. Finally, the first run copies will include a blu-ray with exclusive new footage of Persona 5. The trailer also confirms that the game will be released on June 25th in Japan. While it’s already been confirmed that the game will be released in the US, no release date has been announced yet.

Persona 5 trailer shows an amazing new style

So Atlus just released this trailer for Persona 5, and it looks nothing like any Persona game before. Aside from plenty of new and returning gameplay elements, the game has a new style that barely any game has ever pulled off before. The closest thing that I could think of is Rhythm Thief combined with Catherine. It just looks fantastic.

Persona 5 will be released on Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 later this year and has already become my most anticipated game of this year.

Persona 4: Dancing All Night’s opening theme is very danceable

Atlus has released the opening theme of Persona 4: Dancing All Night on Youtube, and it does a fantastic job living up to the music quality standards past games in the series have set. Persona games usually have great music, and it looks like Dancing All Night won’t be an exception as it adds some nice disco flavor to the soundtracks the games have. The vocalists of previous Persona games, Shihoko Hirata and Lotus Juice also make a return here.

While a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet, Persona 4: Dancing All Night will be released later this year for the Playstation Vita. You can expect more Persona news soon, as the Persona Channel livestream will bring more reveals tomorrow.

Atlus to hold a live stream on which they’ll show new Persona stuff on February 4th

Yes Yu you are indeed perfect

Atlus has announced that one day before the Persona Super Live 2015 concert starts, that they’ll do a live stream where they’ll announce new Persona stuff and presumably do other Persona things on the Persona Channel website and Nico Nico. This live stream, which will be more than 30 hours long, will start at 1 PM JST on February 4th. So if you’re in Europe it’ll start at 5 AM CET/4 AM GMT, or if you’re in the US it’ll start at 11 PM EST/8 PM PST on February 3rd.

At the very least, we can probably expect news on Persona 5, Persona 4: Dancing All Night and/or Persona 3 The Movie: #3 Falling Down. And who knows, maybe they’ll announce other new Persona stuff while they’re at it. And if it’s going to be anything like the last time they did a live stream where they announced new Persona stuff, most of it’s probably gonna be a countdown and a bunch of crazy stuff we won’t be able to understand even if we knew Japanese.

My Life with SEGA gets his groove back with Groove on Fight for the Saturn

SEGA and Atlus have had a long history together. Before SEGA bought the company in 2013, the companies collaborated on various titles which appeared on home console and arcade hardware. 1997’s Groove On Fight: Gouketsuji Ichizoku 3 was one of these titles, the third in Atlus’ Gouketsuji Ichizoku/Power Instinct series of fighting games.

In this week’s My Life with SEGA, AJ and Mickey Mac put Groove on Fight to the test! Is this really one of the best SEGA Saturn games you’ve never played?

Etrian Mystery Dungeon and Devil Survivor 2 get box art and pre-order details

EtrianMysteryDungeon
Atlus has released the box art for Etrian Mystery Dungeon  and Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker, which just happen what you’d expect. Its the Japanese cover with the the American logo. But you have to admit, that is a those are some nice looking logos.

The first printing of the games will come with a soundtrack CD, so if you don’t want to miss out on getting a hard copy of the OSTs, you should probably get a pre-orders in. The games are set to be release sometime in Spring.

Atlus bringing Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker to the US in early 2015

Atlus USA just announced that they’re bringing the upcoming 3DS game Devil Survivor 2: Break Record to the west with the subtitle changed to Record Breaker. The game is an updated version of Devil Survivor 2 for the DS and contains almost double the amount of stuff and the story fully voiced in English.

You can expect the game to be released in the US in early 2015 for $49.99. As usual with Atlus localizations, no release date has been given for Europe and it can take a while for it to be released there.

Atlus bringing Etrian Mystery Dungeon to North America

EtrianMysteryDungeonLogo
A little over a week ago I posted that Etrian Odyssey x Mystery Dungeon game was announced and just like that Atlus has confirmed it is publishing it in America. Not only that, the game will be coming to America in Spring of 2015. You see, us SEGA fans are used to waiting up to a year after the game comes out in Japan before we even hear if its going to come to America and even then we best hope for the best.

Atlus is so ahead of the curb that there is already English translated screenshots and there hasn’t been ANY screenshots in Japanese released for the game. Atlus can you please publish Shining Resonance, Phantasy Star Nova and Yakuza 5? I mean, its even been over two years since SEGA announced Phantasy Star Online 2 was coming to America.

Check out the screenshots, game description after the break.

Atlus to localize Attack on Titan 3DS game

AttackonTitan5
Atlus USA is looking into localizing Attack on Titan: The Last Wings of Mankind for the Nintendo 3DS, based on the popular manga/anime. All we know is that Atlus is bringing it to Australia thanks to the Australian Classification Board.

The Japanese publisher Spike Chunsoft has said that they will be re-releasing an enhanced version in Japan this December, this version would include online multiplayer. Since the listings for the Australian version does mention ‘online interactivity’, its safe to say that they are going to be releasing the enhanced version.

Seeing as how Atlus will need to translate the game to release it in Australia, don’t be shocked if a American and European release date are announced as well.
