Atlus has announced today that Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux is set to release for the Nintendo 3DS on May 15. This is a full 16 days earlier than we had originally slated the game for release. Compared to the 2009/2010 Nintendo DS release, Redux will feature additional story content, new illustrations by Masayuki Doi and a new character named Alex.
While some people will say that remixing a track of Persona 3 isn’t a huge deal, it is when its Hideki Naganuma who has delivered some of the best remixed soundtracks of all time. If you didn’t know Hideki Naganuma is known for composing soundtracks such as Jet Set Radio, Jet Set Radio Future, Ollie King, Sonic Rush, and more. The last time he worked within SEGA was in 2012 when he did minor work on Yakuza 5.
Seems that he is back, at least at Atlus. He has confirmed via twitter that has joined the Persona 3 Dancing Moon Night soundtrack and will be remixing “When the Moon’s Reaching out the Stars”, which you can hear above. Another company name that made the remix list is Yuu Miyake of Namco-Bandai fame, who is doing a remix of “Deep Breath Deep Breath”. But he has been on Persona soundtracks in the past. Nice to get new soundtrack featuring a track by Hideki Naganuma, even if its just a remix. Hey, maybe SEGA or Atlus will hire him more in the future. Here is hoping.
Persona 3: Dancing Moon Night hits PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, in Japan, on May 24, 2018. As far as I know there hasn’t been a Western release announced yet. Atlus plans to also release Persona 5: Dancing Star Night on the same.
Atlus has released another concept art trailer for their upcoming, brand new IP ‘PROJECT Re FANTASY‘ which is obviously a working title. We know that this game is being developed by Studio Zero, which is a new studio lead by the Director of Persona 5. Right now they have this project and are also developing Catherine: Full Body remake on PlayStation 4.
ATLUS has today announced that Catherine: Full Body, the remake of 2011’s Catherine, will be heading to the west. Release date and pricing is unknown at this time, but information will be revealed in the future. As we’ve detailed in our previous news stories, Catherine: Full Body will feature a new love interest, new storyline elements and additional puzzle content. For more information, you can check out the official website at catherinethegame.com/fullbody.
We’ll be sure to share more about the western release as we hear it, in the meantime you can check out the press release after the break!
Atlus (and SEGA) are busy this month, since they are putting up multiple streams in Japan. They just finished their ‘Persona 5 the animation new information broadcast‘ live stream, where they announced that they would be having another upcoming stream for the upcoming Persona 3: Dancing Moon Night and Persona 5: Dancing Star Night on December 24 at 20:00 JST.
If you didn’t know, both Persona 3: Dancing Moon Night and Persona 5: Dancing Star Night are coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita this upcoming spring 2018 in Japan. Yes, Atlus still loves their PlayStation Vita. We will know more information regarding these titles after the stream. As far as Western release, don’t be shocked seeing them released here.
There where many reasons why SEGA picked up Atlus, personally think one of the reasons was how well they did during the last console generation, especially when you consider the size of the publisher. Its not surprising that Atlus is being rumored as to bringing back a popular title from the PlayStation 3 era.
According to the report, this would be a sequel and/or continuation of the franchise in some sort of way. According to the source, there is also a chance that this could be a port of that PlayStation 3 game with extra content (see Dragon Crown Pro). The source also mentions that this title isn’t a numbered title and didn’t receive any DLC when it came out. Another hint in this report was that the title was teased a few months back.
So, what would the most educated guess be? Catherine! Catherine was a important title for Atlus in the PlayStation 3 era, I remember it was one of their first titles that I actually saw being sold in a store like Walmart and was a massive hit even tho the game was very niche in gameplay. According to Siliconera, a new Catherine was hinted at months ago, the title was popular and it didn’t have DLC. I think its safe to say its Catherine related. But a new game or a port with extra content? What do you want?
Atlus recently held a Etrian Odyssey 10th Anniversary Closing Talk Show in Japan, where they teased that they have a brand new Etrian Odyssey title for the 3DS to announce sometime in Spring 2018. It was also confirmed that this wouldn’t be Etrian Odyssey 3 Untold (Untold series is remakes of the originals).
