SEGA Interactive interviews HOTD Director, Takashi Oda, on the series and wants to produce 3 more games

In a recent interview uploaded on SEGA Interactive’s official website, the company interviewed The House of the Dead series director, Takashi Oda, on his life history as a junior high school student to his current role at SEGA in Japan.

The interview goes further in depth on his time developing The House of the Dead series with he and his team at AM1 were task to create a gun shooting game with horror taste after the success of Virtua Cop, his reaction to the location test version with the rejected blow back gun system, and the proposal on making The House of the Dead 5 back in 2012 before House of the Dead Scarlet Dawn was in development.

The few interesting tidbits within the interview is that Oda-san would love to continue making at least 3 more House of the Dead titles in the future, including a House of the Dead FPS to give players enough freedom to walk around stages if there was enough demand. You can read the full interview with Google Translate. What are your initial thoughts on the interview and the future of the House of the Dead series? I think HOTD FPS would be a good concept if it focuses on the aspects of virtual reality. Let us know in the comments below.

Streets of Rage 4 coming out on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC

Streets of Rage 4 publisher DotEmu has now confirmed on Twitter that Streets of Rage 4 will be coming out on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and of course the Nintendo Switch. This will basically cover every large platform that most fans wanted it on. Well, maybe not the Dreamcast, but you can’t give them a hard time about that.

We also know three of the four characters that are playable, if you missed it we got Axel Stone, Blaze Fielding and new comer Cherry Hunter. The fourth character shadow also seems to be new but will probably be a character based on Max Thunder? Personally super excited for this game and probably going to be one of the best SEGA revivals since the return of classic Sonic in Sonic Mania!

While they listed it as PC, they didn’t put ‘Steam’, while this makes me scared that it might be one of the many PC games to go Epic Store Exclusive; the studio did tweet that its available to put on wishlists on Steam.

Pix’n Love Publishing doing their own Limited Collector’s Edition of Shenmue III

The French video game publisher known as Pix’n Love publishing will have its own limited edition version of Shenmue III, this version of the game is set to go on sale on October 9, 2019 and be limited to only 2,500 units. The publisher has done limited editions for games like Resident Evil 2 Remake, Travis Strikes Again, and even Mega Man 11. They also do ‘signed copies’ of some of these limited editions, but it doesn’t seem Shenmue III will have that.

This will make the Pix’n Love version the rarest considering that the Limited Run Games Collector’s Edition is limited to 5,000 units, while this one is half that. How many times will you own Shenmue III? I guess we will find out. Pre-orders will go up at October 9, 2019 at 4:30PM (UK time). While they didn’t do a price their “Limited Collector’s Edition” line-up usually range from 69,90 € ($77 USD) to 79,90 € ($88 USD). They do ship to countries like the United States, Europe and Japan; in case you wanted to import.

SEGA AGES Columns II and Puzzle & Action Ichidant-R releasing on October 17th in western territories

Two more titles from the SEGA AGES series are coming to western territories, which are Columns II and Puzzle & Action Ichidant-R. These two titles are actually relatively significant compared to past SEGA AGES releases, as they’ve previously never got a release in North America and most of Europe, or even that many re-releases in general. Both are scheduled to drop on the eShop on the Nintendo Switch for both North America and Europe on October 17th for $7.99 and equivalent.

Columns II takes the familiar gem dropping premise of the first game, and mixes it up with a new stage based structure. Now players are tasked with trying to clear out specific flashing gems by digging through a premade board, while trying to endure the board gradually being pushed up due to randomly spawning skulls. While Puzzle & Action Ichidant-R is a series of minigames, where up to two players are tasked with clearing over 20 different nutty minigames within 4 rounds. These SEGA AGES releases also include additional features, such as SEGA AGES Columns II giving you the option to disable the skulls and comes with the first Columns game as a bonus, while SEGA AGES Puzzle & Action Ichidant-R comes with the Mega Drive version included as a bonus and the ability to play against players with online play.

Atlus shows 11 minutes of Persona 5 Royal’s prologue gameplay

Atlus has streamed the first 11 minutes of Persona 5 Royal‘s gameplay during the latest “Let’s Players Gathering! Persona 5 Royal Newcomer Preparation Special” broadcast. Yeah, that’s a mouthful.

While its been awhile since I played Persona 5, the game obviously didn’t feature new character Kasumi Yoshizawa, which is now present in the prologue gameplay. Its odd that they had her appear so early, so we’ll see how they weave her into the game’s story.

Persona 5 Royal is set to release in Japan on October 31, exclusive on the PlayStation 4 and is heading West sometime in Spring 2020. The gameplay starts at 1:52:39 to 2:03:50, if it doesn’t autoplay at the start.

Forever Entertainment plans to remake The House of the Dead 1 & 2 to modern consoles for 2020

Forever Entertainment, the Polish publisher that has collaborated with SEGA with rebooting other classic titles such as Panzer Dragoon, will be remaking The House of the Dead 1 & 2 with MegaPixel Studio as the developer for the games and will be true to the original games’ storyline with some graphical differences and tweaked game play to bring them to modern day gaming.

The House of the Dead 1 & 2 Remake is targeting a release window of 2020 with no console announcement just yet. Since the House of the Dead games are rail shooters, where players are AMS agents destroying abominable creatures in their path, it may have a release on the Nintendo Switch.

What are your initial thoughts on The House of the Dead 1 & 2 being remade from the ground up? Would you have also like to see the games ported to modern consoles in it’s original format by SEGA & M2? Feel free to leave a comment below!
