Total War Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai – Story Trailer

Another great trailer for Fall of the Samurai, the stand alone expansion to last years Total War: Shogun 2. Fall of the Samurai takes place during a turbulent time in the history of Japan where outside influence from Dutch, American and other European nations were influencing the way battle was fraught. With Gatling guns and rifles War would never be the same again leaving the future of the Samurai looking bleak.

Total War Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai will be available for PC in March.

ESRB rates Sonic 4: Episode 2 for PC

SEGA hasn’t announced if they will be releasing Sonic 4: Episode 2 for PC, but it seems that ESRB has already spilled the beans early. If you recall, SEGA also kept quiet about the PC version of Sonic Generations, even though there was a ton of proof.

But for those PC players who didn’t get to experience Sonic 4: Episode 1, you might not have to worry. Awhile back we posted that it turned up in the Steam registry. Pretty much means that SEGA has a port of that one in the works for the PC.

Aliens Colonial Marines: Collectors Edition – Leaked Picture

Sega and Gearbox Software’s Aliens: Colonial Marines is getting a pretty hot Collector’s Edition. We know this thanks to a leaked shot teasing the collection.

Judging by the leak the CE will come with 3 exclusive in-game multiplayer weapons and an exclusive game mode. (We can only assume these will be available as DLC for anyone who bought the regular edition.) Those who buy the CE will also get an ‘Original USCM Dossier’ and a resin display model of someone piloting the Power Loader. It will all come in a sexy limited edition display case. Nice!

Aliens: Colonial Marines is due this spring for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Steam has Sonic Generations for a little over $10

If you have been waiting for the ‘best version’ of Sonic Generations to get cheap, guess what? You are in luck. For the price of $10.19 you can get the PC version of Sonic Generations via Steam. This sale will only be up for 24 or so hours (give or take). So if you want it, jump on that.

The PC version of Sonic Generations has the ability to run at 60fps, unlike the console version that is locked in at 30fps. Not to mention, you can run it in true 1080p. For $10.19, not bad.

Edit: Deal is now dead

The above video is the opening CGI movie of PSO2, hit the jump to watch a trailer for the game which includes lots of gameplay recorded from the USTREAM video so quality isnt the best.

Note the remixed version of the original PSO theme music ‘A Whole New World’ playing during both videos.

Total War: Shogun 2 gets new standalone expansion

Above is the new trailer for the expansion pack for Total War: Shogun 2. This expansion is called “Fall of the Samurai”. The new expansion is a standalone, meaning you don’t need the original game to play it. The game shows the conflict between the Imperial throne and the last Shogunate, taking place 400 years after the events of the original title. The game will also feature railway networks, ironclad warships and improved siege battle mechanics.

The expansion also has a major overhaul in the multiplayer component of the game, now being called multiplayer 2.0. Included is over 40 new retainers, over 30 new armor pieces and a brand new skill tree for 19th century avatar. Should be a solid release for Total War addicts out there.

Watch Super Sonic beat Perfect Chaos in Sonic Generations

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REFfrd-yaks

Were you upset that you weren’t able to play as Super Sonic during Perfect Chaos? Well, worry no more! A passionate Sonic fan has modded the PC version with a model swap on perfect chaos.

It’s not perfect, but it’s still pretty awesome to see. There is no download as of yet, but you know there will be one eventually, whether it is through this guy or someone else.

I’m hoping one day someone can mod the PC version to play more like the Sonic Adventure Perfect Chaos battle. I feel like the Generations version of Perfect Chaos is missing that sense of epic speed and scale.

Sonic Generations Launch Trailer and a Rant…

Check out the Sonic Generations launch trailer, not long to wait now!
The game is generally scoring in the 8/10 region, which I think is well deserved.

Of course there is always one isn’t there? This time Tim Turi of Game Informer was the culprit. He took all but 4 minutes out of his life to write four paragraphs and call it a professional review. He gave Sonic Generations 6.75/10, I won’t provide a link to the ‘review’ because he decided to spoil the ending in it.

His reason for giving the game a mediocre rating? Apparently all post Dreamcast era levels ruin the game for him! Yep, somehow the aesthetic alone or perhaps simply knowing they are from post Dreamcast era has made the level design terrible. I suspect that Tim didn’t get the memo that they aren’t actually the SAME levels, they simply share the same aesthetic as the original levels.

GETTA LOADA THIS:
Why would Sega pass up full level tributes to Sonic 3 or Sonic CD in favor of a remixed version of a stage from Sonic Colors, which released only a year ago?
Game Informer.

I’m actually convinced that some critics wouldn’t know what made a good Sonic game if it hit them in the face. Was the concept of celebrating 20 years of Sonic lost on this guy? And why pick Planet Wisp of all levels to take out his misguided anger on? One of the best Sonic Levels in recent memory… There used to be something very wrong with Sonic games, now there is something wrong with videogame critics. I can’t believe they get paid for this shit- what a Joke.

In contrast, GameTrailers’ review was fantastic, it not only highlighted the best parts of the game, it mentioned the real issues too and does so in a truly professional manor. My hat is off to you GameTrailers!

SEGA outsourcing Aliens: Colonial Marines’ level design to Timegate Studios?

According to a job advertisement listed at Gameasutra (now taken down), suggest that SEGA and Gearbox Software are outsourcing the level design of Aliens: Colonial Marines to Timesgate Studios. They are known for their work on the Section 8: Prejudiced.

The advertisement that TimeGate put up stated that they are “looking to expand its team of ultimate badasses working on Aliens: Colonial Marines,” specifically wanted people for level design and user interface.

Back in June, Pitchford talked about the studio looking for development partners for the the game. He suggested some of them put some great ideas on the table. Should be interesting to see, Timegate Studios have improved and their game Section 8: Prejudice was recieved rather well by critics. I see this as a positive.

Steam registry outs Sonic Generation bundle

For those people that didn’t know, Steam stores application data that includes a list of every game that has ever appeared (and will soon appear) in Steam. Even if you don’t own it.

Not only does Sonic Generation have a registry, but so does a pre-order for a bundle, which seems to include every Sonic game available on Steam. Though seems that the original version will include a free copy of Sonic The Hedgehog (Genesis).

To add to the flame, according to Sonic Stadium, the SEGA blog listed the PC version in a post and quickly edited their post.

Sonic Generations – Six Screens from Speedy Highway!

Take a gander at these high-speed Sonic Generations screenshots featuring ‘Speedy Highway’ (first seen in Sonic Adventure) now in glorious HD!

I remember playing Sonic Adventure when it first released on Dreamcast and that one particular set piece in Seedy Highway where Sonic Runs down the side of a sky scraper blew my mind. I’d never seen anything so mind bending, graphically stunning (for its time) and fast in a videogame before. It will stay with me for ever; I hope Sonic Generations can recapture the magic of Speedy Highway!

Phantasy Star Online 2 delayed to sometime 2012

SEGA today confirmed that one of their most anticipated titles has been pushed back to sometime in 2012. The game was suppose to release late this year following its Alpha trial but has been pushed back due to fan feedback. Speaking on the matter, producer Satoshi Sakai says the decision was made by SEGA following the feedback from the alpha-test. SEGA has now confirmed that a second trial will be held in early 2012 and those who tried the original alpha as well as new participants will be allowed entry. With such news, expect the release date to be moved to sometime in mid 2012 when SEGA officially announces a new date.