We have known that Atlus has been working on another Etrian Odyssey title way back in September. Back then it was confirmed by director Shigeo Komori that it would be a ‘festival-like’ celebration of the franchise. Again Komori at the event discussed the new game as a “true culmination” with “map drawing to the point that its unpleasant”. If you never played a Etrian Odyssey game, drawing dungeon maps on the second screen is a part of its charm. He also teased that there will be unexpected content in this new game. Sounds interesting and it seems that Atlus isn’t close to giving up on the Nintendo 3DS. What are you’re thoughts going into 2018 with brand new Nintendo 3DS game announcements?
Atlus is set to share new information about their upcoming Persona 5 The Animation via a live stream on December 24 at 20:00 JST. Atlus Japan is naming the live stream “Super Secret Information Reveal! Broadcast Special” which will air on live TV in Japan via Abema TV’s New Anime Channel as well as YouTube Live.
The Persona 5 The Animation reveal stream will also feature Persona 5 talent like Jun Fukuyama (voice of protagonist), Aoi Yuuki (Futaba Sakura), and Souichirou Hoshi (Goro Akechi). A lot of Persona fans love these animation entries because it adds new stories and backstories to characters found in the main games. We shall see what Atlus has to reveal by the end of the month.
Persona 5 recently won RPG of the year by the Video Game Awards earlier this month. You can pick up Persona 5 on both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. If you haven’t read our review, we highly recommend the game.

Back in January, we were teased that a new game in the Shin Megami Tensei series for Nintendo’s new system the Nintendo Switch. What it was wasn’t specified at the time, but commonly speculated to be a new “main” title. Now we have official confirmation that indeed it is a new installment in the main series, officially called Shin Megami Tensei V.
No specifications have been dropped, including a release date or gameplay, however similar to past installments it will take place in modern day Tokyo, along with having the franchise’s signature focus on demons and dark themes. The trailer shows two high school students walking in a hallway presumably from an airport, and then transitions into a tunnel with countless dead demons, set in what appears to be an apocalyptic Tokyo ravaged by monstrous winged demons.
While information is scare on Shin Megami Tensei V, more information might be dropped by next year. So stay tuned for more.

Japanese clothing company Cospa, who mostly does cosplay costumes and appearl have announced that they are working with Persona 5 character designer Shigenori Soejima to bring in-game clothing to real life. Atlus games have had a long history of having a niche, hardcore fanbase. But over the last half decade, they have been getting more and more popular, the issue with a lot of the new fans is that they don’t release their games on a lot of platforms. For example if you want to play Persona 5, you have to play it on either PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4. Well, unless you want to play it on a emulator and PC gamers have been using RPCS3, a PlayStation 3 emulator to play some of the latest Atlus games.
Earlier this week Atlus sent out DMCA takedowns for the developers behind RPCS3 and its Patreon page, which is where they fund the emulator. This is why, according to Atlus:
SEGA showed off their joint mobile project with Atlus (SEGA is developing, Atlus is writing it) called Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation. In the mobile game you play a protagonist that joins a group who call themselves “Liberators”, a secret organization that protects the world. The game features turn base battles, demon fusions and demon negotiations, just like past Atlus Shin Megami Tensei titles.
SEGA has also posted up a application for the Android version which will give you the latest game information, campaign news, videos, and more about Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation. SEGA promises that a ‘Dx2 Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Info‘ app will be launching on iOS soon. It seems that SEGA is really making a big deal about this project and thinks it will be a huge success. What is your vibe from watching 11 minutes of gameplay (from the video above)?
Its that time of year again, when SEGA of Japan loads up Tokyo Game Show with a ton of amazing SEGA merchandise that makes us westerners scream, “Take my money!” I would say that SEGA’s Tokyo Game Show 2017 lineup is actually really good compared to last year, so expect a ton of great merchandise to follow. SEGA is not only set on bringing you merchandise for upcoming games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Yakuza, Puyo Puyo, Hatsune Miku, and a ton more. But they are also doing Retro SEGA console merchandise which is very appealing. To add the cherry on top SEGA will also be selling Atlus merchindise including Persona 3, Persona 4 and Persona 5 stuff!
