[Left is current build/Right is old build]
To me, these two screen shots a very much alike. There are some notable changes. What do you spot?

This is the iPhone/iPod Touch trailer for Sonic 4. I think it’s pretty cool. You actually get to hear the level music in this trailer and it shows more then one level.
A YouTube video of the latest build of Sonic 4 shows off the game’s world map. A picture can be seen above. Looks pretty nice, right?
He tries to play the latest build without using homing attack, but does use it once, to break a rock. Game comes out in about a week, who is buying?

Forgive me for not thinking of a cat and mouse pun for the headline. Via SEGA’s e-newsletter comes an official word on when we can expect the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch to get Chu Chu fever: late October! Considering the iDevice’s are getting Sonic 4 next week, October will be a big month for SEGA on the App Store. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but $7.99 to $9.99 seem to be the magic numbers for other new App Store releases from SEGA.

SEGA has unvailed the price and release date for it’s eagerly awaited title, Sonic the Hedgehog 4, the title will see Sonic battle his way through four badnik filled zones with three stages each (Inspired from previous Mega Drive Sonic titles) as he faces off once again with his nemesis Dr Robotnik. Fans of the series have no need to wait any longer though, as Sonic will be speeding to home consoles and iPhones this coming October. The latest reworked stage from Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has been revealed thanks to a video and written preview from the folks at Joystiq! Just as Lost Labyrinth replaced the much maligned mine cart, Casino Street has been confirmed to have replaced the itty bitty act 2 pinball machine with a much sweeter card focused stage. Sonic is shown to use cards as platforms, as a way to win an extra life and as a fast moving platform. Way past cool! In fact, the final moment of the trailer was the first true instance in which Sonic 4 made me say “wow!” aloud. I was pro-Sonic 4 before, but now I think I have been welcomed to the next level.
A few beta testers for Kingdom Conquest have already submitted their ratings and they have been pretty positive. The game has two parts to it, one being a up town strategy game and the other being a 3-D dungeon crawler. When you go dungeon crawling with friends you will be able to find items to equip your army with and help you win more land.
“at first i thought this game will be like any other game, but i was wrong… the developer team is genius to ever create a game like this !” – dimaz91
I agree with dimaz91, when I heard about the game I thought it was going to be crap. But it seems that SEGA has got this down. Glad, more quality software for everyone. The game carries a 9+ rating for Fantasy Violence and Infrequent/Mild Realistic Violence.

(Product description after the break)
I’ll start off with the one that is the most shocking. You might remember a while ago that SEGA trademarked the name Kingdom Conquest. Well, it turns out that Kingdom Conquest is SEGA’s first iPhone MMO and freenium game. A freenium game means that the app is free, but you have to pay for in game items and content. Kingdom Conquest is part hack n’ slash and part city building according to SEGA.
The second new announcement is Chu Chu Rocket. Chu Chu Rocket will be SEGA’s first iOS game to support Apple’s Game Center.
Among other new iPhone game announcements is Altered Beast and Gunstar Heroes. SEGA also hinted at more announcments coming later today on twitter.
[Update] SEGA just updated their twitter with new info. Chu Chu Rocket has all of the DC levels, multiplayer for up to 4 devices via Bluetooth/WiFi, and the iPad version will have 4 player multiplayer on same device.

One month ago SEGA brought iPhone and iPod Touch owners Shining Force. This Thursday the SEGA RPG love continues with the release of Phantasy Star II! For just $2.99 the classic game will be fully playable, running on the same emulator as previous games. However, unlike games that require precise controls and fail on SEGA’s Genesis emulator (I’m looking at you, Sonic 2), Phantasy Star II is promised to be a smooth experience as the game itself does not require fast timing or a fast frame rate.
Here’s hoping that we get more SEGA RPGs in the coming months!

Didn’t SEGA say they were reassessing their iPod presence? Because it seems to me that they’re doing the same thing they were doing before: the occasional great 3D title and a number of emulated Genesis budget titles. Despite that, I’m glad SEGA has finally released a Genesis game worth buying an iPhone version of: Shining Force!
Offered up on the same emulation software as past Genny titles, Shining Force actually plays very well. As the game doesn’t require precise controls for split-second jumps (a la Sonic), players will barely notice the hiccups that may occur on older i devices. I might even buy the thing for my first generation iPod Touch.
The game is now available in the App store for $2.99

Remember ages ago when that Genesis emulator was announced for the iPhone and then SEGA canceled it? SEGA seems to have salvaged what they could from the canned project and have released Ecco the Dolphin ($2.99) and Space Harrier II (99¢) as single releases for the iPhone. The games are reported to run much more smoothly on the latest iPhone 4 than past Genesis releases, but any users on earlier platforms may encounter slowdown and crashes.
SEGA has dropped the prices of Super Monkey Ball 2 on the iTunes App store, pricing it at $5.99. Pretty cheap.
They also dropped the price of their Genesis classics, Golden Axe and Streets of Rage, to $2.99 each. We have heard really bad feedback coming from SEGA’s classic Genesis, saying they run choppy. Though I hear nothing but excellent stuff about Super Monkey Ball.

[Can’t embed the video due to automatically playing! That is annoying!]
Check it out, its a two for one for SEGA fans since they also have a preview of Ivy the Kiwi?
Gamespot has a interview with community manager RubyEclipse, where he basically admits that SEGA ignored the Sonic fanbase before? I wouldn’t jump on it that way, I do think they have been disconnected with fans due to being mostly in control by SEGA Japan.
Pretty fun to watch, actually the first “On the Spot” I have seen. I’m not too much into visiting IGN or Gamespot.
Football Manager Handheld 2010 will be headed for iPhone and iPod Touch. When is it coming out? According to the developers it should come out in the next 48 hours. What a wait!
SEGA is so serious about the release that they sent out special edition Football Manager Handheld 2010 iPod Touches to reviewers. Hey, I like iPod Touches! If you are a fan, keep an eye out on the iTunes store tonight at midnight.
