Yakuza 6 to release in Japan on December 8th – Watch the new trailer now!

Released last night is a brand new trailer for the upcoming Playstation 4 game Yakuza 6! The trailer reveals several things including the release date, December 8th, and the price of 8,190 yen. The game’s full title is Yakuza 6: Inochi no Uta which translates to “Poetry of Life”. For those wondering if this is the end of the road for series star Kazuma, the trailer carries the message “The final chapter of the legend of Kazuma Kiryu.” It is unknown if this means the franchise will debut a new hero in subsequent games, or if SEGA plans to put the franchise to rest after this game. Though given how reliant SEGA of Japan are on the franchise, a new hero or more prequel titles like Yakuza 0 are probably more likely.

Check out a large gallery of screens and renders after the break, and let us know your thoughts on the game in our dedicated forum topic or in the comments below!

It is coming to PS4, XBOX One, PC and NX Holiday 2017! Enjoy the trailer. Holiday 2017 is pretty far away, SEGA is all about quality now though. So the wait will be worth it most likely.

Sonic Mania (Classic Sonic Game) Announced for PS4/XBOX One/PC

At Sonic the Hedgehog’s 25th anniversary party a new Sonic game was finally unveiled! This game is called Sonic Mania and it seems to be a remix of past Sonic games and entirely new levels, made by Christian Whitehead aka Taxman, and Stealth.

Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are all playable and the game comes out in early 2017. It was playable at the Sonic the Hedgehog 25th anniversary event, and will be playable at the upcoming Summer of Sonic. We will update this post when we have more info, in the meantime, enjoy the trailer!

Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice gets first Japanese trailer

If you have been sitting around wanting to see more direct capture footage of Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice (or as its called in Japan Sonic Toon), then Sega Japan’s got you covered. Above is their trailer for the game introducing each character that will be in the final product.

While the Sonic Boom brand name has been hit hard due to two stinkers, SEGA has delayed Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice almost a year to try and get it right. The game is also being developed by Sanzaru Games which have developed good games in the past, namely Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. What are your guys thoughts on Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice so far?

SEGA News Bits: Sonic the Hedgehog Joins LEGO Dimensions Reaction

Sonic the Hedgehog is heading to LEGO Dimensions! Revealed in an E3 Expo Trailer for the game is a number of new franchises hitting the Lego toys-to-life multi-platform game, including Gremlins, Harry Potter, Adventure Time, The A-Team and others. At the moment, not much more is known. Sonic the Hedgehog could be a minor addition by way of a Fun Pack (figure and item) or a full-blown Level Pack (figure and items, plus levels) or a Team Pack (multiple figures and items). Sonic Stadium did spot the Tornado in a LEGO Dimensions graphic, so it is possible we will at least get a Fun Pack of Sonic and the Tornado.

Sit back and enjoy our thoughts on the announcement. Tell us what you think of Sonic the Hedgehog coming to LEGO Dimensions in the comments below.

First Dawn of War III gameplay footage emerges

SEGA and Relic Entertainment have now shown the first glimpse at gameplay for their upcoming game Dawn of War III. While the first trailer they showed had a dark paint like art style, making some fans think that was going to be what the game looked like. It seems the actual game will have a more ‘comic book cartoon’ like art style. Also surprising to see how much color the game has, which in my opinion is a good thing.

I know Dawn of War III isn’t on every SEGA fans radar, but what do you think of the gameplay shown? Let us know in the comments below.

Madeon & SEGA collaborating on a “new Sonic game trailer”

Untitled

We have information that a new trailer is in the works and that licensed music will be used from Madeon, whether it’s for the new Sonic game constantly teased or something related to Sonic Boom Fire & Ice. Either way, the official Twitter for popular French musician Madeon and Sonic the Hedgehog accounts have talked about using Madeon’s music in a Sonic trailer. The exact context though is ambiguous, such as which song from Madeon or for what game.

7th Dragon III Code: VFD Battle System Trailer

SEGA of America have released a new trailer for their upcoming 3DS JRPG, 7th Dragon III Code: VFD. This is actually first 7th Dragon game to make it West. This 7th Dragon III Code: VFD trailer is focused on the game’s battle system which is pretty interesting and unique in its own way. Believe me, I have been playing the game recently and this isn’t one of those ‘auto attack’ (maybe if you grind a lot) JRPGs that I have grown to hate.

7th Dragon III Code: VFD hits North American store shelves on July 12th only on Nintendo 3DS. If you want SEGA to localize more Japanese games, I suggest looking into this title.

Check out the latest Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games Wii U trailer

The Mario & Sonic series has become kind of same ‘ol same ol’. When the original Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games released in 2007, it was pretty jaw dropping to see the two franchises sharing the screen. But as time went on, and the two teamed up five more times along with Sonic’s two Smash Bros. appearances, the notion of a Mario & Sonic game has become kind of… stale. It doesn’t help that Nintendo primarily handles the publishing and marketing of the series, so as far as advertising the series is hardly given much attention. And if you’re a lowly non-commercial SEGA fan site, such as ourselves, it is difficult to get Mario senpai to notice you when it comes to exclusives, interviews or review copies.

I say all this, while sharing the latest trailer, for two reasons: I can no longer fake being excited for the latest Mario & Sonic trailers and because despite the apathy I’ve built up over the years, the Wii U footage of Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games actually looks pretty great. Graphics are bright and colorful with excellent framerate and the competitions appear to be motion control gimmick heavy than past titles. Mario & Sonic may no longer be able to wow people with the crossover aspect, unless of course SEGA and Nintendo bring in other franchises which would be awesome, but at least this upcoming game looks solid.

In the comments below, tell us what you think of the Mario & Sonic series. Does Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games look promising, or more of the same?

Dawn of War III announced with teaser trailer – game to release in 2017

Dawn of War III, a new entry in the highly acclaimed Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War series, has been officially announced today. Dawn of War is a sci-fi RTS set in the far future of the Warhammer universe and is not to be mistaken for the fantasy setting Total War: Warhammer which is in development at The Creative Assembly.

The trailer, which seems to be mostly CGI but possibly features some in-engine cut scenes for good measure, highlights some of the massive units and factions in Warhammer 40k’s universe of never ending war. The video is accompanied by the following description:

“Step into the nightmare of brutal galactic warfare with the Dawn of War III worldwide announce trailer!
Watch the battlefield come to life, and death, as you’ve never seen it before as Space Marines, Eldar and Ork slip ever deeper into the darkness of endless war.”

It will be interesting to find out if this new installment is similar to the original Dawn of War, with its more traditional RTS play style, or Dawn of War II which is more similar to Relic’s other highly acclaimed RTS series Company of Heroes.

Dawn of War III will release some time in 2017.
