Panzer Dragoon Remake Nintendo Switch handheld gameplay from Gamescom.

Several pieces of news have dropped for Panzer Dragoon over the last few hours including some footage of the first stage in the up and coming remake on the Nintendo Switch. Thanks to attendees at the event, we’ve also found out several things regarding the remake that fans of the series can look forward to.

  • Players will be able to switch between original soundtrack and the new songs made for the remake, which is being handled by someone within the Panzer Dragoon fan community.
  • A physical version of the game is planned and not exclusive to the Nintendo Switch, so PlayStation, Xbox and PC users, stay tuned!
  • Panzer Dragoon II Zwei is in production, although the focus is first in getting the first game out the door.
  • Release date has not been announced but will fall between October – March 2020 as they are currently searching for a publisher.

SEGA shows off 2D events for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020

With Gamescom in full swing, we’ve been getting more media for the up and coming Mario & Sonic game and Nintendo showed off close to 30 minutes worth of gameplay on their stream showing rock climbing, archery and karate. But for the second half of the video we’re shown how the 2D events work where players can take control of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Eggman, Mario, Luigi, Peach and Bowser competing against each other in Long Jump and Diving, amongst other events. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD gameplay revealed via pre-order bonus footage

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, set for release on October 29 on PS4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One and later on PC, was announced with a launch trailer lacking any gameplay footage. Now, thanks to some overseas pre-order listings, we have a look at the game in action and the monkey’s wearing branded shirts and rolling in branded balls. The clips are brief, but give a good idea of how the game will look compared to the Wii original.

On the topic of the pre-order content, Monkey Ball series is no stranger to product placement. The first game featured Dole stickers on all the in-game bananas.

Two Point Hospital releasing to PlayStation 4, Xbox One & Nintendo Switch in late 2019

SEGA has announced that the PC game Two Point Hospital, released August 2018 by Two Point Studios, will be receiving a physical and digital console release later this year! PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch owners can expect all the new features added to the PC version post-launch, as well as expansions including “Bigfoot” and “Pebberley Island”. It’s great to see SEGA PC titles making their way to consoles, and here’s hoping it is a sign of things to come!

Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz remake Tabegoro! Super Monkey Ball releasing to PS4, Switch and PC

Just two weeks ago, we talked all things Super Monkey Ball and shared our wishes for a new game in the series. Well it looks like our wishes are being granted, as Famitsu has announced a remake of the Wii game Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz titled Tabegoro! Super Monkey Ball. The game, sporting new graphics and potentially gameplay refinements and additions, is due out October 31st in Japan to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, with a PC Steam version also in the works.

No word yet on a western release, but we will share news as we hear it!

SEGA AGES Virtua Racing and Wonder Boy: Monster Land set to release June 27 in the Americas and Europe

SEGA has officially announced that the next Nintendo Switch SEGA AGES titles, Virtua Racing and Wonder Boy: Monster Land, are due to hit the Nintendo eShop on June 27. Virtua Racing promises improved framerate, greater draw distance, online matchmaking, leaderboards, a new replay mode and up to 8-player local multiplayer.

Wonder Boy: Monster Land will feature the ability to restart after a game over with the same gear, as well as three new challenge modes, online leaderboards, replay function and a “Money Hungry Mode”. The “Money Hungry Mode” replicates a bug from the original game that allows players to increase the value of hidden gold by shaking the joystick back and forth.

SEGA AGES Phantasy Star releasing west on December 13 for Nintendo Switch

While the SEGA AGES release of Phantasy Star for the Nintendo Switch has been released, we have patiently been waiting for the western release. October came and went and we thought maybe November would see the release. But no, it appears we will have to wait until mid-December, December 13th to be exact, for the localized release. Via a SEGA and ATLUS European PR employee, we learned of the date and the £5.99 price point.

Past SEGA AGES releases sold at this price, so it is probable that the US and the rest of Europe will see price points of $7.99 and €7,99 respectively.

SEGA AGES for Nintendo Switch launches with Sonic the Hedgehog and Lightening Force: Quest for the Darkstar

The M2 developed SEGA AGES for Nintendo Switch has launched today in the west with two games: Sonic the Hedgehog and Lightening Force: Quest for the Darkstar (Thunder Force IV in Europe and Japan). The reasoning for the title of the latter is because on the SEGA Genesis in America, Lightening Force: Quest for the Darkstar was the localized name. However, given the history of the Thunder Force series prior to and since the game’s release, it is odd that SEGA of America saw fit to keep the localized name.

SEGA AGES titles are priced at $7.99 in America and £6.99 in Europe. A little less than the ¥925 Japanese price point when converted to dollars and a little more converted to pounds. Players can expect new features and various settings. Check then out now on the Nintendo eShop and stay tuned to SEGAbits for our reviews of the first two titles.

New SEGA AGES titles revealed, Sonic and Thunder Force IV releasing next week

We have some SEGA AGES news for all your Nintendo Switch owners out there! It has been revealed that Sonic the Hedgehog and Thunder Force IV will release September 20 to the Nintendo eShop priced at ¥999. Don’t let the Japanese price throw you, this will be a worldwide release.

Also revealed are more games in the SEGA AGES lineup! In addition to the above titles and Phantasy Star, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Gain Ground and Space Harrier fans can also expect Columns II Online Battle, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, OutRun and Thunder Force AC. No further details have been revealed, but we will be sure to share release dates once we learn of them.

Space Harrier joining the SEGA AGES lineup on Nintendo Switch

The SEGA arcade classic Space Harrier, which has long been a staple in SEGA rerelease collections, has been announced for the SEGA Ages lineup on Nintendo Switch. The trailer, seen above, utilizes characters from the anime Hi Score Girl to make the announcement.

Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom release date announced, new trailer showcases cinematics and gameplay

Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom has come a long way! Back in early 2016 we interviewed Fabien Demeulenaere, Director of Game Atelier, on our Swingin’ Report Show Podcast, and now the game has seen a huge overhaul with enhanced graphics, animated cinematics and more! The latest news is a release date, with the game set to launch on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One on November 6th, 2018. The physical launch edition of the game will include a full color 24 page instruction booklet and two sticker sheets. Those attending Gamescom can play the Switch version at the Nintendo booth in Hall 9.1.

Team Sonic Racing gets E3 Trailer featuring new theme by Crush 40

The Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube account has uploaded the brand new Team Sonic Racing E3 trailer which mixes CGI and in-game graphics. The trailer focuses on the rivalry between Team Sonic and Team Dark! The trailer also features the racing course Wisps Circuit because you know Sonic fans love Wisps!

One of my negative comments on the recently revealed Team Sonic Racing gameplay was that it looked a bit too slow for my liking, this new trailer’s gameplay seems to be a bit faster. I hope (and I’m sure there are) faster modes of play within the game. Obviously this isn’t taking into account my real big complaint, that its all Sonic and doesn’t include prior SEGA IPs like the All-Stars series, but it seems Sonic fans are happy at the very least.

Team Sonic Racing available to pre-order, releases this winter – check out the reveal trailer!

SEGA has officially unveiled the latest racer from Sumo Digital and SEGA: Team Sonic Racing! We were spoiled early this morning from a Wal-Mart leak, and now SEGA has officially revealed the game with a short but sweet teaser as well as pre-order links. The game is set to release this winter to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam and will retail for $39.99. No word on launch editions, but knowing SEGA it is likely. The official website is not live as of this posting, but it can be found at TeamSonicRacing.com.
