Gamescom Vanquish Gameplay

Check out this new gameplay footage of Vanquish taken at Gamecom. It appears to be the same stage as the one demoed at E3, but it’s always good to see new run through as different people employ different tactics.

Sadly there is no audio, but that doesn’t stop it from being awesome to watch.

Vanquish E-smokes!

At a recent event Sega were giving out one of the coolest promotional items I’ve seen in a while; E-Cigarettes!

If you aren’t clued in on E-Cigarettes yet let me give you a little rundown on what these things are. Basically E-Cigs are an electronic substitute for cigarettes in which you inhale a vaporized form of nicotine with out the tobacco often used by people trying to quit.

A friend of mine uses these, when you smoke them the end glows neon blue instead of red… It looks pretty cool honestly!

Vanquish trailer 05/08/10 shows new areas and enemies

For those worrying about the same level repeating itself again and again, the latest trailer show cases a new forest level and some new baddies Sam will have to take care of, including a robotic dog and a giant robot which he takes down in a fashion reminiscent to one of Mikami’s previous games.

Vanquish difficulty modes revealed

Check out this screenshot of the Vanquish start menu, it seems to suggest that Vanquish will follow in Bayonettas footsteps with an ‘Easy Automatic’ mode now called ‘Casual Auto’. I’m not entirely sure how that would work with a 3rd person shooter so that’ll be interesting to see.

It also has a ‘God Hard’ mode, Always a pleaser with the more hardcore gamers out there… I wonder if that could be a little nod to ‘God Hand’ one of Mikami’s pervious games at Capcom? Who knows.

Vanquish: This is gonna be fun trailer

Here is the latest trailer for Vanquish, in this trailer it just has gameplay with some techno soundtrack in the background. Its amazing seeing how much is going on screen at once and frame rate stays solid.

The game will be out in October worldwide, pre-order it at some stores to receive free DLC weapon pack.

Vanquish hits Europe on October 22nd

We already know that Vanquish is hitting Japan on October 21st, but a day after, everyone in Europe will have the pleasure of getting the game. The three weapon pack will be for pre-order customers as well, only in Europe it will be selected retailers.

The DLC for pre-orders are the same as the Japanese release. That means Boost Machine Gun, Laser Canon and Anti Armor Pistol. If trend goes like the Japanese release, the pre-order DLC will be up for sale after the game comes out.

[UPDATE:] North American release date for Vanquish announced, October 19th. Take that Europe and Japan, last to be announced and first to come out. [/UPDATE]

Vanquish will get downloadable content

SEGA Japan have confirmed paid downloadable content will be hitting Vanquish. The first set of DLC are the three guns you see above and will be free for pre-order customers. The pack includes a Boost Machine Gun, Laser Canon and Anti Armor Pistol.

It has been confirmed that those who didn’t pre-order will be able to buy the weapons. Talking about Vanquish, Shinji Mikami has launched the blog for the game today.

Vanquish coming out before Halloween

Famitsu has given up the date for Vanquish, it will be hitting store shelves on October 21st on both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The only issue with the release date is that its Japan only.

Though, I thought I heard that the game was being released worldwide at the same time? I doubt it, but I’m sure we will probably get it in early 2011.

Vanquish demoed in Japan Expo (Paris)

Sega was at a recent Japan Expo in Paris showing off some of their upcoming games. Vanquish was one of those games demoed at the event and I think it produced of the best demonstrations showing what Vanquish has too offer so far.

The game is being played by someone that obviously already knows the ins and outs of the game and it’s much nicer to watch than the odd youtube video hosted by people giving the demo a go for the first time.

Hit the Jump for Part 2 and 3 of the demonstration which have the gameplay.

Vanquish box art

This is the box art for Vanquish, according to Amazon. You can tell they have a heavy emphasis on bright colors. Not to mention, the  cover shows off that sense of danger and speed, also could be a mech robot game. That is, if I judged the game by the cover alone.

Thoughts?

Vanquish’s visuals where inspired by Casshern

I think everyone knows t that Mikami’s Vanquish title is aimed more at the Western audiences. But did you know their visuals where originally inspired by Casshern, a Japanese anime?

“I do think the visuals lean more towards a Western style, but the original inspiration was from Casshern, a Japanese animated show, and a lot of the game’s taste comes from that,”

I would have liked if they stuck more Japanese style, instead of thinking about what Westerners want. Also, Casshern is pretty awesome.

SEGABITS heading to E3, courtesy of The Sonic Stadium!

Alright, so some of you may be wondering why I suddenly started doing updates for SEGAbits. Is it because they are the awesomenest SEGA fan site in the world? Why of course! But beyond that, it’s because I was recently offered the chance to go to E3 on for the awesomenest Sonic website in the world, The Sonic Stadium! Being more of a SEGA fan then just a Sonic fan, I thought it would be a waste to go to the show without providing my SEGA chums with some coverage from the floor coverage!

So, what can we expect from this? Well, hands on previews, obviously (Vanquish and any surprise games being at the top of my list, currently). You can expect off screen videos and photos as well, as well as impressions for the 3DS, Move, and Natal (as well as a comparison between the latter too). Finally, we’re also looking to get some interviews with Platinum Games and High Voltage software, if everything goes well.

Of course, for all Sonic related coverage, you’ll need to head over to Sonic Stadium. Since I am going to E3 for both websites, the two sites will providing joint coverage of everything SEGA related at the show. We’ll be sure to let you know whenever something new is posted over at TSS!

Finally, I would like to send out a HUGE thanks to Kellie, Aaron, and all the other awesome people over at Sega of America for making this possible. It is this sort of dedication to the fan community that makes SEGA such a special company, and one of the many reasons why I consider them one of the best companies in the history of gaming. We at SEGAbits really appreciate this chance.
